Background / History

Ancient Era

The Great Thousand World was the destination of Dou Di ascending from the Dou Qi Continent. Fengtian, a Dou Di from tens of thousands of years earlier, traveled there and left notes on Spiritual Array cultivation for later generations. The Heavenly Huang Clan's ancestor also originated from the Great Thousand World 22 167 213.

Ancient warfare against the Extraterrestrial Demon Clan shaped the world's geography. Battles involving Heavenly Sovereigns were powerful enough to fragment its land into the many continents that exist in the present. The Lord of Myriad Tribulations created the Heavenly Dao Myriad Tribulations Body in response to the invaders' slaughter, but ultimately fell to an enemy emperor 363.

The Heavenly Dao Sect was another major power destroyed while fighting the invaders. The Luo God Clan protected its surviving disciples, contributing to the clan's feud with the Blood God Clan. The Immortal Emperor later sacrificed his life to seal the Heavenly Evil God, and the Undying Lord guarded the seal for tens of thousands of years 334 498.

Isolation of the Dou Qi Continent

Before ascending, Tou She Ancient God sealed both the spatial passage to the Great Thousand World and the emperor's origin needed to become a Dou Di. This prevented further Dou Di from emerging on the Dou Qi Continent. Xiao Tian Ce consequently sought a means of reopening the passage rather than relying solely on the Ancient Emperor's Inheritance 135 213.

After preparing protective measures for his companions, Xiao Tian Ce departed through the spatial passage. He fought the Chaos Demon King along the way, ended the battle before it could destroy the passage, and crossed the world's barrier with Ling'er concealed inside him 289 293.

Rise of the Northern Powers

Xiao Tian Ce established White Jade Capital after defeating the True Phoenix Clan and selected the Northern Nether Continent for its headquarters. The Luo God Clan, Sky Dome Academy, and Heavenly Net Hall agreed to relocate there, while the Four Seas Commerce Association moved its headquarters 412.

The Endless Fire Domain and Supreme Martial Realm subsequently emerged alongside White Jade Capital. Together, they strengthened the Northern Front to the point that it was described as harder for the Extraterrestrial Demon Clan to breach than the Holy Abyss Continent. Their northern locations earned them the informal collective name Three Great Northern Powers 477 504.

Continuing Demon War

An invasion threatening White Jade Capital prompted Qin Tian to order reinforcements from the Great Thousand Palace and the Five Primordial Gu Clans. The attackers' undetected arrival raised fears that they had either evaded the Holy Abyss Continent's surveillance or discovered another route into the Northern Defense Line 435.

Over the following fifty-odd years, the Great Thousand World gained the upper hand. The Holy Abyss Continent remained a front line, but its settlements became more populous and merchant associations returned. A later rescue operation in enemy territory escalated the conflict when the Saint Heavenly Demon Emperor ordered a united war against the Great Thousand World 486 498.

Origin-Power Conflict

Xiao Tian Ce eventually confronted the world's Embryo of the Plane over advancement to the Overlord Realm. Unable to defeat him, the Embryo conceded after he threatened to cooperate with the Heavenly Evil God and seize its origin power. The origin it surrendered also restored Ling'er, enabling the Dou Qi Continent to begin evolving into a world comparable in vastness to the Great Thousand World 517 518.

After reaching the Overlord Realm, Xiao Tian Ce promised to expel the Extraterrestrial Demon Clan and eliminate the Heavenly Evil God. He then entered the Land of Ten Thousand Tombs, shattered the Demon-Transforming Grand Array, and reached the sealed enemy underground 519.

Geography

The world contains numerous continents, including ten great supercontinents. Its present continental configuration is attributed to ancient battles between overwhelmingly powerful cultivators 363 506.

Access from Lower Planes

Spatial Passages and the Barrier

• Spatial passages connect lower planes to the Great Thousand World. Raging void winds outside them can kill even arrivals with exceptionally powerful bodies 293.
• Void storms can threaten travelers and separate groups during arrival. Xiao Tian Ce prepared Spiritual Arrays to protect his companions 289.
• Passages repair themselves provided attacks do not exceed their structural limit 293.
• The entry barrier constantly flows. Travelers crossing at the same time are not guaranteed to reach the same destination 293.
• The Embryo of the Plane formed the barrier automatically to prevent invasions by outsiders 293.

