Background / History
A hundred years before his return as Chu Feng, Chu Mu was a notorious Demon Venerable. He devastated major sects’ Spirit Herb Gardens, sexually violated prominent female cultivators, and killed countless innocents. The Dao Alliance did not issue a warrant because he had not crossed its stated bottom line, but the offended powers eventually united and killed him in a forbidden land 115.
Leng Xi participated in that encirclement after he violated the Moonlit Holy Land’s previous Holy Maiden. During the battle, Chu Mu placed a curse on Leng Xi. After returning through possession of Chu Feng, he activated it during a flare-up of her Mysterious Yin Pure Spirit Body, enslaved her, and forced her to surrender her soul blood 115 142.
His return was uncovered through an old woman’s divination. Rather than immediately attack him, she planned to investigate his resurrection contingencies and notify the Evil-Slaying Office, fearing that killing his current body would merely alert him 114 115.
Appearance
- True likeness: Exceptionally handsome, with dark eyes expressing greed and possessiveness. He reshaped Chu Feng’s flesh to match his own divine soul when he abandoned the disguise 186.
- Li Xiao’s body: When Chu Mu took control, Li Xiao’s blood-red eyes turned purple and his bearing became eerie 253.
- Shared Primordial Immortal Palace form: Manifested with half an exquisitely beautiful woman’s face and half his own, carrying both immortal essence and demon essence 263.
- Innate Dao Embryo: Nine-colored, glazed-crystal-like flesh covered in flowing Great Dao law patterns; his eyes became indifferent rather than openly greedy 268.
- After devouring the Demon Savage Continent’s will: Dark-green patterns appeared on his body, deepening its Heavenly Dao markings 269.
Personality
Chu Mu treats women as possessions rather than partners. Mu Yao’s rejection provokes threats of forced demon planting, while her use of Li Yang’s words to condemn him is, in his eyes, an intolerable betrayal. He also seeks to hurt Li Yang by killing those around him and taking attractive survivors into his harem 186 187.
His claims of immortality and protagonist status coexist with extreme caution. He buys redundant escape talismans, prepares protection against ambushes, and withholds decisive treasures until he believes their timing will prevent interference. Li Yang’s willingness to begin combat with lethal trump cards repeatedly frightens him 182 187 189 240 245.
He is particularly skilled at identifying others’ emotional vulnerabilities. He first gains the Demon Consort’s confidence through apparent devotion, then secures protection by making her swear upon her love for Rahu—an obligation he considers stronger than an ordinary oath 241 254.
His temperament is also affected by his resurrection technique. Splitting his divine soul changes his disposition, and possessing Chu Feng gives him the host’s arrogant, wastrel traits, undermining the calculating restraint he previously possessed as a Demon Venerable 182 249 250.
Abilities & Skills
Dao Heart Demon Planting
Plants demon seeds containing portions of his divine soul, providing hidden influence and opportunities for resurrection 182 250.
- Resurrection: Can return through a seeded host after the destruction of another body 250.
- Concealed possession: Secretly divided his soul and possessed the Primordial Immortal Palace figure, preserving a second will inside the contest for the Heavenly Dao 263.
- Disguised delivery: Attempted to plant a seed in Mu Yao through a Sacred Healing Pill; she crushed the pill and exposed the attempt 182.
- Heavenly Dao targeting: Tried to plant a seed containing all his Dao rhythm into the Nine-Colored Light Orb, intending to control whichever competing will prevailed 245.
- Personality cost: Soul division and host influence alter his temperament 182 250.
- Li Xiao’s safeguard: A symbiotic restrictive seal prevented Chu Mu from fully consuming Li Xiao’s will; doing so would also extinguish Chu Mu 253.
- Countermeasures: Rahu eliminated his resurrection methods within the world and recovered his soul blood and demon seeds, which Li Yang destroyed 267.
Great Annihilation Heaven-Swallowing Forbidden Canon
A forbidden cultivation method underlying his plan to devour Heavenly Dao wills and replace them, rather than merely enslave them 248.
