Background / History

Roy is a transmigrator who chose the Overlord world through the Dimensional Gate. He selected reincarnation in 2108, eighteen years before Yggdrasil’s release, intending to exploit the game’s eventual shutdown and carry its powers into the New World. His chosen background made him the favored eighth son of the Higuma Family, with ordinary aptitude but access to substantial wealth 1.

He declined heir status in a family where succession disputes had already killed three brothers. His non-heir allocation included one billion dollars in capital and ten million dollars in monthly living expenses; cautious investments increased his assets to ten billion dollars. His father also secretly gave him three percent of the World Seed Bank, drawing the attention of his eldest brother Arthur 1.

Arthur offered a Dome City and Robot Legion in exchange for the shares. Roy requested a month to investigate the other heirs, although Yggdrasil would shut down in seven days. He intended to reject the offer and arranged for his inheritance to pass to a charity connected to the Resistance if he died, preventing Arthur from receiving it 1.

Appearance

  • Original body: Plain-looking, with ordinary health 1 37.
  • New World appearance: An exceptionally handsome black-haired youth, based on a meticulously refined game avatar 37 38 70.
  • Game disguise: Uses the Mask of Thousand Faces to appear as a silver-haired nobleman, preventing Ainz from recognizing his actual appearance 65.
  • Buddha manifestation: Radiates dazzling golden light that inspires reverence 61.

Personality

Roy’s apparent idleness conceals extreme patience. He spends thirty years preparing for his crossover, rejects dangerous temptations, and accepts isolation rather than jeopardize his goal. His willingness to endure an unremarkable life rests on the prospect of an Immortal’s vastly longer future 21.

He favors mechanics over raw stats. Rare species, unusual classes, and spells interest him because of their possibilities beyond Yggdrasil. He deliberately avoids changing the game’s fundamental rules, fearing that excessive customization could prevent his powers from transferring successfully 2 3 4 18.

Roy is pragmatic about his weaknesses. He wants useful intellectual support rather than constant praise, accepts instruction from his subordinates, and trains without concern for looking undignified. He also recognizes when he has become too dependent on Eve’s strategic thinking 16 20 26 35.

His protection of humanity has a strongly possessive, utilitarian motive. He values humans as a gene pool and source of innate talents, even regarding talent-bearing people as his private property. He seeks to prevent mass extermination while freely employing deception, memory alteration, coercion, and enslavement to obtain power and control 13 26 28 38 60 62.

Abilities & Skills

Initial Class Build

Roy’s original human avatar has no racial levels; its ten classes total level 100 2.

Class Level Principal purpose

Gold Ruler / Gold Dominator LV10 Gold manipulation 2 21
World Merchant LV5 Contract-based exchanges 2 37
World’s Richest Man LV5 Silver Bullets of Allure 2

Immortal LV5 Vitality, defense, and resistances 2

Silver Bullets of Allure

A World’s Richest Man skill that converts gold into a wide-area barrage of golden projectiles 2 8.

  • At its maximum cost of one billion gold coins, its power matches the game’s strongest Super-Tier Magic 2.
  • Normally usable ten times daily, without consuming MP 2.
  • Temporary restrictions were lifted during his Valkyrie encounter, allowing one hundred uses; this was not his normal limit 8.
  • In reality, skilled opponents can evade much of the barrage rather than suffer the game’s fixed damage. The expended golden bullets can also be recovered 19.
  • Uses Maximize Skill Power to enhance the attack during the assault on the Platinum Dragon Lord 75.

World Merchant and the God of Contracts

Roy uses magically enforced agreements to exchange goods and transfer innate talents 5 37 50 51.

  • Enforces purchases of guilds’ paid NPC-point upgrades 5.
  • Uses the Fairness Seal to establish the trade for Eirin’s Spirit Appraisal Eye 37.
  • Transfers Draudillon’s Wild Magic to Shallan, then acquires it himself through a subsequent exchange 50 51.
  • Establishes a binding agreement with Draudillon when she becomes his concubine 52.

Recorded Magic

Record Magic preserves spells Roy has witnessed, including magic from different categories 20.

  • A dedicated spellbook can hold one thousand spells 20.
  • Normally, recorded spells lose 50% of their power and 30% of their duration while costing more mana; some lose as much as 80% of their power 20.
  • The Incredible Notebook restores recorded spells to their original power, with further enhancement possible through cash-shop items 20.
  • Retrieving the notebook and locating a spell creates a practical casting delay that Roy must train to overcome 20.

Equipment Versatility and Gold Manipulation

Armed Merchant lets Roy equip the vast majority of equipment and receive its bonuses. Item Affinity later removes restrictions based on race, class, level, or identity 21 40.

  • Item Affinity does not negate an item’s cost or harmful consequences 40.
  • Successfully activates a sixth-tier Greater Heal scroll that his original class configuration could not use 40.
  • Gold Dominator controls gold for attacks, including the Mysterious Gold Ball 21.
  • Trains with Liquid Armament to protect vulnerable areas, mislead opponents, and attack through concealed gold 21.

Space, Fate, Time, and Concealment

Roy combines utility classes with customized divine equipment 2 3 21.