Energy Conversion

• Lower-plane energy is suppressed on arrival. Cultivators must replace it with spiritual qi before regaining their strength 293.
• The conversion period is dangerous. Even powerful Dou Di can become vulnerable to imprisonment or enslavement 261 289.
• Local assistance can accelerate recovery. Luo Tianshen helped Xiao Yan convert his Dou Qi before he left Luoshui City 325.
• Huai En's Tunling Clan bloodline provided an exception: it automatically devoured and converted spiritual energy, allowing him to avoid capture by a Slave-Catching Squad 377.
• The later fully opened passage transformed the Dou Qi Continent. Spiritual power poured in from the Great Thousand World and rapidly converted the continent's Dou Qi 518.

Cultivation Realms

The early realm outline comes from Xiao Tian Ce's explanation before entering the world. Later narration identifies Heavenly Sovereign's grades more specifically 213 295.

• Dou Di correspondence: Xiao Tian Ce initially suspects that Dou Di corresponds to Earth Sovereign. After completing his own energy conversion, he identifies himself as a Great Perfection Earth Sovereign 213 320.
• Political weight: Ninth-Grade Sovereigns and Earth Sovereigns can establish themselves as major figures on a continent, but Heavenly Sovereign strength is needed to truly secure a position among the world's great powers 373.
• Later Overlord advancement: Xiao Tian Ce learns that reaching the Overlord Realm requires the Embryo of the Plane's origin power. Its concession enables his eventual breakthrough 517 518.

Spiritual Veins

Spiritual veins accelerate cultivation and become especially important again at Heavenly Sovereign, when they can be sensed within the body and refined with heartfire to perfect the spiritual body 213.

• Divine veins are exceptionally rare and improve the likelihood of reaching Heavenly Sovereign without guaranteeing it 213.
• Spiritual-vein divine abilities can emerge from these veins; the strongest can rival top peerless divine abilities 213.
• Bloodline comparison: spiritual veins generally have more uses than bloodlines in this world, while bloodline traits remain particularly prominent among super divine beasts 444.

Techniques and Dharma Bodies

Specialist Professions

• Spiritual Array Masters — construct defensive, offensive, and cultivation-support arrays. High-level practitioners are highly sought after by factions 213.
• Battle Array Masters — a specialist path distinct from ordinary cultivation and Spiritual Array cultivation 403.
• Artifact refiners — another recognized profession 403.
• Alchemists — rare in the Great Thousand World. White Jade Capital, the Endless Fire Domain, and the Pill God Clan eventually become its three sacred grounds of pill refining 403 502.

Major Powers

Great Thousand Palace

• Membership is voluntary. Heavenly Sovereigns can join as guest elders after review; Saint-Grade Heavenly Sovereigns become elders 334 373.
• Its ordinary role is largely symbolic in peacetime. It mobilizes the world's strength when the evil clan invades 334.
• The Great Thousand Tower is its branch responsible for guarding the Holy Abyss Continent and monitoring enemy activity 334.
• Demon Slaying Tokens absorb enemy remnant souls for demon-slaying points and measure their owners' actual combat strength, helping the Palace assign suitable reinforcements 373.
• Demon-slaying points can be exchanged for valuable rewards, including Peerless Divine Abilities 334.

World Will and Origin Power

Embryo of the Plane

• Maintains the world's inhabitants: according to the Embryo, its disappearance would cause all living beings born in the Great Thousand World to weaken and eventually die 517.
• Rejects outsiders: Ling'er hides inside Xiao Tian Ce to avoid detection, while the Heavenly Evil God spends his long confinement working to eliminate the world's rejection of him 293 512.
• Controls a Void Space where it confronts Xiao Tian Ce using elemental power and the Earth Kui Supreme Dharma Body 516 517.
• Covets Ling'er's origin: it admits that it originally intended to devour the Embryo of the Plane inside Xiao Tian Ce and compensate him afterward 518.
• Surrenders origin power rather than risk destruction: this restores Ling'er and supplies the basis for Xiao Tian Ce's Overlord advancement 517 518.

Firmament Ranking

• Nature: a supreme divine treasure and manifestation of the Great Thousand World's will 515.
• Narrative significance: Ling'er initially believes Xiao Tian Ce may need to earn a mark on it before she can attempt to absorb the world's origin and replace its Embryo of the Plane 431.
