Geography and Domain Structure
- Border with the Nine Provinces: The continent approached through the starry space beyond Kun Province. The Ning Lineage’s ancestral lands were positioned to face it first 100 116 152.
- Landscape: Its border featured towering trees, while its interior included mountains and seas inhabited by ancient colossal beasts and primordial variants 152 270.
- Domain membrane: Before the merger, an invisible membrane separated the domains. Even Human Immortal Supremes required secret arts to leave the Nine Provinces’ membrane 152.
- Heavenly Dao: The continent possessed its own Heavenly Dao Will, manifested as a dark green halo. It was weaker than the Nine Provinces’ Heavenly Dao Will 269.
- Joining region: The collision produced valuable opportunities through chaotic world essence; even ordinary spirit herbs could transform into immortal herbs 137.
Inhabitants and Cultivation
Demon Race Society
The continent’s inhabitants included true dragons, enormous demonic birds, savage wilderness demons, and pureblood races described as Elder Savage Beasts and Primordial Great Fiends 115 152.
- Survival through strength: Chen Geng described its governing principle as “the weak are meat for the strong.” Prodigies were raised amid life-and-death struggles rather than sheltered competition 117 118.
- Bloodline-based standing: Demon Race prodigies were judged primarily by bloodline strength rather than the human classifications of special physiques and talent tiers 127.
- Unequal access to resources: Even the influential Black Tortoise clan struggled to obtain opportunities. Its defensive strengths did not prevent more combat-oriented beasts from taking resources, contributing to slow growth 228.
- Human forms: Many Peace Faction demons assumed human form. Most friendly demons encountered by Li Yang could do so at Golden Core, while retaining some bestial features 156 203.
- Sword cultivation: The Sword Chief stated that the continent lacked a sword cultivation heritage. The Azure Phoenix nevertheless argued that demons could cultivate swords, citing a sword practitioner from the Nine Provinces’ Demon Court 134 157.

Ancestor Blood Pool
- The Ancestor Blood Pool was the continent’s most important grotto-heaven blessed land. Access was scarce and visits were brief even for exceptional prodigies 127.
- Chen Geng offered to petition the Demon Court for three days of access as a reward for killing Li Yang 127.
- Despite its name, the pool was described as boundlessly vast, like an ocean. Later prodigies entered through a blood-colored vortex above the Myriad Demon Battlefield 283.
Factions and Major Clans
Political Factions
The impending convergence divided the continent over whether to pursue war or peace. Xuanyou emphasized that Chen Geng’s decisions did not represent every inhabitant 132 133.
| Faction | Position and actions |
|---|---|
| War Faction | Favored war with the Nine Provinces. Joined the Sun-Slaying Alliance in attacking the Xuanyuan Sword Sect’s inheritance grounds and later became a target of Li Yang’s retaliatory campaign 133 175 204. |
| Peace Faction | Favored cooperation despite expecting conflict over resources. Its demons helped defend Li Yang’s allies during the inheritance battles 133 187. |
Major Clans
- Yinglong Clan — One of the continent’s leading and mightiest races. Chen Geng headed the clan, which was protected by several Demon Immortal Yinglong before its extermination 134 137 182.
- Black Tortoise Clan — Held considerable influence, though its members’ defensive specialization limited their ability to compete for resources. Xuanyou represented a peace-seeking position during the prodigy battle 132 228.
- Nine-Tailed Celestial Fox Clan — Represented among both the delegation’s immortal experts and the Peace Faction’s younger generation. A fox ancestor sought to arrange a match between a young clan member and Li Yang 134 156.
History
Approach to the Nine Provinces
The Moonlit Holy Lord announced that a foreign demon domain was approaching Kun Province, with its intentions initially uncertain. For the Ning Lineage, the impending connection represented its greatest crisis in a million years: its territory would become the front line of any invasion 115 116.
The visiting delegation included Chen Geng, an Yinglong at perfected Mahayana, three Demon Immortal Supremes, and fifty-three Heavenly Prodigies. Chen Geng wounded Ning Qingfeng, insulted the Nine Provinces’ leaders, and demanded that humans evacuate a hundred thousand li of border territory to create a buffer zone 117 118 134 135.
