Appearance

In his Daoist form, Tiger Monster wears yellow robes and has a burly build and powerful appearance 13.

  • Tiger form: Can transform fully into a tiger, including when demonstrating the posture he makes the Chan Sect disciples imitate 19.
  • Half-human form: Appears before Lu Feng with a tiger’s head and large red shorts; Lu Feng finds the sight painful to look at 37.
  • Later clothing: Changes into pink clothes after leaving the Secret Realm. He continues wearing oversized shorts when taunting the Saints from behind Golden Ao Island’s formations 94 129.
  • Temporary loss of fur: Tongtian’s sword attacks slice away large patches of his fur, leaving him partly bare during his subsequent exchanges with Jinguang Xian 96 104.

Personality

Tiger Monster is loud, boastful, and deliberately insulting toward the Chan Sect. He calls its immortals prospective pets, compares Taiyi Zhenren to a “squat winter melon,” and demands Guangchengzi’s robe as though accepting it would be a favor 13 15 16.

He is less quick-witted than Snake Monster and initially fails to recognize attempts to extract information about Lu Feng. Nevertheless, he becomes an effective accomplice and devises the trick that makes Guangchengzi and his fellow disciples kneel before the Little Stone Pagoda 13 14 16 19.

His appetite and acquisitiveness extend beyond food and magical treasures. He drains Taiyi Zhenren’s treasured wine, insists that stolen property belongs to him, and regrets that the Treasure Vault’s doors were burned because his own cultivation grounds need a gate 14 21 35.

Despite his behavior toward outsiders, he respects Lu Feng’s authority. He praises his senior brother, credits his opportunities for the sect’s victory, and restrains himself from coveting the spiritual roots outside Lu Feng’s cave 14 22 23 37.

His desire to acquire “human pets” persists after his advancement. He immediately goes searching for pets after leaving the Secret Realm, unknowingly targets Tongtian, and later declares that riding a Saint would be more impressive than riding a demonic beast 94 129. His confidence against the Saints rests explicitly on Lu Feng’s protection rather than on an ability to defeat them himself 129.

Tiger Monster remains socially blunt despite his growing skill at swindling. He suggests reporting Tongtian’s disguised defeat so Lu Feng can laugh at him, and mistakes Qiongxiao’s affectionate smile for evidence that she has been possessed; both remarks earn him blows from Qiongxiao 104 113. Tongtian regards him as a charlatan-like disciple with a particular talent for hoodwinking people 103.

He also seeks profit from fellow disciples’ incomplete knowledge. Knowing how strong Zhao Gongming has become, he proposes a betting pool aimed at newly returned disciples who have not witnessed the sect’s recent improvements. When faced with responsibility for the resulting loss, he pretends to faint, then immediately revives after Lu Feng threatens to make him cover it alone 118 120.

Abilities & Skills

Treasure-Seizing Cultivation Technique

Tiger Monster’s unnamed cultivation technique can forcibly seize another person’s magical treasure and sever its connection to its owner 21.

  • Its effectiveness depends on Tiger Monster’s own strength 21.
  • He successfully cuts the connection between Guangchengzi and the Heaven-Overturning Seal, preventing its recall by incantation 21.
  • Before severing the connection, he requires Snake Monster’s help to hold the seal against Guangchengzi’s attempts to summon it back 19 20.

Combat and Transformation

Tiger Monster combines spiritual power, transformation, and direct physical attacks 13 19 20.

  • Effortlessly blocks Taiyi Zhenren’s all-out strike; Chijin Zi judges the two monsters’ strength to be no less than his and Taiyi’s 13.
  • Holds Guangchengzi’s hand in his jaws while struggling over the Heaven-Overturning Seal 20.
  • Uses the enlarged seal to knock down the assembled Chan Sect disciples and drive Daoist Randeng back several meters 19.
  • Early limit: During the initial confrontation, Guangchengzi estimates the monsters’ cultivation as no higher than Daluo Golden Immortal. His later full-powered Quasi-Sage attack threatens to gravely injure or kill them, requiring Zhao Gongming’s intervention 17 22.
  • After reaching peak Daluo Golden Immortal, dodges Tongtian’s first sword strike while Tongtian is suppressing his strength, but subsequent attacks cut away his fur. Jinguang Xian later intervenes to block another strike 94 96 98.
  • Kills Juliusun outright with a single blow from the Jade Void Palace plaque and then pursues Guangchengzi and Daoist Yu Ding 142.
  • Later limit: Recognizes that Qiongxiao is on a different level from himself and Jinguang Xian. He also concludes that the disguised Tongtian’s revealed power could have crushed both of them had he not held back 103 104.