  • Space Traveler: Resists spatial restraints such as Dimensional Lock and Delayed Teleportation, traverses most restricted areas, and accelerates teleportation and Gates 2.
  • Incredible Armor synergy: Enables instantaneous activation of spatial magic in the New World 3.
  • Fate Aria Singer: Grants song-based buffs such as Super Luck and Fortune’s Favor; Roy boosts Eve’s luck when she attempts to acquire Spirit Appraisal Eye 2 38.
  • Time Observer: Originally predicts likely actions using game AI and player data; Roy later includes it in his real-world training 2 21.
  • Observer: Diminishes his presence and reduces enemy targeting accuracy. The Mysterious Battle Cloak strengthens this concealment 21.

Innate Talent Acquisition

Roy combines Spirit Appraisal Eye, Wish Upon a Star, and contracts to identify and acquire valuable talents 37 38 40 41.

  • Spirit Appraisal Eye: Reveals whether living beings possess innate talents, their ranks and effects, and the body’s capacity to accommodate them 38.
  • Wish Upon a Star: Restores Eirin’s talent, grants appraisal talents to Veronica and Eve, and copies talents from Nfirea and Brain 38 40 56.
  • Genius talents: Improve his intellectual and physical aptitude; Brain’s talent rapidly enhances his coordination 41 56.
  • Limit: Wish Upon a Star cannot directly copy Renner’s exceptionally high-ranked genius class, requiring Wild Wish and the Debt-Collecting Demon instead 60.

Wild Magic

Wild Magic allows imagined effects to bypass the world’s normal rules at a cost in souls. Roy seeks it to investigate the Sea of Possibility 49 51.

  • His world-class classes protect him from the usual interference between Wild Magic and Tier Magic 50.
  • Lacks both World Connector and World Deceiver, preventing him from directly accessing the source as Shallan can 51.
  • Learns to cast Wild Wish through the Philosopher’s Stone and uses it to obtain Renner’s genius class 60.
  • Its major applications can consume enormous quantities of soul energy 60.

Immortal and Buddha Classes

Immortal supplies the durability his original utility-heavy build lacks; Buddha later resolves his broader stat deficiencies 2 61.

  • Immortal: Greatly raises vitality and defense, maximizes resistances, and supports prolonged training without ordinary fatigue 2 20.
  • Initial limitation: Despite Immortal, his original stats remain upper-middle tier and inferior to a specialized top combat player’s 2.
  • Monk progression: Adds healing, melee combat, and bonus damage against undead 61.
  • Buddha: Supplies exceptional stats and bonus damage against dragons, but not the boundless powers attributed to Buddha in religious tales 61.
  • Oathbreaking Monk · Desire: Increases magic attack while increasing damage received from certain female units. Its interaction with Buddha’s Purity produces selective Purity 62.
  • Bodhi Tree protection: Its world-level status defeats detection methods associated with Roy’s duplicate-based operations 65.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • World Crown — Establishes Roy’s dominion within World City and increases NPC-point capacity. NPCs without World Item protection cannot attack him there and submit to his commands 4.
  • World Tree Sapling — Planted in World City; can develop into a true World Tree. Roy preserves it rather than spend its power on Rollback 11.
  • Buddha’s Bodhi Tree — Grants access to the Buddha class and later merges into his body 11 61 62.
  • Shooting Star Rings — Provide Wish Upon a Star for talent restoration, copying, and enhancement 38 40 41 50.
  • Incredible Notebook — Restores the effectiveness of his recorded spells 20.
  • Incredible Armor — Combines with Space Traveler to enable instantaneous spatial magic 3.

  • All-Seeing Eye and Laplace’s Demon — World Items used for surveillance and intelligence gathering, frequently entrusted to Eve 17 18 23 33.

  • Trojan Horse — Transports his assault force toward the suspected Platinum Dragon Lord stronghold 74.
  • Information Crystals — Preserve human scientific knowledge; selected elementary material is given to the future Six Great Gods 7 13.
  • Eye of Cthulhu — Sealed away because its real-world potential for corruption makes it too dangerous to use casually 14.

Relationships

  • Arthur — Eldest brother and succession rival. Arthur seeks Roy’s World Seed Bank shares; Roy delays him and arranges his estate to deny him any inheritance 1 14.
  • Eve Aurora Cole — Prime minister and trusted intellectual partner. Roy brings her full AI into the crossover and relies on her administration, surveillance, and planning 16 17 26.
  • Veronica — Personal maid and Scarlet Attendant, whom Roy calls “Nika.” Handles his daily care, trains servants, and carries out recruitment and memory manipulation 19 21 23 38 60.
  • Kagura Inori — Arena guardian and combat instructor. Helps him master his abilities through controlled sparring and increasingly demanding practice 19 20 21.

  • Brain — Source of warrior genius and a political asset. Roy assigns Zoro to train him while ordering him to retain his position under Rambasa III 56.
  • Renner — Source of Roy’s genius class; later enslaved as his Believer and sent back to transform the Re-Estize Kingdom 60 62.
  • Ainz Ooal Gown / Bone King — Rival ruler and target of manipulation. Roy redirects Nazarick toward dragons, captures several of its NPCs, and later coordinates a staged public performance with it 26 28 46 70.
  • Zanac — Roy’s preferred candidate for reforming the Re-Estize Kingdom; publicly supports the Dragon Slaying Cult’s World Government proposal 56 70.

Preparing the Crossover

  • Uses enormous spending to obtain a dedicated development team while publicly cultivating the image of a player who pays rather than plays 2.

  • Collects one hundred World Items before shutdown and rents Eve’s full AI for twenty million dollars during the final ten minutes 14 16.

Re-Estize Reform and the World Government

  • Chooses Zanac over Renner as the public vehicle for reform, then obtains Renner’s genius class and turns her into a controlled agent 56 60 62.
