Cultivation and affiliations

Jiang Mengyun has cultivated for a hundred years and knows Ye Fei’s mother, Luo Yue, whom she calls “Sister Luo Yue.” She also knows the secret of Azure Dragon Valley and the existence of the Azure Dragon Sword. Before accompanying Ye Fei, she had already visited the Divine Feather Secret Realm 25 29 46.

Her presence helps protect the Flowing Cloud Merchant Association from the Rakshasa Gate. Huo Qiuyang claims that his sect would have swallowed up the association long ago if she were not around 23.

Rescuing Ye Fei and Jiang Yiyun

Jiang Mengyun first appears when her niece, Jiang Yiyun, calls for help during a Fire Crow attack. She annihilates the approaching flock with tiny swords of true qi, then explains that Yiyun’s innate bewitching fragrance body attracts Demon Beasts within fifty li. She refuses to treat Ye Fei as indebted to her, since her niece caused the danger, and gives him a Storage Pouch before taking Yiyun home 15.

Mentoring Ye Fei

Through Ning Siyu, Jiang Mengyun accepts Ye Fei as a helper for her herb garden. She gives him the Skin Refining Pill formula, tells him to reach Qi Refining perfection within a year, and reassures him that she already knows his Azure Dragon Valley secret 24 25.

She provides an earthfire chamber for his alchemy practice and watches his progress, judging his talent comparable to Luo Yue’s. After he produces Skin Refining Pills, she takes him to Falling Waterfall Peak and supervises his skin tempering. She confirms his success but warns that spirit artifacts can still injure him 27 28 29.

Jiang Mengyun also advises him to gain experience outside the sect rather than cultivate in isolation indefinitely. Before his return to Hidden Dragon Village, she gives him protective supplies and cautions him against deception and carelessness in the cultivation world 31.

Entering the Divine Feather Secret Realm

Seeking the realm’s sole soul-devouring ganoderma for her ascension preparations, Jiang Mengyun asks Ye Fei to carry her inside the Azure Dragon Sword. This allows her to evade the entry restriction against cultivators above Qi Refining. She supplies Azure Cloud Pills to strengthen him beforehand and keeps their arrangement secret from Jiang Yiyun 37 38 42 43.

Inside the realm, she disguises her face and emerges from the sword with her cultivation suppressed. Using her previous experience and intact divine sense, she guides Ye Fei to the Formation God Hall, where they become trapped in the six-story Array God Tower 46 47.

During the tower’s trials, she helps identify fragmented characters and uses her peculiar fragrance to distract Ye Fei from the agony of receiving formation insights. While mentally impaired, he gropes her; she kicks him away, then revives him with a pill. A later incident nearly escalates further, but he regains control upon seeing her tears and releases her. Although distressed and uncertain how to face him, she does not blame him and recognizes that his restraint prevented an irrevocable mistake 47 48 49.

After the trials, Jiang Mengyun resumes their journey without discussing the incident. She leads Ye Fei to mortal-cleansing herbs and suggests transplanting some into the Azure Dragon Sword before they proceed toward Soul-Devouring Valley 50.

Personality

Jiang Mengyun is patient and generous toward younger cultivators. She does not reproach Ye Fei for his initial infatuation, supplies him with resources, and explains cultivation problems rather than dismissing his questions. Her guidance balances cultivation with practical experience and caution 15 24 31 41.

With Jiang Yiyun, she combines affection with firm correction. Rather than punish Ye Fei for avoiding her niece, she tells Yiyun to show restraint and improve her cultivation so that she can become a genuine companion on his cultivation path 26.

She is candid about wanting the soul-devouring ganoderma and does not force Ye Fei to enter the secret realm on her behalf. Despite her seniority, she becomes embarrassed when asking for his help 37 38.