- Uses the Great Annihilation Heaven-Devouring Demon Seal to consume Heavenly Dao power 263 269 270.
- Combined that seal with the possessed figure’s Primordial Dao-Transforming Seal to defeat the Demon Consort in their clash of wills 263.
- Absorbed the Demon Savage Continent’s Heavenly Dao and began devouring the Nine Provinces’ will, growing stronger with each portion consumed 269 270.
- Exploited the two domains’ mutually exhausting battle rather than confronting both wills at full strength 250 269.
Heavenly Dao Authority and Innate Dao Embryo
After becoming the Great World’s Heavenly Dao, Chu Mu could command its power of heaven and earth and use its origin to forge a physical body 265 267.
- Maintained protection that resisted Li Yang and hundreds of thousands of attacking cultivators 267.
- Intended to turn the Great World into a portable minor world and use it to devour the other two domains 268.
- Shattered the sword cultivators’ phantom Immortal-Slaying Sword with a single application of Heavenly Dao power 270.
- Wove Heavenly Dao laws into layered shields and an enormous cocoon around his Innate Dao Embryo 275.
- Remained subject to the Great World’s restrictions on power at or above Spirit Transformation, despite possessing far greater Heavenly Dao authority 267 270.
Villain-Point System
His system provides divination, a shop, rewards, warnings, and emergency assistance 187 270 274 275.
- Earned villain points from the encirclement and slaughter he orchestrated against Li Yang’s allies 187.
- Spent all three available divination attempts to determine Li Yang’s condition during seclusion 187.
- Purchased immortal-rank escape talismans and the Heavenly Origin Chessboard; the system lent him points for the latter 187 241.
- Received the title “Domain Nemesis” and ten million villain points; his balance later exceeded one billion 270 274.
- Reconstructed his will after his Innate Dao Embryo was destroyed, before being erased by an Upper Realm Divine Punishment Thunderbolt 275 276.
Halberd Combat
Fights with a Demonic Halberd, using overwhelming spiritual power and demonic energy 186 189.
- Heaven-Opening Halberd Strike: Shattered Xing Jun’s initial torrent of Sword Dao power 186.
- Destroyed dozens or hundreds of flying swords with individual strikes while trapped in Xing Jun’s formation 186.
- Repeatedly attacked one point on Black Tortoise’s shell until he pierced both the shell and the Black Tortoise Space 188.
- Could not withstand Li Yang’s successive Stunning Sword Strikes, which damaged and then severed his halberd and cut off an arm 189.
Detection, Precognition, and Deception
- Illusion-Piercing Immortal Eye: Located Black Tortoise and Black Serpent despite concealment and later obstructed Li Yang’s escape 188 193.
- Precognition: Evaded Li Yang’s initial surprise sword strike after receiving a warning of imminent death 188 189.
- Battlefield deception: Fabricated Li Yang’s severed head, convincing combatants that he was dead and damaging the sword cultivators’ morale 188.
- Recruitment: Used promises of inheritances, ascension, and spoils to encourage resistance against Li Yang 238 262.
Equipment / Weapons / Items
- Demonic Halberd — Main weapon; repeatedly broken by Li Yang’s sword strikes 186 189 240.
- Azure crystal pendant — Shattered to warn that his approaching attack would result in his death 188.
- Immortal-rank transposition / position-swapping talismans — Enabled entry through inheritance restrictions, tactical relocation, and repeated escapes. He deliberately purchased a spare before attacking Li Yang in seclusion 187 193 195.
- Heavenly Origin Chessboard replica — System-purchased treasure that formed the Heavenly Origin Realm, manipulated space, and helped him seize the nine-colored Dao rhythm. Mass attacks eventually damaged it beyond effective use 239 240 241 250.
- Black Floating Raft — Made him intangible, but had a limited duration and vulnerable transitions. Destroyed with Chu Feng’s body 245 248 253.
- Ancient devil-rune shield — Dispersed Tu Nine Provinces’ ambush against him while he attempted to seed the Heavenly Dao 245.
