Arc 4The Black Man’s Mark
Harry returned to the Wizarding World, uncovered Dobby’s interference, and began the new school year amid a failed Platform Nine and Three-Quarters crossing. As he investigated Lockhart, the markings on Harry’s hand absorbed his Invisibility Cloak, and he found a letter suggesting Lockhart still sought to make a Philosopher’s Stone.
- Harry planned to use Muggle machinery to mass-produce magical goods with Fred and George, but they lacked the money and magical expertise to keep it running.
- After Harry collapsed while using Magic Perception on the Black Man, the Black Man entered his mental world, examined the Little Monster, and lifted Harry’s Soul Projection as he lost control of his body.
- Harry learned that Dobby had intercepted his letters and was trying to stop him returning to Hogwarts, then left Privet Drive for the Burrow.
- Harry saw Lucius and Draco Malfoy at Borgin and Burkes, where Lucius sold suspicious items, and told the Weasleys what he had witnessed.
- When Harry and Ron could not enter Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, they flew the Weasley car to Hogwarts, while the failed barrier trapped more than two hundred adult wizards.
- At Hogwarts, Harry attended classes with his friends and watched Lockhart release Cornish Pixies, which attacked the class before Harry struck one with a book.
- Harry’s left-hand markings absorbed his Invisibility Cloak, leaving him able to turn invisible without it, and he followed Lockhart into his office.
- Harry found a letter in which Lockhart said he had not abandoned alchemy and might soon create his own Philosopher’s Stone.
