Arc 4The Portal Campaign

Great Xia’s forces helped the Elves repel the Demon Clan, but Wolaz’s assault on the Portal led Long Zhan to use a nuclear weapon, leaving many soldiers dead or wounded. With the Portal secured, Great Xia and its new allies began supervising its use, studying magic and electricity, and planning to reclaim Emerald Leaf City without damaging it.

  • Long Zhan halted the drones’ pursuit of the Winged Demons and conserved their batteries as Elder Muyu rallied the Elves against the Corroders.
  • Long Zhan sent cluster shells and mortars through the Portal, then dispatched Lin Mo and Great Xia troops to reinforce the Elves as the Demon Clan breached their defenses.
  • Lin Mo’s soldiers and the Elves fought back with machine guns, artillery, and suicide drones, while Wolaz survived bombardment and led the assault toward the Portal.
  • As Wolaz neared the Portal, Long Zhan ordered a nuclear warhead sent through it despite warnings that it could kill Great Xia’s own soldiers.
  • Kael completed the Portal ritual and struck Wolaz with holy light, forcing the demon commander to flee as the Demon Clan army retreated.
  • Lin Mo found the Portal area devastated and confronted Long Zhan after learning that 123 soldiers had died and many more were wounded.
  • Kael and Elder Muyu remained to supervise the Portal, while Great Xia raised its flag, transported defenses and supplies, and began coordinating with its allies.
  • Lin Mo arranged for Kael and Elder Muyu to study electricity with Qian Zhenhua, and the visitors later joined Great Xia’s cooking squad for their first meal.
  • Long Zhan proposed recruiting powerful fighters, developing weapons, and studying magic, while Lin Mo rejected a thermobaric strike on Emerald Leaf City and planned to learn from Kael and the Elves.

  • Long Zhan ordered the drones to stop pursuing the Winged Demons and conserve their batteries.
  • The Holy Human Race witnesses marveled at the drones’ power, while High Archbishop Kael struggled to maintain the Teleportation Array.
  • Elder Muyu urged the Elf warriors to keep fighting, renewing their morale and helping them reinforce the breach.
  • The Demon Clan brought more than a hundred Corroders onto the battlefield, prompting the Elves to prepare their defenses and fire flaming boulders from catapults.
  • The catapult volley destroyed one Corroder and disrupted the others’ attack, but the surviving Corroders fired streams of acid into the Elves’ front shield wall.

Ch. 77I said RPG, and you went straight to artillery?

The Corroders tore through the Elves’ defense line, prompting Long Zhan to order a 155-millimeter howitzer fired through the fragile Portal. As Elder Muyu prepared a forbidden spell, the shell streaked toward the battlefield.

  • The Corroders dissolved the Elves’ shields, warriors, and magical barrier, opening a breach for the Demon Clan army.
  • Lin Mo warned Long Zhan that the Swarm’s drones could not reach the Corroders, then suggested using RPGs.
  • Long Zhan ordered a 155-millimeter howitzer to fire an anti-armor cluster shell through the Portal despite Qian Zhenhua’s warning that the blast could destabilize it.
  • The artillery crew fired the shell through the Portal toward the Corroders.
  • Elder Muyu prepared to use a forbidden spell as the Elves’ defense collapsed, then heard a shrill whistle from the sky behind them.

Ch. 78Turning a Portal into a fire support position?

Great Xia’s bombardment devastated the Demon Clan army and gave the Elves new hope, while Long Zhan turned the Portal into a firing position and ordered the attack to continue. As another shell curved toward the rear of the demonic horde, the battlefield braced for the next strike.

  • Two Cluster Bombs tore through the Corroders and wounded or killed the Liches maintaining their barriers.
  • Elder Muyu rallied the Elf Warriors by announcing that their allies were supporting them.
  • At Arctic Base, Long Zhan ordered the soldiers to fire Heavy Mortars through the Portal while the cannon reloaded.
  • Cluster Bombs and mortar shells destroyed barriers and precisely blasted the Corroders and Heavy Armor Demon Soldiers, killing more than half the Corroder army.
  • A shell swept toward the rear of the demonic horde as Elder Muyu and the armies watched in shock.

Ch. 79Gatling

Wolaz survived a direct hit from a high-explosive shell, prompting Long Zhan to send soldiers through the Portal to reinforce the Elves. Lin Mo crossed over to coordinate with them and armed himself with a Gatling cannon and an enormous supply of ammunition.