- Immortal-crane talisman — Summoned a crane for escape after he took control of Li Xiao’s body 253.
- Nine-Colored Light Orb — Contained the competing Heavenly Dao wills. Chu Mu sent it away at the moment Chu Feng’s body was destroyed, preserving his larger scheme 245 249.
Relationships
- Chu Feng — Possessed host and public identity. The host’s temperament influenced Chu Mu; Li Yang destroyed this body and its divine soul, without eliminating Chu Mu’s other contingencies 115 249 250.
- Li Yang — Principal enemy. Chu Mu sought to kill him, destroy his support network, and seize those close to him; Li Yang ultimately erased his remaining will 182 187 276.
- Mu Yao — Former intimate partner who repudiated his abuse. He attempted concealed demon planting and later threatened to force her back under his control 140 182 186.
- Feng Wangshu — Victim of his past abuse; he threatened to claim her and Mu Yao by force 115 140.
- Leng Xi — Survivor of the historical encirclement whom he later enslaved through a curse and refined soul blood 142.
- Ning Qingfeng — Intended victim of possession and impersonation: he threatened to make her believe he was Li Yang 182.
- Li Xiao — Demon-seed host, uneasy ally, and later shared body. Li Xiao first helped interrupt his Heavenly Dao planting attempt, then allowed him control to access system-provided escape measures 153 245 253.
- Demon Consort — Patron, rival, and manipulated protector. He exploited her trust and love for Rahu before defeating her in the struggle for the Heavenly Dao 241 254 263.
- Devil Ancestor Rahu — Protected Li Xiao rather than Chu Mu, handed one of Chu Mu’s souls to Li Yang for destruction, and later removed his remaining resurrection contingencies within the world 262 267.
- Primordial Immortal Palace figure — Secretly seeded victim whose body and will became Chu Mu’s decisive hidden foothold in the Heavenly Dao contest 232 263.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Exposure in the Moonlit Holy Land
- Divination established that Chu Feng was Chu Mu reborn through possession, prompting an investigation into his resurrection methods rather than immediate execution 114 115.

- He eventually admitted his identity and demon planting after Mu Yao exposed the Sacred Healing Pill trap 182.
Ten Thousand Sword Mountain
- Attacked Mu Yao’s defensive position and fought Xing Jun, whose sword formation delayed him until his flying swords were exhausted 186 187.
- Used system divination and immortal-rank talismans to infiltrate Li Yang’s seclusion site, then spread the false claim that Li Yang had been killed 187 188.
- Li Yang’s emergence reversed their confrontation. Chu Mu suffered severe damage and later escaped pursuit and the slaughter at the Market Ruins 189 195 199.
Seizure of the Great World’s Heavenly Dao

- Shen Yaoyin publicized his ambition to consume all Three Great Domains, turning previously uninvolved spectators against him 249.
- Survived the destruction of Chu Feng’s body through his contingencies, operated within Li Xiao, and obtained the Demon Consort’s protection 249 253 254.
- After another soul was destroyed, revealed his hidden will within the Primordial Immortal Palace figure. His victory there allowed him to become the Great World’s Heavenly Dao and complete an Innate Dao Embryo 262 263 265 268.
Domain Devouring and Final Death
- Consumed the exhausted Demon Savage Continent Heavenly Dao and began consuming the Nine Provinces’ will while cultivators outside the domain membrane struggled to interfere 269 270 271.
- Li Yang’s final Stunning Sword Strike pierced his law-woven cocoon and destroyed the Innate Dao Embryo 275.
- His system restored his will, but the Nine Provinces Heavenly Dao appealed to the Upper Realm, whose Divine Punishment Thunderbolt erased the system 275 276.
- Chu Mu then entered Li Yang’s Purple Mansion to seize his Nascent Soul. Li Yang detonated the Immortal-Slaying Sword Replica inside his Sea of Consciousness, erasing Chu Mu at the cost of his own remaining body and Nascent Soul 276.
