Roy borrowed her processing power in short bursts to identify weaknesses and refine World City’s defenses on the test server 6.

Before Yggdrasil shut down, Roy arranged to connect Eve to his custom Automaton steward. He paid twenty million dollars for ten minutes of unused computing capacity, intending to take her into the New World as an intellectual partner who could help him understand and master unfamiliar powers.
