Power Progression

The documented progression concerns the race’s growth mechanisms rather than a single demon’s leveling history.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Wartime growth and expansion of high-tier forces 520 Initially relied mainly on numbers and had fewer powerhouses than the Holy Light Continent. Devouring humans during successive battles steadily increased their strength and produced more powerhouses.
Divine Emperor / God Emperor Realm 620 Breaking the Transcendent God-tier shackles has an extremely low success rate. Only demons that have fought their way upward from the bottom have even a small chance of succeeding.
Continued growth after Divine Emperor 620 Successful demons return to the Demon Source Continent, where special methods allow further growth despite the scarcity of suitable human prey. They also provide energy to heal the Source Ancestor.

Appearance

  • True form: Grayish-brown, approximately three meters tall, with two legs, enormous hands, and a triangular head 513.
  • Mouth: Opens like flower petals and is large enough to swallow a person whole 513.
  • Bone spikes: Long, sharp projections extend from the knees, elbows, and back; demons use their joint spikes in close combat 513 518.
  • Winged forms: Airborne demons resemble the ground-based creatures but possess an additional pair of wings 513.
  • Human form: God-tier demons can appear humanoid and revert to their monstrous true forms 515 518.

Origins and Biology

Otherworldly Demons emerge from the Demon Source Sea, a black ocean on their ancestral continent. They require no mating, allowing new demons to appear rapidly and in enormous numbers. Once the continent’s lowliest creatures, they gradually became its rulers before extending their attacks to other worlds 622.

Their invasions are primarily a means of gaining strength, not merely acquiring territory. Invading forces may initially be comparable to—or weaker than—the inhabitants of a targeted continent. By devouring opponents, they grow until they can overwhelm the population and enslave the survivors 620.

  • Low-ranking intelligence: Primarily concerned with devouring things and becoming stronger 513.
  • High-ranking intelligence: No lower than that of humans; capable of planning sieges, coordinating reinforcements, and organizing diversions 513 623.
  • Human livestock: On one conquered continent, demons raise humans as food rather than killing the entire population immediately 617.
  • Restricted prey for advancement: Demons must devour humans of their own realm or higher to strengthen themselves, making ordinary invasion targets insufficient after reaching Divine Emperor 620.

Abilities & Skills

Devour

Their innate talent converts suitable human prey into additional attributes 515.

  • The inspected God-tier demon gains 5% of a human victim’s attributes when devouring someone of the same realm or higher 515.
  • On the Taotie City battlefield, demons swallow slain opponents whole and visibly become stronger 514.
  • Repeated feeding makes prolonged warfare increasingly favorable to the demons 520.
  • Humans on the Crimson Flame Continent set themselves ablaze when defeat becomes inevitable, denying the demons even a corpse and sharply reducing their gains 618.

Spatial Manipulation

The Otherworldly Demons encountered in first-tier main cities use the Space Element, making them difficult to hit and dangerous to approach 561.

  • Spatial attacks: Strike through rifts and tear apart surrounding space; bone spikes can emerge from openings directly in front of an opponent 515 537.
  • Teleportation awareness: The God-tier demons fighting Wu Shaozhen can sense where he will materialize, preparing attacks even inside his Spacetime Domain 515.
  • Spatial Lockdown: Seals an area to prevent escape through spatial movement 523.
  • Void movement: Skills such as Enter the Void allow demons to evade incoming attacks, though the ability can be unavailable after earlier use 522.
  • Dimensional isolation: A demon separates Wu Ziyin and Guardian from their allies inside a special space. Fangdang Buji enters it, after which it collapses 597.
  • Limit: Sealing their Spatial Skills greatly reduces their combat strength, as demonstrated by Wu Shaozhen’s duel with a Transcendent God-tier demon 586.

Nine Absolute Space Slashes

A signature technique that delivers nine attacks instantly 556.

  • Starts at 300% damage, with each successive strike dealing 20% more damage than the previous attack.
  • The skill-book version has a three-minute cooldown and can be learned by warriors and assassins.
  • Wu Shaozhen learns the technique himself 556.

Heaven Devourer

Produces a powerful devouring force through the demon’s enlarged mouth 518.

  • Used by a Transcendent God-tier demon against the Ice and Snow Empress.
  • Swallowing her ice pillars accelerates the freezing of its body, forcing it to close its mouth 518.

Physical Combat and Attribute Steal

Their bodies function as weapons, giving them an advantage over ordinary humans at the same level 514.

  • Use joint-mounted bone spikes alongside conventional weapons, including axes and other large melee weapons 513 518 537.
  • God-tier demons possess Attribute Steal, which complicates Wu Shaozhen’s battle against them 515.
  • Other recorded skills include Blood Drink, Space-Rending Strike, Void Strike, Void-Splitting Strike, Void Escape, and Spatial Reversal 515.

Inspected God-tier Example

These attributes belong to an inspected enemy near the pinnacle of God tier, not to every member of the race 515.