  • Wolaz took a direct hit from a high-explosive shell, survived with minor injuries, and ordered its troops to crush the attackers.
  • Long Zhan ordered two platoons to cross the Portal and reinforce the Elves after the command center confirmed the soldiers could safely travel to the Terra Continent.
  • Lin Mo insisted on crossing to help coordinate with the Elves, and Long Zhan assigned Wu Suowei and Wu Jiandao to protect him.
  • Lin Mo crossed the Portal and ordered the soldiers to bring him a Gatling Vulcan cannon and ammunition.
  • Lin Mo carried the thirty-kilogram Gatling and roughly a hundred and fifty kilograms of equipment and ammunition, stunning the soldiers at the Portal.

Ch. 80All units, deploy! Support the Elf air force!

Lin Mo raced toward the front while Long Zhan sent reinforcements through the Portal and deployed suicide drones to aid the collapsing Elf air force. The drones reached the aerial battlefield and began destroying the Demon Clan's flying forces.

  • Lin Mo sprinted ahead of his four guards, carrying heavy weapons and ammunition, and outran the First Artillery Platoon and Second Assault Platoon.
  • Long Zhan ordered signal troops, engineers, and additional assault platoons through the Portal to support the advance.

Ch. 81Demon Commander Wolaz Goes Berserk

Long Zhan sent Heavy Mortars through the Portal to suppress Demon Commander Wolaz as the Demon Clan attacked the Elves. Wolaz broke away from its army and charged the defenses, where vines, holy magic, and a rocket finally brought it down.

  • Suicide drones destroyed the Demon Clan's flying units, forcing the surviving Winged Demons and Gargoyles to scatter.
  • Long Zhan ordered five Heavy Mortars and Precision-Guided Armor-Piercing Shells sent through the Portal to target Wolaz.
  • Wolaz dodged repeated rocket strikes, retreated through its own troops, then abandoned command and charged toward the Elves' defensive line.
  • Elder Muyu sent vines to restrain Wolaz as a Holy Human Race Mage Adept struck it with holy magic.
  • A rocket hit Wolaz in the waist while it was weakened, and it fell from the cliff to the ground.

Ch. 82Would Great Xia Be Another Demon Clan?

Lin Mo and Great Xia’s soldiers arrived at the Elf Defense Line as their artillery strikes drove back the demon commander and astonished the Holy Human Race. Lin Mo deployed the artillery platoon and set up the assault platoon on the treant Gorut, preparing to open fire as the elven defenses neared collapse.

  • Wolaz retreated into the Demon Clan army under bombardment, while a Holy Human Race mage wondered whether Great Xia’s power came from a god or marked them as another Demon Clan.
  • Elder Muyu spotted Lin Mo and Great Xia’s soldiers arriving, announced that their allies had come, and told Lin Mo the first shield line was close to breaking.
  • Lin Mo sent the First Artillery Platoon to bombard the demons and led the Second Assault Platoon toward the second defense line.
  • Elder Muyu placed Lin Mo and the soldiers on Gorut, who raised them above the battlefield and formed a protective wooden firing platform.
  • Lin Mo’s soldiers mounted their heavy machine guns and loaded his Vulcan Cannon as he prepared to fire on the massed Demon Clan army.

Ch. 83The Six-Barreled Bodhisattva Spins, and All Are Equal!

Lin Mo and the Great Xia soldiers used a Gatling gun, heavy machine guns, and rockets to tear through the Demon Clan vanguard, while Elf magic and Kamikaze Drones strengthened the defenders. The ground and air battles continued, and three Dragons fought two Bone Dragons in the distance.

  • Lin Mo fired the Gatling gun into the Demon Clan vanguard, carving a wide death zone through its ranks.
  • The Assault Platoon Leader ordered the soldiers to fire, and machine guns and a rocket launcher struck the advancing demons.

  • Lin Mo resumed firing as three Dragons fought two Bone Dragons in a deadly clash beyond the defensive line.

Ch. 84The final all-out assault

The elves’ artillery devastated the Demon Clan vanguard, but Wolaz ordered the army to push forward behind heavy shields and Siege Behemoths. Lin Mo was targeted by a Throwing Demon’s spear as the attackers advanced toward the defenders.