Battle of Heavenly Prodigies
The Supreme Truth Jade Radiance Palace’s Palace Master accepted a contest to determine which side would yield territory. The Nine Provinces’ Dao Alliance approved the stakes, and both sides swore a great dao oath 117 118.
| Condition | Terms |
|---|---|
| Territorial stake | The losing side would yield a hundred thousand li for a buffer zone 117. |
| Battlefield | The Black Tortoise Battlefield equalized cultivation and prevented outside intervention 117 118. |
| Demon contestants | Fifty-three prodigies entered in an order chosen by their delegation 118. |
| Human challengers | The Nine Provinces could select an opponent for each round; each person could take the stage only once 118. |
| Combat | Fights were to the death, with additional matches if required 117 118. |
The Nine Provinces suffered severe losses; ninety-nine prodigies had died by the time the Palace Master appealed for another fighter. Li Yang then reversed the contest, killing more than half the demon delegation’s prodigies 121 134.
Xuanyou, the final demon contestant, sought a peaceful resolution rather than Li Yang’s death. He ultimately surrendered his soul blood to Li Yang and survived 128 132 133.
Defeat and Destruction of the Yinglong Clan
The Sword Chief acknowledged the Nine Provinces’ victory and rejected the continent’s territorial claim. He allowed the three Demon Immortal Supremes to leave but insisted that Chen Geng remain 134.
Meanwhile, more than twenty Human Immortal sword cultivators had invaded the continent and exterminated the Yinglong Clan. They returned during the confrontation and presented the clan’s destruction as a warning against further aggression 137.
The delegation agreed to treat Chen Geng’s duel with Li Yang as a personal grievance rather than grounds for war. Li Yang killed him in the cultivation-equalizing battlefield, after which Ning Qingfeng formally announced the Nine Provinces’ victory 135 138.
The Joining and Inheritance Conflicts
The domains’ Heavenly Daos began clashing before their lands fully connected, disrupting celestial movements and the laws of heaven and earth. During the collision, a mountain a million zhang tall broke through the membrane into Kun Province; spatial turbulence consumed land, rivers surged skyward, and Heavenly Dao chains tore fissures through the sky 151 155.
The Joining also opened competition for inheritances and newly formed resources. Upper Realm seniors sent blessings and legacies to both human and Demon Race lineages 149.
Within the Great World of Ten Thousand Immortals, demons led by the Azure Phoenix specifically targeted Sword Cultivators. Later, the War Faction attacked the Xuanyuan inheritance grounds, while Peace Faction demons intervened on the defenders’ side 157 158 175 187.
Loss of the Heavenly Dao
Nearly a year after the Joining, the Nine Provinces’ Heavenly Dao Will was close to defeating the continent’s exhausted will. Chu Mu emerged as the Heavenly Dao of the Great World of Ten Thousand Immortals and exploited their struggle 269.
Using the Great Annihilation Heaven-Swallowing Forbidden Canon, he crushed and devoured the continent’s Heavenly Dao Will. The sky turned gray, blood rain covered the land, mountains trembled, and inhabitants instinctively mourned the disappearance of the will that had nurtured them 269.
When Chu Mu next attacked the Nine Provinces’ Heavenly Dao Will, the continent’s beasts joined their former human enemies in resistance. Their combined attacks produced only a faint ripple in the domain membrane 270.
Incorporation as Demon Savage Province
The final account describes the continent’s Heavenly Dao Will as entirely devoured by the Nine Provinces’ Heavenly Dao. The domains gradually melded, their barriers dissolved, and their membranes became one 278.
Over the following ten years, cultivators surveyed earth veins, cleared spirit veins, measured territory, and pacified inhabitants. Initial demon resistance subsided under the Dao Alliance’s combination of force and concessions, assisted by persuasion from Xun Province’s Demon Court 278.
The Dao Alliance formally named the territory Demon Savage Province. Its incorporation as the tenth province prompted the greater realm’s renaming to the Nine Heavens and Ten Lands 278.
