The Dream of Wonderland

Sucrose's childhood dream of creating a paradise was originally connected to her hope that two lost friends would return. She pursued alchemy to recreate the legendary Wonderland rather than search for it herself, spending years cultivating extraordinary plants in her backyard 28 40.

Alongside this work, she collected and assembled skeletons for enjoyment and research inspiration. Before meeting Ellin, her collection already included frogs, wild boars, lizards, and a Hilichurl displayed with a club 26 28.

A later visit to the past reveals Ellin's hidden involvement in the beginning of this pursuit. Finding young Sucrose grieving after her playmates had left Mondstadt, Ellin obtained Alice's overview of biological alchemy and secretly left it on the grass for her. Sucrose discovered the book, became fascinated by its descriptions of modified plants, and resolved to create Wonderland so she could have friends and no longer be lonely 434.

Meeting Ellin

Sucrose approached Ellin to request the Hilichurl Berserker and Abyss Mage bodies recovered after Ellin's battle in Wolvendom. Jean had identified them as Ellin's spoils and directed Sucrose to seek her permission. Uncomfortable accepting valuable specimens for nothing, Sucrose agreed to make clothes in exchange 26.

Ellin's two active Visions fascinated Sucrose, who wanted to understand how one person could possess and control two elements. Her observations also revealed a growing attraction to Ellin, which she repeatedly tried to explain as research. After Ellin caught her smelling a pink teddy bear pillow, Sucrose received the pillow as a gift 27 28.

Cryo Regisvine Research

Sucrose rejected three days' worth of prototype Slime bras because she considered them unworthy of Ellin. Seeking fresh inspiration, she proposed studying a Cryo Regisvine, hoping it would help her cultivate much larger Sweet Flowers. Unable to defeat one herself, she accompanied Ellin and remained sheltered while Ellin and Feng'er fought it 29 30 31.

After bringing the defeated Regisvine home, Sucrose dissected it and spent seven days out of contact. She then delivered three finished bras, followed by additional garments and accessories made from the creature's tissues and cores 32 33.

Completing the Paradise

Ellin later supplied Sucrose with Dvalin's scale, frozen blood, and flesh. Experiments combining the blood and flesh with alchemical solutions produced dozens of potions and a major breakthrough in plant cultivation 38 39.

Although her garden now contained nearly all the plants she wanted, Sucrose still lacked a space isolated from the outside world. Ellin offered her the Luofu Abode within the Serenitea Pot. With Fischl, Feng'er, and Oz helping, they spent a week transforming its three islands into a paradise 39 40.

The completed realm helped Sucrose accept her past and appreciate her new friendships. She called Ellin her best friend and expressed her happiness at having Ellin and Fischl in her life 40.

Supporting Ellin and Expanding Her Friendships

Before Ellin departed to help rescue Dvalin, Sucrose asked her to look for further dragon materials and gave her two bottles of stamina potion. Ellin used the preparation after exhausting herself with a powerful Anemo attack on the approach to Stormterror's Lair 58 62.

Three days after the dragon crisis, Sucrose and Fischl helped prepare a celebration feast in the Serenitea Pot. Meeting Ellin's other friends and seeing Jean relax helped Sucrose feel that Wonderland was becoming a place of companionship. She submitted several alchemy funding requests during dinner; Jean approved most of them, but refused funding for the nutritional stamina potion 70.

Sucrose quietly applauded Ellin's appointment as the Sun Knight and later tearfully remained beside her hospital bed after she was injured. When Ellin brought Noelle into the Serenitea Pot, Sucrose and Fischl welcomed her as another close friend and showed her around Wonderland 74 87 93.

Sucrose later became distressed when Ellin stopped wearing the Anemo Vision she regarded as proof of their friendship. Ellin reassured her that their bond had not changed and explained that the Vision's power had become part of her body rather than disappeared 120.

Commercial Uses of Her Research

Jean turned Sucrose's Slime-bra prototypes into a patented product under the Sun Knight Brand. When Ellin returned to Mondstadt, Sucrose reported that 120,000 sets had sold in one week for 960 million Mora, that Jean had appointed Ellin chairwoman with a thirty-percent earnings share, and that 280 million Mora awaited Ellin in the Serenitea Pot villa 156.

Sucrose also agreed to let Ellin present her unusual plants to Madame Ping, considering an adeptus's interest a great honor. As her research continued and Wonderland accumulated more plants than it could comfortably hold, she followed Ellin's suggestion to sell surplus specimens at Lantern Rite. Noelle attracted customers while Sucrose remained inside the stall tending the plants; their stock included an enormous modified Glaze Lily that Madame Ping took home 176 224.