  • The Artillery Platoon fired rapid mortar volleys that wiped out nearly a third of the Demon Clan’s Lesser Demons and Hellhounds.
  • Lin Mo watched the bombardment from Gorut the Treant, retched at the battlefield’s stench, and spotted four charging Siege Behemoths.

  • Heavy Armor Demon Soldiers advanced behind Tower Shields that deflected machine-gun fire, while the defenders reported that their rocket ammunition was gone.
  • A Throwing Demon hurled a Bone Spear at Lin Mo, but Wu Suowei knocked him down and Gorut blocked the spear with its trunk.
  • Wolaz concealed itself among the four Siege Behemoths as they charged through the defenders’ fire.

Ch. 85The power of a thermobaric blast

The defenders tested a man-portable Thermobaric Bomb against the Siege Behemoths, devastating the surrounding demons and badly burning one behemoth. As the behemoths clashed with the Treants, Wolaz seized the opening and raced toward the Portal.

  • A soldier fired a Thermobaric Bomb at a Siege Behemoth, vaporizing nearby low-order demons and grievously injuring higher-order units.
  • Lin Mo realized the weapon could have killed the behemoth if a medium-sized bomb had been used.
  • Wolaz recognized the Portal as the source of the reinforcements and ordered the attack to continue.
  • Elder Muyu and the Holy Human Race mages attacked the Siege Behemoths, but the Liches' shields blocked most of their magic.
  • The Siege Behemoths crashed into the Treants, drawing the defenders' attention as Wolaz sprinted through the Elf formation toward the Portal.

Ch. 86Crisis! Anti-Invasion Plan B!

Elder Muyu failed to stop Wolaz from charging toward the Portal, while Great Xia’s command center watched the threat approach. Long Zhan activated the Level B Contingency Plan and ordered a tactical nuclear warhead sent through the Portal, leaving thousands of soldiers at risk.

  • Zhao Gang and Qian Zhenhua warned Long Zhan that the detonation could kill thousands of soldiers, including Lin Mo, but Long Zhan insisted that it was necessary to protect Blue Star.

Ch. 87Anything Could Be Sacrificed for the Greater Good

Long Zhan prepared to detonate a nuclear bomb if Wolaz reached the portal, accepting the possible deaths of his own forces to protect Blue Star. Wolaz broke through the defenses and attacked the portal guards while Kael rushed to stabilize the portal, and Great Xia forces opened fire.

  • Long Zhan told Zhao Gang and Qian Zhenhua that he was willing to sacrifice the frontline base and even his son to protect Blue Star, then raised his hand over the nuclear detonation button.
  • Wolaz advanced through the bombardment, shrugging off wounds and destroying Elder Muyu’s magical vines as Elder Muyu withdrew to replenish his magic.
  • Kael accelerated his incantation to stabilize the nearly complete portal as Wolaz charged toward it.
  • A fourth-order knight stood against Wolaz, but Wolaz shattered his shield and armor with one blow and sent him flying, gravely wounded.
  • A fourth-order mage struck Wolaz with a Holy Light Spell, and Great Xia soldiers and infantry fighting vehicles opened fire as it continued toward Kael.

Ch. 88Too strong to stop!

  • Wu Suowei relayed General Long's order for Lin Mo to fall back from the front line, and Lin Mo followed him behind the elven mages' defensive line.
  • Wu Suowei told Lin Mo to dig a fighting position, leaving Lin Mo stunned by the order.

Ch. 90The Demon Clan Army Retreated

Lin Mo learned that the Demon Clan army had retreated, but Wu Suowei warned him that something had happened at the Portal. He rushed there and found the area devastated by a nuclear attack, with soldiers dead and wounded, and demanded that Long Zhan explain what had happened.

  • Lin Mo had an Earth Elf rapidly dig a large trench for the soldiers and Elves to shelter in.
  • The front lines announced that the Demon Clan army was retreating, but Wu Suowei told Lin Mo that something had happened at the Portal and that nuclear weapons had been used.

Ch. 91What war had no deaths?

Lin Mo learned that a Demon Clan commander had been stopped at the Portal at the cost of many soldiers and machines, and struggled to accept the losses as Long Zhan ordered honors and compensation for the dead. At the front, the Demon Clan army retreated, and the battered allied forces celebrated their victory while Elder Muyu and General Adrian began assessing the aftermath.

