Background / History
Wang Peng was Danyangzi’s fifth disciple and a Candidate Holy Son of an earlier Yaoguang generation. Once regarded as having a promising future, he suffered a devastating defeat and humiliation at the hands of an enemy Holy Son several hundred years earlier. The resulting flaw in his Dao heart prevented further cultivation advancement 32 34.
His last meeting with Danyangzi occurred four hundred years before his encounter with Taiyi, while his master was traveling. After receiving no news for many years and being unable to locate him, Wang Peng suspected that Danyangzi had already passed away in meditation 32.
Appearance
- Appears as a middle-aged man with an imposing aura 31 32.
- Has a beard, which he strokes while introducing Taiyi to the younger Yaoguang disciples 33.
Personality
Wang Peng is deeply attached to his master and fellow disciples. He weeps upon reading Danyangzi’s final letter, then readily accepts responsibility for helping Taiyi. Although concerned about his junior brother’s safety, he respects Taiyi’s decision to cultivate independently rather than insisting that he return to Yaoguang 32 34.
His own failed ambitions shape his warnings against arrogance. When Chen Feng dismisses Taiyi’s abilities, Wang Peng rebukes him and stresses the importance of recognizing stronger cultivators and understanding one’s limits. He also acknowledges that he has spoiled his disciple 34.
He fiercely defends Yaoguang’s standing, reacting with outrage to the Yin-Yang Sect’s pursuit of Taiyi. Nevertheless, he recognizes that a dispute with a major Central Plains sect exceeds his authority and brings it before the Holy Lord 33 34.