Equipment and Infrastructure

  • Spatial Treasure — Seals space throughout a besieged main city, blocking both human evacuation and incoming teleportation-based reinforcements 513.
  • Demon Realm Space — A spatial transit hub connecting multiple continents through Vortex Gates 605.
  • Void equipment — Assassin-oriented equipment whose combined abilities can reproduce almost all of the demons’ abilities. Wu Shaozhen collects these pieces to counter them 594.
  • Hundred Battles City — The Witch Venerable’s residence and the demons’ central main city on the Holy Light Continent. Its back mountain contains an Otherworldly Demon Passage 552 604.
  • Sealed ancestral passage — The route to the Demon Source Continent is sealed before Wu Shaozhen’s expedition; he opens it with the Void-Piercing Thorn 622.

History

War on the Holy Light Continent

Years of fighting progressively weakened humanity while strengthening the demons through their Devour talent. Outside the main cities, roaming demons hunted humans so extensively that travelers generally needed at least a Saint-tier protector—and even that did not guarantee survival 520 521.

At Taotie City, the demons’ spatial blockade forced relief forces to travel overland and by flight. Wu Shaozhen, Zi You, and the Ice and Snow Empress helped turn the siege into a crushing defeat: fewer than a tenth of the attacking demons escaped, and the enemy’s Transcendent God-tier fighter was frozen for Wu Shaozhen to finish 513 518.

Wu Shaozhen and Old Teng then repeatedly raided Ten Thousand Beasts City, killing its defenders and escaping when stronger forces approached. Their attacks, and the near-death of Hǔ Bēn, placed Wu Shaozhen’s group on the race’s must-kill list. The eventual destruction of the city encouraged wider human counterattacks 526 536 551 552.

Reinforcements and Continental Conquest

The demons regained the initiative through hidden God-tier forces and later reinforcements summoned from other planes by the Witch Venerable. These reinforcements reversed a human campaign that had reclaimed half of the occupied main cities 565 584.

After three months, the demons held every major city on the Holy Light Continent. Vermilion Bird City was the first human core city breached. Despite their territorial victory, they could not eliminate Wu Shaozhen’s increasingly powerful raiding group 593.

Wu Shaozhen eventually killed the Witch Venerable and ten of the sixteen supreme powerhouses involved in the confrontation, then led the reclamation of Azure Dragon City. After more than half a year of subsequent hunting, Otherworldly Demons were almost nowhere to be seen on the continent 602 604.

Campaign Across Other Continents

Following the demons’ passage network, Wu Shaozhen’s group reached the Divine Wood Continent, where all pure humans had been devoured. Human-elf descendants survived inside the Tree of Life’s independent space, which the demons had never managed to breach 605 606.

The group sealed the local passage and killed every Immortal-tier or stronger demon on the continent, leaving weaker survivors for the elves. They repeated this strategy elsewhere, including a continent where humans were being raised as livestock. The slaughter drew powerful demons out of their ancestral lair 617.

Attack on the Demon Source Continent

After another half year of hunting, Wu Shaozhen’s party entered the Demon Source Continent and learned that the Source Ancestor was at a critical stage of recovery. As they advanced toward the heartland, the demon leaders launched a diversionary invasion of the Holy Light Continent to draw them away. Feng Yan and the Adventurers chose to defend without interrupting the expedition 622 623.

Poisoned Birthplace and Surviving Demons

Wu Shaozhen later returned in the Ancestral Realm and poisoned the Demon Source Sea to prevent the race from causing another disaster. His companions hunted demons across the ancestral continent, but its size prevented them from clearing every survivor 641.

The remaining invasion on the Holy Light Continent ended when Wu Shaozhen and the returning Divine Emperors drove the demons into a sealed mystic realm in the Far Northern Lands. Wu Shaozhen separated them by realm and established the Trial Grounds, allowing Adventurers to enter and hunt them 642.

Relationships

  • Source Ancestor — Central ancestral figure whose recovery is supported by energy from returning Divine Emperors; demon leaders launch a diversionary invasion to buy him time 620 623.
  • Witch Venerable — Major commander based in Hundred Battles City; summons reinforcements from other planes and personally targets Wu Shaozhen’s group 552 584.
  • Hǔ Bēn — Powerhouse associated with Ten Thousand Beasts City and initially described as one of the race’s three strongest fighters 525 528.
  • Wu Shaozhen / Dustseal / Poison Venerable — Priority enemy whose poison, raids, and eventual attack on their birthplace dismantle the demons’ military advantage 536 584 641.
  • Human Race — Principal prey and enemy; humans are devoured for strength, hunted after fleeing cities, or kept as livestock 515 593 617.
  • Demon Race — A separate race, not another name for Otherworldly Demons. Zi You and Demon Race powerhouses fight alongside humanity against them 520 573 604.
  • Elf Race — Enemies on the Divine Wood Continent; protected from annihilation by the Tree of Life’s independent space 606.

Gameplay Mechanics

  • Attribute gains: In the first-tier setting described after Taotie City, slain demons drop no equipment and their energy is absorbed directly, providing substantial base-stat increases 519.
  • Regional rules: In second-tier main cities, much of a slain enemy’s energy becomes equipment instead. Captured demons killed there still provide attribute gains and can drop Divine Artifacts 519 568.
  • Adventurer training: Human powerhouses deliberately weaken demons for Adventurers to finish, accelerating their growth 551 573.
  • Trial Grounds: Surviving demons become dungeon targets, separated by realm and accessed through Mystic Realm Tokens 642.
