Ch. 101The Barbecue Detox Method

Nezuko used her Blood Demon Art to remove Gyutaro’s poison from Tengen, allowing him and Tanjiro to resume their attack. The fight continued as Tengen protected Nezuko and Tanjiro, and Tanjiro returned to battle after Nezuko cured him.

  • Nezuko engulfed Tengen in flames that removed Gyutaro’s poison, and Tengen charged back into the fight with Tanjiro and Nezuko.
  • Gyutaro targeted Nezuko, but Tengen blocked his attack while Tanjiro joined them with Sun Breathing, First Form: Dance.
  • Gyutaro unleashed Blood Demon Art: Rampant Arc Rampage, deflecting Tengen’s and Tanjiro’s attacks and sending them flying.
  • Tengen used explosive pellets and his chained blades to stop Gyutaro from striking Nezuko and to throw Tanjiro beside her.
  • Nezuko removed Tanjiro’s poison, and Tengen attacked Gyutaro with Sound Breathing, First Form: Roar, while Tanjiro returned to the battlefield.

Ch. 102Blazing Flames

Tanjiro awakened a Demon Slayer Mark and used Sun Breathing to join Tengen in attacking Gyutaro. As the two closed in on Gyutaro’s neck, Daki shouted for her brother not to let them decapitate him.

  • Gyutaro overwhelmed Tanjiro and Tengen with blood blades, and Tanjiro was wounded and poisoned while trying to protect Nezuko.
  • Remembering his family and his goal of turning Nezuko human, Tanjiro resisted Gyutaro’s attack, awakened a flame-shaped Demon Slayer Mark, and burned away the poison.
  • Tanjiro and Tengen fought Gyutaro together, but Gyutaro struck Tengen from behind with a redirected Blood Scythe, leaving him with a severe wound.
  • Hinatsuru fired kunai coated with wisteria poison, and Tanjiro used his red blade to sever Gyutaro’s left arm and wound him, temporarily stopping its regeneration.
  • Gyutaro shielded his neck with blood blades as Tengen attacked, while Daki called out to her brother and Tanjiro launched Thunder Breathing, First Form: Thunderclap and Flash-Godspeed.

Ch. 103Wind and Cloud

Zenitsu and Tengen beheaded Daki and Gyutaro, but Gyutaro's body erupted in a devastating blast of blood blades, forcing Tengen to evacuate Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Hinatsuru. Three days later, Genya successfully used the Breathing Style Chiba Yo taught him, which Chiba named Cloud Breathing.

  • Inosuke cut through Daki's sashes to help Zenitsu, while Tanjiro blocked Gyutaro's Blood Scythes so Tengen could keep attacking.
  • Tengen awakened an eighth note on his forehead and cut through Gyutaro's defenses as Zenitsu used Godspeed twice to behead Daki.
  • Tengen beheaded Gyutaro, and Nezuko used her Blood Demon Art to purge the poison from Tengen's body.
  • Gyutaro's body exploded into a sphere of blood blades, and Tengen grabbed Tanjiro, Nezuko, and Hinatsuru and fled.
  • Three days later, Genya used the Breathing Style Chiba Yo had taught him to conceal himself in mist, and Chiba named it Cloud Breathing.

Ch. 104Cooperation

After Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Tengen returned badly injured from defeating Upper Rank Six, Chiba Yo learned what had happened and reflected on the dwindling Upper Ranks. Kagaya received Tamayo’s reply accepting his proposal to meet and discuss a plan to destroy Muzan.

  • Chiba Yo rushed to the Butterfly Mansion after hearing that Tanjiro, Zenitsu, and Tengen had arrived with serious injuries.
  • Suma, Zenitsu, and Makio caused a commotion until a Kakushi quieted them and brought the injured inside for treatment.
  • Inosuke proudly told Chiba Yo that they had defeated Upper Rank Six, while Obanai Iguro corrected him and then stopped arguing.
  • Chiba Yo felt encouraged that the Upper Ranks were being eliminated, and Kagaya voiced hope that Muzan would soon be left with no escape.
  • Amane read Tamayo’s letter to Kagaya, in which Tamayo agreed to visit on the last night of the month to discuss a plan to destroy Muzan.

