A helping hand
After the band member and his mother asked for leave from René, the manager of the Breeze Ballroom, the drumbeats started again, and people began a new round of Twist.
Lumian glanced at Jenna standing beside him and casually remarked, "I thought you'd say something to comfort him, after all, you know him and often collaborate with their band."
Wearing a sequined red Long Dress that exposed a large expanse of her chest, Jenna pursed her lips and said calmly, "In that situation, what he needed wasn't comfort, but venting. Any comfort would have been a sharp sword piercing him."
Lumian looked Jenna up and down for a few seconds:
"You know so much about it? It feels like you've experienced it firsthand..."
Jenna looked down at her toes, smiled, and said, "I was in a similar state a few years ago when my father passed away."
"Later, one day, before dawn, my mother took me to the roof of the Apartment and stayed with me until the Sun rose. We saw the distance gradually brighten, the sky gradually change from black to deep blue, and then become lighter and lighter. We saw the clouds tinged with bright gold, and other colors as well."
"At that moment, she told me that the darkness would eventually Past, the Sun would surely rise, and light would definitely shine on the earth."
"I'll find an opportunity to say something similar to him when he gets back to the band."
Lumian, then remarked with emotion:
You have a good mother.
"Yes." Jenna accepted the compliment with a hint of pride.
Lumian then laughed and said, "You said so much just now without using a single swear word. That's not like you."
Moreover, they seemed quite cultured.
"Damn it! In your heart, am I the kind of person with low morals who constantly swears?" Jenna cursed angrily as she walked towards the dressing room to prepare for the next song.
Lumian sat back down at the bar, pondering another question:
He's going for therapy tomorrow afternoon, and Louis Lund could be there at any time on Sunday.
What if I miss it?
Lumian's first reaction was to write to "Lady Magician" and ask her to consult with her Psychiatrist, Lady. Susie, to see if the treatment could be postponed for a day. However, she felt that her condition had been somewhat unstable in the past two days, and if she did not have a follow-up appointment in time, she might suffer a great loss when tracking Louis Lund's trail.
It's important to understand that even if Madame Pualis isn't entirely equivalent to "Night Lady," she's not Lumian can confront head-on right now. His main goal is to find this survivor from Cordou Village and have a friendly chat with her.
Lumian didn't harbor much hatred towards Madame Pualis, even though she also worshipped the Evil God and did some things in the Cordou Village. However, it seemed that she was not the culprit behind the Calamity —she had been forced to leave some time before the Ritual.
What other people believe is none of Lumian's business, nor does he intend to.
Therefore, if he is in an unstable state and does something rash that escalates the conflict with Madame Pualis and makes him her enemy, things will become extremely troublesome and may even cost him his life.
As for the conflict with the Stinger Gang, "Lady Moon's" problem is not the same as "Night Lady's" problem.
After thinking for a while, Lumian decided to find an accomplice to take his place in keeping watch on Louis Lund and to track him down to his residence in Trier.
"Those without Beyond Ability need not be considered; they simply cannot complete the tracking."
"There are two options at the moment. One is the Information Broker Anthony Reid, who is suspected to be Beyonder in the ' Psychiatrist ' Pathway. He has sufficient tracking ability, and he has already accepted my Commission, taken my deposit, and knows that I am looking for Louis Lund. Tracking him and confirming his whereabouts is also part of the mission. If all else fails, I will add some more money."
"Secondly, there's Franca. She and Aurora both belong to the Curly-Haired Baboon Research Society. She knows my true identity and has shown some care for me. To a certain extent, she's trustworthy. Hmm, she also owes me a favor. Her strength is enough to track Louis Londo and even control him halfway through..." In a flash, Lumian stood up, went up to the bedroom on the second floor, and left the Breeze Ballroom through the window.
Outside room 305 of the Golden Rooster Inn.
Lumian knocked on the Wooden Door.
"Please come in," came Anthony Reid's voice, spoken in West Coast of the Sea of Mist accent.
The door slowly opened behind him as he answered.
That One Information Broker appeared before Lumian once again.
The oil on his chubby face seemed to have just been cleaned off, making him appear even more honest and simple.
He was wearing a gray-blue Worker Uniform, as if he had spent the entire day in the Market District and the southern Botanical Garden District.
"I saw the note you left." Anthony Reid touched his receding, light yellow hairline. "I've been keeping an eye on Market Avenue."
Lumian showed no sign of the inexplicable unease. He glanced around and said directly, "I have other business to attend to from 2:30 to 5:00 tomorrow afternoon. If you spot the target during that time, don't bother to notify me. Follow him and pinpoint his residence."
Anthony Reid stared at Lumian for a few seconds with his Deep Brown Eyes:
"Good."
He didn't mention adding money, and Lumian was happy to keep quiet about it.
No. 3 White Coat Street is a relatively new Apartment. The beige building has a dynamic curve, with many concave and convex walls, and various Statues, including Angel, animals, celebrities, and legendary objects. Large windows, pilasters, and scrolls are also present in large numbers.