  • Zhao Gang told Lin Mo that a powerful Demon Clan creature had breached the defenses and attacked the Portal, and that suicide attacks had bought High Archbishop Kael time to stop it.
  • Lin Mo challenged Long Zhan over the lack of warning and contingency measures, but Long Zhan said the Portal had been saved and the Demon Clan army had retreated.
  • A communications soldier reported 123 dead, 54 severely wounded, 112 lightly wounded, and extensive losses of vehicles and combat machines.
  • Long Zhan ordered three times the highest death benefit for each fallen soldier's family and posthumous first-class merit medals for the dead.
  • Elder Muyu saw the Demon Clan army retreat and realized the allied forces had won; the surviving Elves cheered as General Adrian reported that the battlefield was already being cleared and losses tallied.
  • Three wounded Dragons descended from the sky.

Ch. 92Postwar arrangements

  • Kael told Lin Mo that the Portal had entered its ten-day period of use and that his delegation would remain to supervise it.
  • Elder Muyu thanked Kael’s people for their aid, and Kael asked him to appoint Elven representatives to join the supervisory delegation.

Ch. 93Great Xia stepped in-go, go, go!

Lin Mo returned through the Portal to Blue Star’s underground base as Great Xia rushed equipment and supplies into the Terra Continent. The chapter ended with Qian Zhenhua hurrying out to study living natives after Lin Mo authorized research into whether they could eat Great Xia’s food.

  • Kael reminded Lin Mo that the Inspection Corps could inspect Great Xia’s weapons, equipment, and facilities, and Lin Mo agreed to cooperate.
  • Lin Mo told Long Zhan to prepare defenses against a possible Demon Clan return, then learned the base’s Portal passage was isolated from Blue Star and protected at its edges.
  • Long Zhan explained that Great Xia was transporting core defenses during the first five days and supplies during the remaining five, while Zhao Gang said a Long March 11 rocket could pass through the Portal.
  • Lin Mo entered the underground base and saw Great Xia’s equipment and supplies being moved through the Portal in an organized operation.
  • Liu Chengen described the extraordinary cellular activity of a suspected Demon Clan commander, and Lin Mo instructed the researchers to test whether the natives could eat Great Xia’s food.
  • Qian Zhenhua took his toolkit and rushed out to study living natives, while Long Zhan allowed the researchers to follow Lin Mo’s instructions.

Ch. 94The High Archbishop Got Electrocuted

Lin Mo mourned the fallen soldiers, proposed burying them on the Terra Continent, visited the wounded, and attended Great Xia’s first flag-raising ceremony there. As he returned to inspect the soldiers’ work, Wu Suowei reported that the High Archbishop had been electrocuted.

  • Lin Mo proposed burying the fallen soldiers on the Terra Continent, and Long Zhan agreed.

  • Kael ordered a Holy Knight to report events to the Pope while Elder Muyu stayed behind to supervise.
  • Elder Muyu watched Great Xia’s flag-raising ceremony and asked Kael why he was not returning to guard the Holy City.

Ch. 95Good heavens! This is the power of lightning

Kael and Elder Muyu explored Great Xia’s equipment, marveling at machines that worked without magic and discovering that its cables carried lightning. Kael tested an electrical socket with his pendant, was shocked, and the Great Xia soldiers rushed to report the incident as a possible diplomatic crisis.

  • Kael and Elder Muyu examined Great Xia’s weapons and equipment while the soldiers struggled to understand their questions.
  • Kael determined that a forklift had no magic core, circuits, or runes, and Elder Muyu was stopped from approaching it while it was operating.
  • Kael sensed lightning-like power in the cables powering the lighting stands, and Elder Muyu confirmed that it resembled the force of a thunderstorm.
  • Kael traced the cables to a socket, plugged in a loose cable, and inserted his metal pendant into the socket.
  • Kael was shocked and thrown back, and the nearby Great Xia soldiers hurried to report the incident to their superiors.

Ch. 96Wait, you're addicted to getting electrocuted now?

Lin Mo let High Archbishop Kael and Elder Muyu experiment with three-phase electricity after they survived being shocked and asked to study its power. When Academician Qian Zhenhua saw the pair, he eagerly volunteered to help them research lightning magic.