Ch. 105The Meeting

Chiba Yo escorted Tamayo and Yushiro to the Ubuyashiki Estate for her meeting with Kagaya, where she agreed to work with the Demon Slayer Corps against Muzan. Kagaya welcomed her and explained that the Corps endured through the generations of people who had sacrificed themselves, while Chiba Yo reflected on the organization’s ability to function even without its leader.

  • Kagaya received Tamayo’s reply and asked Chiba Yo to meet her when she arrived, keeping her identity from other Corps members to prevent a rash confrontation.
  • A Kakushi summoned Chiba Yo from the Butterfly Mansion, and he went to the Ubuyashiki Estate to read Tamayo’s letter and accept Kagaya’s request.
  • Two days later, Chiba Yo met Tamayo and Yushiro near the estate and guided them safely inside by a secluded path.
  • Kagaya thanked Tamayo for trusting the Corps and apologized for being unable to rise and greet her.
  • Tamayo praised Kagaya’s perseverance, and he credited the Corps’ survival to humanity’s enduring will and the sacrifices passed down through generations.
  • Chiba Yo reflected on Kagaya’s importance to the Hashira while considering that the Corps’ established operations could continue even if Kagaya died.

Ch. 106The plan

Kagaya discussed ways to draw Muzan out with Tamayo and Chiba Yo, but Tamayo warned that Muzan would avoid Yo and proposed using the Blue Spider Lily to attract his attention. The meeting ended without a firm plan, while a samurai stood over a frightened father and daughter beside a wrecked car.

  • Kagaya explained his plan to lure Muzan to the Ubuyashiki Estate and sacrifice himself in an explosion so Tamayo and the Demon Slayer Corps could attack.
  • Chiba Yo questioned Kagaya’s decision to die, but Tamayo warned that Muzan would stay hidden because Yo resembled Yoriichi Tsugikuni.
  • Tamayo proposed searching for the Blue Spider Lily and spreading word of it to draw Muzan or his demons out, and Kagaya agreed to have the Corps search.
  • Tamayo told Kagaya that her medicines to prevent Muzan from splitting and to age him were nearly complete, while the medicine to turn demons human still needed work.
  • Kagaya suggested that Shinobu Kocho help Tamayo complete the medicine, and Tamayo agreed to accept her assistance.
  • At midnight, a samurai stood over a prostrate figure beside a wrecked car as a frightened father and daughter hid nearby.

Ch. 107A Heartless Man

Kaigaku begged Kokushibo to spare him and offered to betray the Demon Slayer Corps, so Kokushibo gave him blood and began turning him into a demon. As Kaigaku’s transformation started, Kokushibo turned toward Nakatayama and his daughter, invoking Muzan’s command.

  • Kaigaku groveled before Kokushibo and offered Nakatayama and his daughter as food to save himself.
  • Nakatayama condemned Kaigaku for betraying the family he had hired him to protect, recalling how he had once admired him and considered him a potential son-in-law.
  • Kaigaku privately resented Nakatayama and promised himself he would kill the father and daughter if he survived.
  • Kokushibo recognized Kaigaku as a former Swordsman of the Demon Slayer Corps, and Kaigaku offered to reveal the Corps’ headquarters and help kill its members.
  • Kokushibo dripped his blood into Kaigaku’s hands, and Kaigaku swallowed it and began transforming into a demon.
  • Kokushibo approached the injured Nakatayama and his weeping daughter, saying that he would follow his lord’s command despite their weakness.

Ch. 108The tormented Kakushi member

Kokushibo turned Nakatayama’s daughter into a demon and left Kaigaku’s fate in his own hands. Chiba Yo visited the injured Zenitsu, reassured him about his legs, and secretly asked Chuntaro to wake him if he fell asleep on a mission.

