Gu Sheng woke up in Hong Kong in 1982 as a low-paid Hongxing gang member and undercover cop, then discovered he was involved with his boss Ah Sin’s wife. When she asked him to run away with her, he found a mysterious reward wheel that cost far more than he could afford to use.
Gu Sheng accepted over two hundred thousand from Ah Sin’s wife to hire someone to kill Ah Sin, while planning to keep himself safe. He discovered that Long-Haired Kit was conspiring with the wife to kill Ah Sin and then take over, and ended the chapter preparing to draw a time bomb from the Wheel.
Gu Sheng used a system that turned draws and experience books into combat skills and improved physical stats, then armed himself and planned to kill his boss and other gang leaders. After learning that his boss was meeting Thunderclap Tiger, Lui Yiu Yeung, he took position in a building across the street and waited for them to arrive.
Gu Sheng shot Xin and one of his men, then tricked Xin’s wife into fleeing with him before killing her at the river. He stopped to rescue a woman from an assault and shot her attacker in the legs, leaving the two of them together.
Gu Sheng forced Kong Sang to shoot a smuggler, disposed of the bodies, and took her home to clean his apartment. He learned that his gang boss had been killed and returned to find his men arguing over who was responsible.
Gu Sheng stirred up Hongxing’s men by blaming Brother Sin’s murder on Thunderclap Tiger and Brother Sin’s wife, pushing them toward revenge. The bar learned that Big B would take charge of Yuen Long, while Gu Sheng waited to see what he would do.
Gu Sheng inflamed Big B’s meeting over Ah Sin’s murder by urging the Yuen Long gang to target Thunderclap Tiger, but Big B postponed action until the next day. Gu Sheng left after the meeting and headed elsewhere for the night, while Chui Gai took an interest in recruiting him.
Gu Sheng used the Wheel to improve his fighting skills, then met Officer Wei to discuss the killing of a Hongxing boss and the chance to rise in the gang. He returned home to find Kong Sang had cleaned the apartment and offered to take her out for clothes and food.
Gu Sheng cleaned Kong Sang up and considered how to raise capital, then joined Hongxing’s planned attack on Tung Sing after Big B offered him a chance to advance. The chapter ended with Gu Sheng assigned to block enemy reinforcements at a street entrance.
Gu Sheng led Hongxing men against Tung Sing’s reinforcements, using vans and sudden tricks to kill Flyboy Kun and Xu Fei. With Tung Sing scattered and the police approaching, he ordered his men to take the wounded and return.
After Hongxing’s assault on Tung Sing, Gu Sheng returned with his men and earned Big B’s promise of a promotion, while drawing Mad Dog’s resentment. On his way home, Gu Sheng changed course and entered the Grand Palace Nightclub.
Gu Sheng confirmed that Piao Piao resembled Liu Piaopiao from King of Comedy, then returned home and considered robbing Mad Dog to replenish his dwindling cash. He used his last Wheel pulls to gain Piano and Filipino Stick Fighting, leaving him stronger but still short of money.
Gu Sheng killed Piglet Ming in the escalating Yuen Long gang war, making his reputation as Quick-Blade Sheng spread further. After Officer Wei urged him to gather evidence against Big B, Gu Sheng returned home and found Kong Sang cooking in his apartment.
Kong Sang returned to Gu Sheng’s apartment after finding nowhere else to stay, and the two grew more comfortable with each other despite their awkward relationship. After Big-Eyed Hua reported that Mad Dog had been hospitalized following an attack by Tung Sing’s men, Gu Sheng went out with his underlings and discovered that the world’s famous singer Ding Dang looked like Deng X-jun.
Gu Sheng joined Big B’s temporary truce with Tung Sing and learned he would be promoted alongside Chan Ho-nam. He and Kong Sang moved from their cramped room into a spacious furnished flat, though he still called her a “fuck buddy.”
Gu Sheng and Chan Ho-nam completed their initiation and became 426 Red Poles, but Gu Sheng resented receiving Long Ping Estate while Chan Ho-nam got a more profitable street. Gu Sheng began planning a real estate agency in Yuen Long as Big B prepared a task for Chan Ho-nam.
Gu Sheng opened Golden Harvest Properties in Yuen Long New Town, turning his gang members toward legitimate work and finding strong demand for the new rental agency. After watching the first customers arrive, he asked about Mad Dog and planned to visit him, while considering the many expenses he still faced.
Kong Sang told Gu Sheng that their rental business had closed more than twenty deals, while Gu Sheng later visited Mad Dog and killed him after Mad Dog insulted and threatened him. With Mad Dog dead, Gu Sheng absorbed a nearby street and expanded his income.
Gu Sheng expanded Golden Harvest Properties by buying vehicles and using them to promote the company across Yuen Long. He then inspected a bathhouse he had taken over and ordered its manager to professionalize its services and attract more customers.
Gu Sheng attended a Hongxing meeting, then asked Teem-Kwan to introduce him to Ba Bai so he could seek investment for his property business. At Mong Kok Qian Kun Films, Teem-Kwan agreed to contact Ba Bai and invited Gu Sheng to inspect a film shoot.
Gu Sheng borrowed money from Ba Bi to fund Golden Harvest Properties' expansion and planned to open branches across Hong Kong. Meanwhile, Chiang Tin-sang sent Big B to kill Ba Bi over Teem-Kwan's drug trafficking.
Big B sent Chan Ho-nam to kill Ba Bi, while Gu Sheng used his newly unlocked Wheel rewards to improve his skills and considered how to advance. After Chan Ho-nam killed Ba Bi, Gu Sheng convinced Teem-Kwan that he had been cheated out of a promised loan and ended their call on friendly terms.
Gu Sheng took in Ah Dong, Mantis, Ah Yong, and Ah Bo, then brought them to the boxing gym to assess their abilities. He left Chan Ho-nam badly injured after defeating him and his followers, while the four newcomers prepared to spar for Gu Sheng.
Gu Sheng recruited Chen Dong, Silly Fook, and several others, then arranged training and a boxing gym for them. Meanwhile, Big B urged Chan Ho-nam to recover and control his men, while Hung Lok’s leaders decided to send Fai Chuen after Gu Sheng.
GS survived an ambush by Fai Chuen and his blade-wielding crew, defeating the attackers and ordering his gang to hunt down Fai Chuen. He had the captives taken away to a secluded place while Silly Fook went to the hospital.
