Nothing else happened to Joey over the next day.
The information Kite brought back from the black market made it clear to Joey that someone had indeed put a bounty on him. But the bounty was not for killing him-it was for capturing him alive.
If that condition could be met, the other party was willing to pay one hundred million Jenny.
One hundred million Jenny was no small sum. After all, Joey was hardly anyone important. At least for now, he was an ordinary person who had just resigned from his temporary job at the Hunter Association.
A hundred-million-Jenny bounty on someone like that was an acceptable proposition to most assassins.
As for Joey's identity as the Murderer and such, none of that had been made public.
Perhaps the information that made Joey worth that price was that he was one of the Extermination Team members who had left East Gorteau.
In other words, he had participated in the operation to eliminate the Chimera Ants.
Perhaps the rookie assassins who did not know the reason behind it and eagerly attacked Joey as soon as they accepted the job had taken him for an ordinary person.
But that explanation did not apply at all to the man from yesterday.
The report on that man had already come out. He had died thirty minutes before he was discovered.
That meant he had already been a corpse when he delivered the food.
The person who determined the precise time was Sambika.
An ordinary forensic examiner would have struggled to pinpoint the time, since the actual time of death and the time he took the poison were almost identical.
Had he come for that hundred million Jenny?
Joey did not quite believe it.