  • Kokushibo injected his blood into Nakatayama’s daughter, who transformed into a demon, then told Kaigaku that his future depended on himself.
  • Zenitsu wailed about his broken legs while the Kakushi member assigned to him complained outside his room.
  • Chiba Yo arrived, apologized to the Kakushi member, and entered Zenitsu’s room to quiet him.
  • Chiba Yo explained that Zenitsu’s legs had likely broken from combining two uses of Godspeed and assured him he would recover.
  • Chiba Yo whispered to Chuntaro to pinch Zenitsu’s nose if he fell asleep on a mission.

Ch. 109Encounter with Kaigaku

Chiba Yo finished a series of missions against weak demons and encountered Kaigaku, who had become the new Upper Rank Six. He confronted Kaigaku in a bloodied village and demanded to know why he had become a demon.

  • Chiba Yo reassured Zenitsu about Chuntaro, then received a mission to eliminate demons in two locations and left.
  • Chiba Yo killed the two weak demons, then slew two more while traveling between patrol areas.
  • Chiba Yo wandered into a mountain village, smelled blood, and found its houses and streets marked by slaughter.
  • Chiba Yo recognized Kaigaku as the person boasting about becoming a demon and eating people.
  • Kaigaku revealed that Muzan had named him the new Upper Rank Six, and Chiba Yo demanded to know why he had become a demon.

Ch. 110What Is Good and Evil?

Chiba Yo confronted Kaigaku over betraying his benefactors and becoming a demon, but Kaigaku blamed everyone else and revealed the truth about the children at Himejima’s temple. Their fight began when Kaigaku attacked Chiba Yo, who vanished and prepared to kill him with Thunder Breathing’s First Form.

  • Chiba Yo accused Kaigaku of betraying Zenitsu Agatsuma, Jigoro Kuwajima, and Himejima by becoming a demon.
  • Kaigaku defended himself by insulting Zenitsu and his teachers, claiming they deserved their suffering and death.
  • Kaigaku revealed that Himejima’s temple children had died trying to help him fight the demon, not while trying to flee.
  • Kaigaku threatened Chiba Yo and the people who had rejected or criticized him, then drew his Nichirin Blade.
  • Kaigaku attacked Chiba Yo with Thunder Breathing’s Second Form, Rice Spirit, but Chiba Yo vanished from his sight.
  • Chiba Yo said he would let Kaigaku die by Thunder Breathing’s First Form.

Ch. 111The shortest-lived Upper Rank

Chiba Yo killed Kaigaku with twelve strikes of Thunder Breathing’s First Form, and Kaigaku died raging against those who had cared for him. In a fiery afterlife, Kaigaku lost his powers and strength before someone from his past recognized him.

  • Chiba Yo used Thunderclap and Flash: Twelvefold Godspeed to tear Kaigaku’s body apart, leaving his head intact.
  • Chiba Yo explained that eleven strikes represented the care Kaigaku had received from others, while the final strike was his own decision to kill him.
  • Kaigaku’s head crumbled, ending his six-day tenure as Upper Rank Six.
  • In a realm of flames, Kaigaku insisted he belonged in heaven and cursed Chiba Yo.
  • Kaigaku found he could no longer use his Breathing Style or wield his sword, and his body dwindled to a frail, starving state.
  • An unidentified voice greeted Kaigaku as someone who had once worked with him and had also become a demon.

Ch. 112Crow Bro

In hell, Kaigaku was beaten by the Horned Demon he had once encountered, then died and vanished. Chiba Yo captured his Kasugai Crow and tried to keep Kaigaku’s fate secret so Jigoro Kuwajima would not be blamed, ending with Chiba Yo taking out a rope.

  • The Horned Demon recognized Kaigaku and blamed him for leading him to Gyomei, then attacked him.
  • Kaigaku tried to fight back but was too weak, and the Horned Demon beat him until he died and vanished.
  • Chiba Yo caught his Kasugai Crow and ordered it not to spread word that Kaigaku had become a demon.
  • Chiba Yo explained that he wanted to protect Jigoro Kuwajima from being held responsible and planned to report the matter to Oyakata-sama himself.
  • The Kasugai Crow agreed to keep quiet, but Chiba Yo remained wary and pulled a length of rope from inside his clothes.