Mind-Bewitching Technique

Tiger Monster uses a bewitching technique to compel submission from a prospective human pet 96.

  • Temporarily makes the disguised Tongtian bow while Tongtian is struggling with seals on his own spiritual power 96.
  • Climbs onto Tongtian’s neck and orders him to move forward 96.
  • The effect is not lasting: Tongtian breaks free of the spell, forcibly breaks some of his seals, and retaliates with the Qingping Sword 96.

Law Comprehension

His progress in the Secret Realm is associated with the acquisition of a new law. Lu Feng recognizes the corresponding system reward as evidence that Tiger Monster has emerged from seclusion, but the law is not named or explained 94.

Deception and Extortion

Tiger Monster works closely with Snake Monster to exploit the Chan Sect disciples’ desire for Lu Feng’s opportunities 14 19.

  • Withholds supposed information until Taiyi Zhenren and Chijin Zi provide Osmanthus Brew and Myriad Spirit Fruits, then demands more without answering 14.
  • Presents a small pagoda as an opportunity-finding device and persuades Guangchengzi to lend him the Heaven-Overturning Seal to activate it 16 17.
  • Makes the disciples kneel before the pagoda, then demands three loud kowtows; the demand exposes the deception 19.
  • Forces Daoist Randeng to acknowledge an unpaid debt through an IOU for two Innate Spiritual Treasures 27.
  • Claims that his intentions toward the disguised Tongtian were honest and that Tongtian attacked him without justification, provoking another attack that Jinguang Xian blocks 98.
  • Organizes a betting pool with Jinguang Xian for Tongtian’s match against Zhao Gongming, offering one-to-one payouts for Tongtian and five-to-one payouts for Zhao Gongming while expecting the latter to win 118.

Demolition

  • Helps Golden Hoop Immortal dismantle and steal the Jade Void Palace and strip valuable materials and plants from its surroundings 33.
  • Golden Hoop Immortal considers Tiger Monster and Snake Monster indispensable demolition helpers and promises to bring them on a future job 33.
  • Lu Feng later selects the former demolition quartet for a covert operation against the rebuilt Jade Void Palace, providing aura-concealing protective items and a teleportation formation 135.

Provocation

Tiger Monster’s insults can draw together otherwise antagonistic opponents through their shared desire to kill him. Lu Feng jokingly describes this as an ability to unite people; Taishang, Jieyin, and Zhunti become unusually united after his repeated taunts 129 130.

  • Provokes Taishang into attacking Golden Ao Island’s fused formations with his full strength 129.
  • Continues mocking Jieyin and Zhunti after their attacks fail, complaining that their heads are too shiny 130.
  • Later becomes Zhunti’s immediate target on the battlefield, prompting Duobao to intervene 146.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Heaven-Overturning Seal / Heaven-Flipping Seal — An Innate Spiritual Treasure formed from the pillar of Buzhou Mountain and refined by Heavenly Venerable Yuanshi for Guangchengzi. Tiger Monster obtains it through deception, uses it against the Chan Sect, and severs its owner connection. It remains in his possession when Randeng attempts to count it toward the sect’s debt 16 17 19 21 27. Lu Feng still associates the seal with him after his emergence from the Secret Realm 94.
  • Little Stone Pagoda — A small tower-shaped sculpture that glows when Tiger Monster blows on it. He claims it was left by Lu Feng to guide disciples to opportunities, but uses that claim as part of the seal-stealing scheme; no genuine guidance function is demonstrated 16 18 19.
  • Jade Void Palace Plaque / Signboard — A signboard retained from the stolen palace, visible near the sect’s grounds when Tiger Monster recounts the demolition. He later uses the plaque as a blunt weapon to kill Juliusun and threaten Guangchengzi 112 142.
  • Aura-Concealing Protective Items — Protective items supplied by Lu Feng for the demolition quartet’s covert mission against the new Jade Void Palace. Lu Feng also arranges a teleportation formation for the operation 135.

