Just as several Goblin wind knights took to the sky to meet Jiang You.
On the ground of Monen Plain, in the center of the Goblin camp, a dozen or so humans sat beside a strange creation cast from steel.
A middle-aged man with short blond hair gazed at the vast legion of Winged People in the sky, a trace of nostalgia surfacing in his eyes.
"Back in the day, the Empire had aerial legions ten thousand times stronger than this tribe of Winged People!"
"They, too, bore wings upon their backs and soared through the skies. The Sky Cantors Legion, one of the nine great aerial legions, was far more imposing than these Winged People!"
The beautiful blond girl rolled her eyes and sighed.
"Unfortunately, all of that is in the past. The Empire fell long ago. All we can do now is ensure the Human Race can survive on this land again, rather than go extinct."
"If that really happened, we would be letting down the Empire after everything it sacrificed to protect this world!"
"That's true."
The black-haired human man clearly agreed as well. He asked,
"Fiona, you've met that king of the Winged People up there. What do you think? Could he become an ally?"
The blond girl gave a bitter smile.
"That king of the Winged People isn't so simple!"
"He knows a few secrets, but not many. He seems to want me to believe he also came from our era, and was reborn as one of the Winged People through something called 'Reincarnation'!"
"That's utterly absurd! Even the Empire's strongest Wizard Sequence expert back then could hardly have accomplished something like that!"
The young blue-haired man chuckled.
"Indeed, but I chose to 'believe' him. It seems this king of the Winged People also wants to gain something from us!"
"That's a good thing, Fiona. We should only worry if he wants nothing at all!"
Beside them, however, the black-haired old man said,
"Precisely because of that, we have a chance to win him over."
The blond girl smiled.
"Grandpa Yang, this king of the Winged People claims to have been a member of the Eastern Human Race in that era. Try to find a way to get in touch with him over the next little while!"
"You really won't let an old man rest, will you, girl?"
Yang was at a loss for words.
"All right, I'll go speak with him and see what he wants."
"Mm. If we'd known, we should have set our awakening for an earlier date. Being at the Goblins' mercy now is really hard to stomach!"
The blond girl sighed regretfully.
"Actually, you can't quite put it that way. If the Goblins hadn't happened to breach the secret lock we set, we might never have woken up, even after another ten thousand years! Then the Empire's glory truly would have vanished into the river of time!"
"Look, we once had so many sanctuaries. How many of them are really still around today?"
"That would still be better than being at someone else's mercy!"
The blue-haired man hit the nail on the head with his retort.
Up in the sky.
Among that squad of Goblin knights.
The lead Goblin knight bowed respectfully to Jiang You.
"Honored king of the Winged People, our king, Amigel, has prepared a campsite and all necessary provisions for your people."
Jiang You looked in the direction the Goblin knight indicated. Sure enough, beside the Goblin camp stood a clean, tidy campsite stocked with plenty of provisions and equipment.
He nodded inwardly.
It seems the Goblins really value the Winged People. Amigel is a good fellow!
Seemingly noticing Jiang You's satisfied expression, the Goblin knight continued,
"Honored king of the Winged People, once you have settled your people in, please come to our king's central command tent at sunset today."
"Our king wishes to discuss the details of the campaign against the Titan Giants with the leaders of the various races!"
"All right, I'll be there on time!"
Jiang You agreed.
Before you continue
