• Yuanfang repeatedly attacked Mahito, whose body healed from every blow, until Mahito’s cursed energy began to run low after two and a half hours.
• Mahito blocked Yuanfang’s next attack, escaped through a manhole as a mouse, and promised they would fight again.
• Satoru Gojo asked Yuanfang to train Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji Itadori, and Nobara Kugisaki, then vanished before they could object.

After rescuing Nobara Kugisaki and a child from a curse, Yuanfang left to take the child home, while Nobara Kugisaki asked whether he had a girlfriend.

• Megumi Fushiguro explained that people’s fear of the cemetery and abandoned building had formed a curse, and he told Nobara Kugisaki that Yuji Itadori had swallowed a Special Grade Cursed Object.
• Yuanfang assigned Yuji Itadori and Nobara Kugisaki to exorcise the curses, lent Yuji Itadori his cursed-energy-infused Tang Dao, and warned him not to let Sukuna out.
• Yuanfang raised the Curtain and secretly followed Nobara Kugisaki into the building while Megumi Fushiguro stayed outside to keep watch.
• Nobara Kugisaki defeated the Doll Curse and found a child, but a frog-like curse seized the child and threatened her.

Nobara Kugisaki tried to arrange a food tour with Yuanfang, but Mei Mei summoned him to hunt a Special Grade cursed spirit in Okinawa. Yuanfang left with Mei Mei, while Nobara’s disappointment turned into a fight with Yuji Itadori.

• Nobara Kugisaki asked Megumi Fushiguro whether Yuanfang had a girlfriend, then took Yuji Itadori’s Tang Dao to return it to Yuanfang.
• The next morning, Nobara returned the sword and asked Yuanfang to show her good places to eat after class; he agreed.

In July 2018, Yuanfang and the first-year students entered Eishu Juvenile Detention Center to find survivors trapped with a special grade cursed spirit. They found the victims and confronted the spirit, and as Yuanfang prepared to hold it off, Itadori volunteered to stay and release Sukuna if necessary.

• Ijichi briefed Yuanfang, Itadori, Megumi Fushiguro, and Kugisaki on the cursed womb and warned them to flee if they encountered a special grade.

• Yuanfang held off the first cursed spirit so Itadori, Kugisaki, and Megumi Fushiguro could escape, but another reddish-brown cursed spirit appeared beside them.
• Yuanfang absorbed the cursed spirit’s cursed energy, battered it until it vanished, and pocketed the Finger it left behind.
• Yuanfang sensed Sukuna’s cursed energy at the plaza and found Sukuna had killed another cursed spirit and swallowed its Finger.
• Sukuna could not switch out of Itadori’s body, so he removed his heart and threatened that Itadori would die if he took over again.
• Sukuna attacked Yuanfang with the power of three Fingers, overpowering him as Yuanfang continued absorbing Sukuna’s cursed energy.

Yuanfang carried Itadori’s apparently lifeless body out after Sukuna lost control, then joined the grieving students at Jujutsu High. As the school invited Megumi Fushiguro and Kugisaki to the Kyoto Sister-School Goodwill Event, Kugisaki agreed only if Yuanfang trained her.

• Itadori regained control before Sukuna could unleash Malevolent Shrine, then collapsed after coughing up blood.
• Yuanfang carried Itadori outside and told Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro that he had died, and Satoru Gojo arrived to find Itadori with a hole in his chest.

At the Goodwill Event, Todo fought Megumi Fushiguro and then Yuanfang, until Satoru Gojo intervened.

• Kenjaku, Mahito, and Hanami regrouped at the beach after Hanami returned carrying the severely injured Jogo, and Kenjaku set October 31 in Shibuya as the time and place to seal Satoru Gojo.
• Mahito told Kenjaku he wanted to eliminate Yuanfang, whose ability could nullify cursed techniques and externally released cursed energy within a certain range.
• Kenjaku explained that Yuanfang's ability could not block physical attacks, and Mahito decided he had a way to defeat him.

After a jealous exchange among his classmates, Yuanfang followed the cursed energy of Sukuna's Finger, suspecting Mahito had laid a trap. He took the finger from a woman, then doubled back to investigate as Mahito came after him.

• Mai asked Yuanfang for his contact details to provoke Maki and Kugisaki, and Yuanfang agreed while keeping his distance.
• Kugisaki asked if Yuanfang liked Mai, and he said they were only fellow students exchanging contact details.
• A few days later, Yuanfang sensed Sukuna's Finger and decided to investigate despite suspecting Mahito had prepared a trap.

• Yuanfang appeared and kicked Mahito away, then ordered Junpei to guard the unconscious students while he and Itadori attacked.
• Yuanfang and Itadori overwhelmed Mahito, and Mahito realized Itadori could damage his soul because he was a vessel.
• Mahito expanded his domain, but Yuanfang nullified it almost immediately and absorbed cursed energy from it.

Itadori and Yuanfang cornered Mahito, but Kento Nanami’s ambush left him helpless only for an attacker to throw a C4 bomb at them. They survived the blast with Yuanfang shielding them, while Mahito escaped and Yuanfang ran off to find clothes.

• Itadori and Yuanfang struck Mahito, but he liquefied himself and fled into a sewer.
• Kento Nanami emerged from the sewer and incapacitated Mahito, prompting Itadori to move in for the kill.
