Background / History
The Female Emperor grew up in a poor mountain village, dependent on an older brother only a few years her senior. They lacked adequate food and clothing, but he consistently fed her before himself. He was forcibly taken away when she was four or five years old and died far from home 104.
Her longing for him became the central purpose of her life. She rose from a mortal body to become a Great Emperor, yet sought neither immortality for its own sake nor release from that attachment. Even after more than two hundred thousand years, she continued waiting for his return 104 112.
Later accounts attribute her brother’s death to the Feathered Divine Dynasty. According to the rumor recounted by Luo Tianlin, she destroyed the entire dynasty with a single palm strike after discovering the truth. Yuhua Great Emperor subsequently acknowledges that the dynasty’s foundations and its treatment of her brother were wrong 116 134.
Appearance
- Clothing: Usually wears flowing white robes 59 109 155.
- Face: Described as exceptionally beautiful, with cool, clear eyes; clouds and Great Dao mist frequently obscure her features 59 103 112.
- Bearing: Possesses a sovereign’s imposing presence even without releasing her aura. During ordinary family life, she can instead resemble a quiet older sister 103 111.
- Mask: Sometimes wears the Bronze Ghost Face Mask, whose expression appears neither fully crying nor fully smiling 59 231.
Personality
Her reputation rests on overwhelming strength and merciless cultivation. She hunted exceptional Heavenly Prodigies, refined their physiques, and attained her position over the bodies of her enemies. Even the Black Emperor fears her, while later generations regard her as an unapproachable demonic emperor 111 219 298.
Her private behavior differs sharply from that reputation. Reunited with Ye Ping through her incarnation, she serves him food, watches him affectionately, and treasures routine family activities. She tells Luo Yan that she is an ordinary woman with emotions and desires, describing this reunion as her happiest time in more than two hundred thousand years 109 111 112.
She is nevertheless strict and fiercely protective. She punishes a man who bullied the young Ye Nannan by severing the tendons in his hands and feet, and regularly disciplines the girl when she troubles Ye Ping 111.
After history changes, affection for Luo Yan becomes entangled with fear of losing her last family member. She attempts to bind him to her through marriage and confinement, explicitly wishing to avoid awakening to find that he has left. Her response to his eventual escape moves from lethal anger toward her servants to amused recognition of his resourcefulness 155 200.

Story Role / Major Arcs
The Red Mark and the Promise
Luo Yan briefly awakens her deceased brother at Kunlun and accepts his request to care for his little sister. He senses her gaze immediately afterward and flees 31.
Their first sustained meeting takes place beneath the Desolate Forbidden Zone. She explains her suppression of the Red Demon Heavenly Venerable, gives Luo Yan the Ghost Face Mask, and quietly entrusts him with the journey to her brother’s time. Despite his suggestion that resurrection might someday be possible, she expresses little hope 59 60.
Return to Her Childhood Era
Her consciousness emerges from the mask after Luo Yan reaches the era of Yuhua Great Emperor. She accompanies him to Ye Ping and the young Ye Nannan, accepting his story that she is their long-absent older sister 103 105.
The household gives her an opportunity to experience ordinary family happiness. Nevertheless, she also intends to alter history. She confronts Yuhua Great Emperor, then fights a mysterious figure who challenges her right to interfere; the Time Mirror enters the battle to preserve her lingering will and its memories 111 112 113 115 116.
Her incarnation later fights into the Immortal Domain. There, it discovers that history’s changes have finally begun altering its own memories 139.

After Luo Yan returns to the present age, she suppresses his true body and invokes Ye Ping’s final wish as grounds for marriage. She seals his power and orders a modest ceremony in their courtyard for her next awakening 153 155 156.
Luo Yan escapes before that reunion. She subsequently returns to seclusion to investigate the Human Body’s Sixth Secret Realm. When his true body appears again, she awakens and pursues him toward the Heavenly Road 200 231 232.