  • Lin Mo arrived and learned that Kael and Elder Muyu had been studying a socket and were electrocuted, but remained unharmed.
  • Kael asked Lin Mo to teach him how to produce electricity, and Lin Mo agreed to learn magic from him in return.
  • Kael and Elder Muyu asked to experience electricity again, hoping to develop lightning magic to fight the Demon Clan.
  • Lin Mo had a dedicated cable installed, and Kael and Elder Muyu took turns touching it while their guards watched.
  • Qian Zhenhua rushed to stop the pair, learned they were unharmed, and asked Lin Mo to interpret so he could join their research.

Ch. 97This Was Criminally Good!

Lin Mo introduced Academician Qian Zhenhua to Kael and Elder Muyu, who eagerly let him study how electricity affected them. While the three bonded over their different pursuits, Academician Liu Chengen arrived and became captivated by the griffins and pegasi.

  • Lin Mo introduced Qian Zhenhua as an expert in electricity and warned him to treat Kael and Elder Muyu carefully.
  • Qian measured Kael’s response to electric shocks, and Kael described how the current interacted with his Holy Light power and magic power circuit.
  • Qian connected live and neutral wires with copper clamps, then had Kael and Elder Muyu pass electricity between their hands as he tested different conditions and recorded data.
  • Kael and Elder Muyu continued cooperating after healing themselves, while Lin Mo interpreted and the three men formed a friendship.
  • Liu Chengen arrived with biological samples, spotted the Divine Holy Knights’ pegasi and griffins, and quietly approached a griffin to study it.

Ch. 98Got to Taste How Salty It Is!

Liu Chengen nearly tasted a Griffin’s urine for research before Lin Mo stopped him, while the army’s temporary base rapidly took shape. After documenting their lightning experiments, Kael and Elder Muyu watched the soldiers eat red-braised pork and rice, their stomachs rumbling.

  • Liu Chengen approached the Griffin to study its urine, but Lin Mo stopped him and threatened to send him back if he acted recklessly.
  • Lin Mo inspected the fast-moving construction of the temporary base and felt reassured by its progress.
  • Kael, Elder Muyu, and Qian Zhenhua recorded their observations from the lightning experiments, and Qian gave Muyu a ballpoint pen.
  • Kael and Elder Muyu smelled the soldiers’ red-braised pork and rice and heard their stomachs rumble.

Ch. 99The unreliable academicians from both academies

Qian Zhenhua and Liu Chengen persuaded Kael and the other visitors to sample Great Xia food, then arranged a feast for the Holy Human Race and the vegetarian Elves. The chapter ended with the visitors awkwardly lining up for heaping trays of food alongside the soldiers.

  • Qian Zhenhua forced himself to eat Kael's Holy Wheat bread and Oat Ale, then proposed testing Great Xia food on the visitors.
  • Liu Chengen abandoned his attempt to collect Griffin feathers and joined Qian Zhenhua in inviting Kael and the others to the cooking squad.
  • Qian Zhenhua learned that Elder Muyu and the other Elves were vegetarian, so he asked the squad to prepare separate vegetarian dishes and requested alcohol.
  • The cooking squad prepared six meat dishes, six vegetable dishes, soup, fried noodles, and rice, filling the camp with enticing aromas.
  • Qian Zhenhua declined to fetch tables and chairs, and Kael, Elder Muyu, the knights, and the Elves lined up with stainless steel trays for food.

Ch. 100Plans for the Next Objectives

Kael and Elder Muyu shared beer and fried noodles with the human soldiers, leading to an embarrassing mishap. Meanwhile, Lin Mo and his staff planned the campaign to recapture Emerald Leaf City while avoiding damage to the Elves’ World Tree, and agreed to seek high-tier allies, develop weapons, and study magic.

  • Qian Zhenhua served beer to Kael, Elder Muyu, and the others, and Kael and Muyu choked when they drank it for the first time.
  • Elder Muyu spat out his noodles with one dangling from his nostril, and Kael accidentally sprayed beer across his face while trying to hold back laughter.
  • An operational staff officer reported that the Demon Clan army had retreated to a World Tree near Emerald Leaf City, and proposed striking it with thermobaric weapons.
  • Lin Mo rejected a destructive strike because the Elves wanted Emerald Leaf City and its World Tree reclaimed intact.
  • Long Zhan proposed hiring high-tier fighters, developing weapons, and studying magic, while Lin Mo said Kael had agreed to teach him and that he would ask the Elves for language books.