Relationships

  • Lu Feng — Eldest senior brother and benefactor. Tiger Monster receives one of his opportunities and enthusiastically praises him. Lu Feng forbids the sect’s monsters from eating people under threat of death, a rule Tiger Monster obeys 12 14 15 37. Lu Feng prefers calling him Tiger Monster rather than Mighty Shockwave and declines to interfere with his post-seclusion search for pets 94. Tiger Monster regards Lu Feng as a kindred spirit in stripping enemy holdings and as an ideal to emulate in conversation 112 120.
  • Snake Monster — Junior brother and constant accomplice. The pair coordinate through glances, share food and drink, and fight together to retain the Heaven-Overturning Seal 14 19 20. They later emerge together against the Three Teachings and continue taunting the surviving enemy disciples 140 146.
  • Guangchengzi — Adversary and former owner of the stolen seal. Tiger Monster demands his robe, tricks him into surrendering his treasure, and refuses every attempt to reclaim it 15 17 21. Their conflict becomes lethal during the battle against the Three Teachings, when Tiger Monster pursues him with the Jade Void Palace plaque after killing Juliusun 142.
  • Taiyi Zhenren and Chijin Zi — Initial opponents at the recruitment site. Tiger Monster humiliates them and consumes their supplies while they try to obtain information about Lu Feng 13 14.
  • Zhao Gongming — Protective senior brother. Tiger Monster appeals to him for justice while falsely accusing Guangchengzi of trying to steal his treasure; Zhao Gongming intervenes against Guangchengzi’s attack 21 22. Tiger Monster later relies on his knowledge of Zhao Gongming’s strength when organizing bets on his match against Tongtian, though he is still astonished when Zhao Gongming wins in a single strike 118.
  • Duobao — Senior sect brother who leads reinforcements into the confrontation. He later sends the palace-demolition group to Golden Ao Island rather than accepting responsibility for their actions 20 36. During the later battle, Duobao uses Lu Feng’s Azure Edge Sword to stop Zhunti from attacking Tiger Monster and the other disciples 146.
  • Golden Hoop Immortal / Ma Sui — Senior brother and demolition partner. Recruits Tiger Monster for the Jade Void Palace theft and lets him choose treasures from his haul 33 35.
  • Nezha — Companion on the return from Kunlun Mountain. Tiger Monster helps encourage him to join the Interception Sect and teaches him to act cute when seeking Lu Feng’s approval 34 37.
  • Tongtian — Master and sect leader. While Tongtian is disguised and suppressing his cultivation, Tiger Monster mistakes him for a prospective human pet, briefly makes him bow, and rides on his neck 94 96. After the ensuing battles, Tiger Monster helps deduce his identity from his escalating strength and restraint toward the disciples 103 104. He later accepts Tongtian’s wager on himself during the match against Zhao Gongming 118.
  • Jinguang Xian — Protective senior brother, frequent bantering partner, and fellow betting-pool organizer. Blocks Tongtian’s sword strike against Tiger Monster, then repeatedly rebukes or strikes him for his provocative remarks. Their arguments coexist with cooperation in investigating Tongtian’s identity and organizing wagers 98 104 118 128 129.
  • Qiongxiao — Senior sister whose strength Tiger Monster openly admires. He watches her battle the disguised Tongtian, accompanies her back to consult Lu Feng, and repeatedly earns blows for tactless comments 103 104 113.
  • Taishang, Jieyin, and Zhunti — Saints whom he openly insults and calls prospective human pets while sheltered behind Lu Feng’s formations. His taunts inflame all three; Zhunti later attacks him directly on the battlefield 129 130 146.
  • Juliusun — Chan Sect opponent killed by Tiger Monster with the Jade Void Palace plaque 142.

  • Qiongxiao leads the pair back to the Interception Sect to ask Lu Feng to confirm the stranger’s identity 104.