Ch. 113A Chance to Find Muzan

On his way back to headquarters, Chiba Yo encountered a demon whose Blood Demon Art could track anyone whose blood it possessed. He captured the demon and hurried to Tamayo, hoping its ability could help locate Muzan Kibutsuji.

  • Chiba Yo headed back toward headquarters with his Kasugai Crow’s beak tied shut so it could not reveal what he had learned about Kaigaku.
  • A bloodied man begged Chiba Yo for help as a white-haired demon pursued him, tracking him with a glob of the man’s blood.
  • The demon explained that its Blood Demon Art could accurately track a target even when the target’s blood was mixed with someone else’s.
  • Chiba Yo realized the ability might let them find Muzan if they obtained his blood, and decided Tamayo should study the demon.
  • Chiba Yo struck the demon unconscious without using a Nichirin Blade and carried it toward Tamayo’s residence, while the man escaped and vowed to change his ways.

Ch. 114Extracting a Blood Demon Art

Chiba Yo brought Tamayo a demon whose Blood Demon Art could track people through their blood, hoping it could help locate Muzan. Tamayo agreed to try extracting the art and asked Chiba Yo to capture any demon with spatial abilities.

  • Chiba Yo arrived at the basement with the white-haired demon, repeatedly knocking him unconscious whenever he woke during the journey.
  • Yushiro claimed Tamayo was absent, but Tamayo emerged from her laboratory and rebuked him for lying.
  • Chiba Yo explained that the demon could track targets through their blood, but Tamayo warned Muzan's curse would kill him if he used Muzan's blood.
  • Tamayo offered to try extracting the demon's Blood Demon Art, citing her previous success extracting an art while helping a patient regain humanity.
  • Tamayo told Chiba Yo that Muzan might have a subordinate with spatial abilities and asked him to capture any such demon he encountered.

Ch. 115Hidden Hatred

Chiba Yo reported Tamayo’s cooperation and the white-haired demon to Kagaya, who saw a path toward finding Muzan but suffered a severe coughing fit. After the doctor warned that Kagaya’s illness could no longer be cured, Chiba Yo asked Amane to pass along another matter when her husband woke.

  • Chiba Yo encountered Shinobu Kocho and explained how he had met Tamayo and Yushiro and brought them into cooperation with the Corps.
  • Shinobu went to meet Tamayo while privately struggling with her hatred of demons.
  • Chiba Yo returned to the Ubuyashiki Estate and told Kagaya that Tamayo might use the white-haired demon’s Blood Demon Art to locate Muzan.
  • Kagaya urged Chiba Yo to work with Tamayo on finding a way to draw Muzan out of his special space, then began coughing blood.
  • The doctor said Kagaya’s illness could no longer be cured and advised the family to prepare for the worst.
  • Chiba Yo asked Amane to tell Kagaya about another matter after he woke.

Ch. 116The Swordsmith Village

Chiba Yo told Amane that Kaigaku had become a demon and asked her to keep the news from spreading until Oyakata-sama could decide how to handle it. He then met Kyojuro and Muichiro, who were heading to the Swordsmith Village, and learned that demons had been appearing frequently as the two Kasugai Crows compared their masters’ recent kills.

  • Chiba Yo told Amane he had slain Kaigaku and asked that Mr. Kuwajima not be implicated; Amane said she would wait for Oyakata-sama to wake before deciding what to do.
  • Chiba Yo warned his dizzy Kasugai Crow not to reveal what had happened and left it to rest in his room.
  • Chiba Yo met Kyojuro and Muichiro, who were going to the Swordsmith Village so Kyojuro could recuperate and Muichiro could get a new Nichirin Blade.
  • Muichiro struggled to remember Chiba Yo and could not recall how many demons he had fought, so his long-lashed Kasugai Crow said he had slain three in three weeks.
  • Chiba Yo's Kasugai Crow woke and boasted that they had slain six demons in a row over the past three weeks, beginning to add more as it challenged Muichiro's crow.