Watatsumi Island Research and Godhood

Sucrose accompanied Ellin, Fischl, Noelle, and Klee on a seaside vacation to Watatsumi Island. Interested in the island's unusual geography, she later conducted cultivation experiments on a plot Ellin set aside near Sangonomiya 263 361.

Her experiments identified a strange elemental energy in the soil and produced crops capable of using it as nutrients. The resulting plants were enormous, easy to cultivate, and safe to eat. Kokomi arranged for residents to inspect the research site and introduced the crops across the island, converting harmful wilderness elemental energy into valuable fertilizer 361.

This breakthrough ended Watatsumi Island's need to obtain Coral Bloodbranches from Vishaps. The new crops became popular specialties whose demand exceeded supply, bringing greater prosperity to the island. Ellin subsequently freed the imprisoned Vishaps beneath the Dainichi Mikoshi and informed Agi that the former conflict was over 361.

The narrative describes Sucrose's eventual worship as Inari, Inazuma's god of agriculture. Her statue was placed beside Ellin's at the Sky-Clearing Grand Shrine. The people's wishes for bountiful harvests began providing flashes of inspiration that increased her research success, allowing her to achieve godhood through scientific work 361.

Kokomi subsequently helped Sucrose predict the possible results of different experimental combinations, greatly accelerating her research. Their collaboration developed into a close friendship 369.

Mondstadt's Defense and Ellin's Recovery

During the monster disaster, Sucrose accompanied Albedo and Klee through Mondstadt's streets and attacked enemies with an alchemical flask that released a suction-producing Anemo construct 399.

Afterward, when Ellin withdrew to the Cathedral bell tower and blamed herself for the suffering she had failed to prevent, Sucrose joined Fischl and Noelle in resolving to help her. Ellin left Mondstadt before they could reach her, but the friends later welcomed her back at her eighteenth-birthday celebration in the Serenitea Pot. Sucrose, Fischl, and Noelle embraced her and cried with relief 407 416.

Sucrose also fought in Mondstadt's defense during the later calamity that struck all Seven Nations 450.

Visits Beyond Teyvat

Sucrose joined Keqing, Fischl, Noelle, and Kamisato Ayaka in accompanying Ellin to the higher-dimensional world where Teyvat's creators lived. In Ellin's former apartment, she used the computer room to back up her experiment records 459.

She later received requests for photographs from fans. Although overwhelmed and blushing, she agreed rather than refuse the people who liked her 461.

In the final recorded battle, Sucrose coordinated with her friends to destroy ruin machines. After the other combatants withdrew, she released an Anemo Hypostasis emulation that absorbed Keqing's lingering Electro power, triggered Swirl, and blasted the immobilized machines apart 463.

Sucrose is socially anxious, cautious, and afraid of accidentally offending others. She initially addresses Ellin formally, apologizes readily, and becomes flustered by compliments. When discussing skeletal specimens or explaining her experiments, however, her hesitation gives way to fluent, enthusiastic conversation 26 28.

Her research combines exacting standards with imagination. She treats a measurement error of two or three centimeters as unacceptable and repeatedly discards clothing prototypes that fail to meet her expectations. She is also principled about repayment, refusing Ellin's initial offer of valuable specimens without providing something in return 26 29.

Despite spending long periods alone, Sucrose does not prefer loneliness. She tells Ellin that researchers may lack the time or social skills to seek company while still longing for it. Ellin's presence reassures her and makes her experiments feel easier; when Ellin stays away, Sucrose worries that she has done something wrong 38.

Her affection for Ellin frequently leaves her blushing and distracted. As their trust deepens, she becomes more openly affectionate and permits Ellin to touch her ears—something previously reserved for her parents 27 33 40 41.

Her insecurity about being replaced persists even after their friendship is established. Seeing Ellin without the Anemo Vision and surrounded by more friends leads her to fear that Ellin no longer likes her, but she is too anxious to ask until Ellin notices her sadness 120.

Sucrose dislikes fighting and initially finds happiness in ordinary moments rather than heroic adventures. Nevertheless, she later takes part in defending Mondstadt when monsters threaten its people 41 399 450.

She remains modest about her accomplishments. After her agricultural breakthrough earns enthusiastic praise from Ellin and Kokomi, she bashfully says she is simply glad she could help 361.
