Background / History

Aier works for the Chu family because Chu Lian once did her a kindness. She declines to explain the details, saying only that she is helping look after his family in return. Chu Lian also provided her with a monster to protect Chu Xin 2 36.

Although employed as a maid, Aier is an experienced Monster Handler who has successfully raised a mature Garchomp. Her license allows her to bring Garchomp along when accompanying Chu Xin outside the villa. Chu Xin considers her part of the family and wonders why someone he believes could compete for a Gym Leader position chose domestic service instead 13 36.

Helping Chu Xin Raise Dratini

Aier places Chu Xin’s first Monster Egg in the villa’s incubator and informs him when it is ready to hatch. During Dratini’s hatching and capture, she keeps Garchomp’s Poké Ball ready, fearing that even a newborn monster might injure him 3 4.

She supports Dratini’s upbringing by preparing nutritious meals, identifying the flaws in Chu Xin’s homemade Pokéblocks, and explaining that his father owns the world’s largest Pokéblock manufacturing company. Her guidance also helps Chu Xin recognize the gap between knowing about Pokémon and actually raising one 5 6 13.

When Xiao Wu struggles to control Extreme Speed, Aier identifies an unusual energy within his body that interferes with move control. She gives him an Everstone necklace to suppress it, allowing his training to continue more smoothly 12 13.

The Dragonite Scale Incident

During training with Dragonite’s reverse scale, Aier sends Garchomp to suppress the escaping energy and remove the scale. Both attempts fail, and she physically restrains Chu Xin from entering the dangerous area. A Paralysis Needle strikes her neck, allowing him to break free and rush toward Xiao Wu 19.

After recovering, Aier summons Chansey to treat the unconscious pair and confronts Chen Huan, who admits responsibility. Her Garchomp is defeated by his Vespiquen, leaving her unable to force him out. Chen Huan explains that the scale came from a Dynamax Dragonite and claims he gave Chu Xin the wrong one. Aier orders him to take it away and refuses to let Chu Xin touch something so dangerous 20.

Despite her objections, she accompanies Chu Xin back to Jindu Gym when he seeks answers and a way for Xiao Wu to control Dynamax Energy 21 22.

License Tournament Support

Aier accompanies Chu Xin to his father’s company and eventually reveals that Chu Lian opposes his becoming a Monster Handler. She tells Chu Xin that his future is his own decision, although she privately doubts that his current talent is enough to make him Donghuang’s Champion 24.

During the qualification tournament, she records Chu Xin’s battles for his father, explains academy admission and resource allocation, and gathers information on upcoming opponents. She later records an entire day’s matches for Chu Xin to study, leaving her arms numb from holding the camera 30 32 35.

Before the final against Bai Le, Aier reassures Chu Xin that he has already done wonderfully and reminds him that his original aim was to defeat Growlithe. After he wins the championship, she joins him and Farfetch’d at the rescue center 40 42.

Battles with Chu Xin’s Pokémon

Aier’s recently caught Squirtle loses a practice battle to Xiao Wu and later loses to Farfetch’d. The second defeat prompts her to intensify Squirtle’s training. When Chu Xin secretly watches that training, she has Garchomp flush him out of hiding and reprimands him for spying 22 23 44 45.

She agrees to a rematch between Squirtle and Farfetch’d, now named Kaka. Neither trainer gives commands during the fight; Squirtle avoids close combat, exhausts Kaka with Bubble, and finishes him with Water Pulse 45 46.

Personality

Aier is protective, practical, and frequently exasperated by Chu Xin’s antics. She initially shares her world’s belief that monsters are dangerous and should normally be released only for battle. Nevertheless, she humors Chu Xin’s insistence on calling them “Pokémon” and feels happy when he successfully catches Dratini 3 4.

Her caution does not make her indiscriminately overprotective. When an angry Xiao Wu chases Chu Xin with Dragon Rage, she notices that the attacks deliberately miss him and calmly watches rather than intervening. She also recognizes how quickly their bond has developed 7.

Aier praises good battle command but expects serious effort. She becomes angry when Chu Xin treats her tournament advice lightly and threatens to teach him a lesson if he fails to achieve a good ranking after all her recording work. She is also competitive: Squirtle’s loss to Farfetch’d frustrates her, and her satisfaction shows when he wins the rematch 23 30 35 45 46.