Lumian stood in front of room 601 and rang the doorbell.
With a ringing sound, Franca opened the dark red door.
Her flaxen -Linen-Colored long hair fell naturally and loosely, and she wore a light white silk nightgown that didn't reach her knees, with a low neckline that revealed a patch of white skin.
Seeing that the other person was completely unguarded and not even wearing underwear, Lumian decided not to let her gaze wander.
Franca seemed to know who the visitor was before she even opened the door, and asked with a smile, "Here to ask about Mysticism knowledge?"
"After all this talk, you've finally come to our door."
"No, there's something else." Lumian gestured for them to go inside and talk.
Franca turned around and walked towards the sofa area.
As Lumian followed closely behind, he habitually glanced around.
This is an Apartment with two bedrooms, a Washroom, a living room, and a kitchen. The sofas, Coffee Table, dining tables, chairs, cabinets, and various decorations in the living room are either off-white, iron black, silver white, or light gray. The colors are few and not bright, which makes it look elegant and clean, and also has a simple and cool texture, which is completely different from the living room style of most families today.
Lumian sat down at one end of the Long Sofa, watching Franca curl up her legs and recline in the Armchair diagonally opposite her, revealing her exceptionally beautiful curves.
"What is it?" Franca asked.
Lumian pointed at her:
"Don't you want to change your clothes?"
Franca glanced down at her nightgown and suddenly realized, "Maybe it's because you know what my original gender was. When I'm with you, I always have this illusion that I'm still a man, and I forget to pay attention to these details."
She immediately smiled, and instead of changing her clothes, she changed her sitting posture, making her appear even more alluring.
A few seconds later, she even got up from the Armchair and sat down next to Lumian.
Seeing Lumian's questioning look, she chuckled and said, "Since you don't read them anyway, why should I change them?"
She adopted an undisguised teasing stance.
"Lady, you have a really bad sense of humor," Lumian sighed.
Franca said with a smile, "Life is already hard enough, so you have to find some fun for yourself."
"I'm considered lucky. Society who have given up hope for the Future and whose life purpose is to pursue fun. They created a group called ' April Fool's Day.' Your Older Sister probably mentioned it, right?"
"It was mentioned." Lumian had seen it in Aurora's Witchcraft Notes.
Franca offered no further explanation, looking at Lumian with her Lake-Colored Eyes, waiting for him to state his purpose.
Lumian asked rather directly, "I'd like to ask you for a favor."
"Hmm?" Franca asked in a very cooperative tone.
Lumian carefully considered his words before saying, "Since you've seen my wanted poster, you should know about those things."
"I've received intelligence that a man named Louis Lund will be appearing on Market Avenue tomorrow. He has close ties to the bigwigs behind the Stinger Gang."
"I want to catch him and find out the truth about the Calamity in Cordou Village, but I have important business tomorrow afternoon and can't stake out him myself. I hope you can help me. If he shows up, follow him and find out his whereabouts. If you are confident, you can also capture him for me. He used to have extraordinary power equivalent to Sequence 8, and should be ' The Gardener,' but I don't know now."
"After you took that Mirror, didn't you say you'd give me some compensation? This is it."
Franca said, slightly annoyed, "This is related to the death of a ' Muggle,' and I will certainly offer help. How can that be considered compensation?"
"Stalking doesn't count, but taking action does?" Lumian tentatively suggested.
Franca could see that he still harbored a considerable amount of politeness and distance, so she didn't insist and nodded, saying, "That's fine too."
She immediately showed curiosity:
"What could be more important than capturing that man, that Louis Lund?"
"I thought you'd be more interested in the truth about Cordou Village."
Lumian thought for a moment, then said frankly, "After the Calamity in Cordou Village, I developed some psychological issues and am currently receiving regular treatment. I'm afraid that if I don't have my follow-up appointments in time, I won't be able to control my emotions and it might sabotage our efforts to uncover the truth."
Franca nodded with a hint of pity, indicating that she understood.
She offered, "Do you need me to help you find a real Psychiatrist, the kind with Beyond Ability?"
"My Psychiatrist is him," Lumian said without hiding anything.
Knowing that her "Muggle" brother was attending other Occult Gathering, Franca didn't press the matter further.
Lumian then mentioned the characteristics of the "Villain" and the "Gardener," as well as the existence of Anthony Reid, and described his appearance to prevent Franca from mistaking him for Louis Lund's accomplice and causing unnecessary conflict.
After explaining the matter, he stood up and prepared to leave.
"Since you're here, why don't you ask me for some knowledge about the Mysticism?" Franca stood up, amused.
"Louis Lund might also show up tonight." Lumian just wanted to get back to Breeze Ballroom as soon as possible.
Just then, he and Franca both looked toward the doorway.
Light footsteps came up the stairs and stopped there.
Franca glanced at the cat's eye from afar, her expression suddenly turning strange.
She lowered her voice and said to Lumian, "Jenna!"