Ch. 117Awakening

Chiba Yo saw Kyojuro and Muichiro off as they headed to Swordsmith Village, then visited Tanjiro at the Butterfly Mansion and found him awake. Tanjiro greeted Yo and thanked Goto for the get-well gift.

  • Yo convinced Kyojuro and Muichiro that his unconscious Kasugai Crow had heatstroke, and Muichiro soon forgot the exchange.
  • Kyojuro said he had mostly recovered and that he and Muichiro were leaving for Swordsmith Village; Yo wished his teacher a speedy recovery.
  • Yo took Crow Bro back to his quarters, then learned at the Butterfly Mansion that Zenitsu had recovered and gone on a mission.
  • Yo arrived at Tanjiro's ward and saw Kanao holding Tanjiro's hand as she celebrated his awakening.
  • Goto brought Tanjiro a honey cake, and Tanjiro opened his eyes, thanked him, and greeted Yo.

Ch. 118Chiba Yo's plan

Chiba Yo visited the recovering Tanjiro and explained that he planned to travel in search of demons with spatial abilities and traces of Muzan. He said goodbye before leaving, while Tanjiro connected his dream of Yoriichi Tsugikuni to the origins of Hinokami Kagura.

  • Goto angrily sent for the others when Tanjiro woke, and the Butterfly Mansion's Three Little Ones and Aoi Kanzaki crowded around him in relief.
  • Aoi Kanzaki rushed into the ward beneath a sheet, nearly collided with Chiba Yo, and later apologized after learning he had been there.
  • Chiba Yo entered the ward after the others left and heard Tanjiro describe dreaming of someone who looked like him and an ancestor.
  • Chiba Yo identified the dream figure as Yoriichi Tsugikuni and told Tanjiro that Tamayo had remarked on their resemblance.
  • Chiba Yo told Tanjiro he planned to search for spatial-ability demons and traces of Muzan, and that he would be away for a long time.

Ch. 119Departure

Chiba Yo prepared to search for Muzan after warning the recovering Tanjiro about the risks of his breathing technique. Before leaving, he heard how Genya’s Cloud Breathing had helped him fight demons and bring him closer to reuniting with his brother.

  • Chiba Yo urged Tanjiro to recover and warned him that boosting his breathing intensity could cause lasting injuries; Tanjiro said he would accept the risk to save people.
  • Chiba Yo left Tanjiro to rest, wished Kanao and Tanjiro happiness, and Kanao returned to the hospital room to watch over him.
  • During the following week, Oyakata-sama agreed to conceal Kaigaku’s disappearance by saying he had left the Demon Slayer Corps.
  • Chiba Yo packed to search for Muzan while continuing to monitor his patrol area, but Genya arrived before he could leave.
  • Genya told Chiba Yo that Cloud Breathing had helped him defeat a demon and that he hoped to become a Hashira so he could reunite with his brother.

Ch. 120The Swordsmith's Battle Form

Genya thanked Chiba Yo for helping him learn Cloud Breathing and explained that he was heading to the Swordsmith Village for its hot springs and a new Nichirin Blade. After Genya left, Haganezuka arrived in a fury over Tanjiro breaking his sword and chased him through Corps Headquarters.

  • Chiba Yo encouraged Genya and credited his own modified Breathing Style with helping Genya learn Cloud Breathing.
  • Genya told Chiba Yo he was traveling to the Swordsmith Village, and Chiba Yo asked him to greet Tetsumaru-yama Niji.
  • A Kakushi blindfolded Genya, plugged his ears, and carried him away toward the Swordsmith Village.
  • Haganezuka rushed up to Chiba Yo and demanded to know where Tanjiro was because Tanjiro had broken his sword again.
  • Haganezuka charged into Corps Headquarters, where Tanjiro fled while apologizing and Haganezuka chased him with blades.
