Chapters 1176–1180 Vol. 12 Read

Ch. 1176A "temporary" retreat

Klein negotiated a temporary truce with the Fallen Mother Goddess by changing the contract’s deadline, ending the immediate battle as the weakened sides withdrew. He then restored the star region and Earth, while Grisha Adam’s unstable state remained unresolved.

  • Lumian and Amanises prepared to fight the wounded Unquenchable Muttering, while the Higher-Dimensional Watcher fled the battlefield.
  • Klein distorted and deceived a clause in the Fallen Mother Goddess’s contract, changing its deadline to before the incident concluded and proposing that She wait until Her weakness passed.
  • The Fallen Mother Goddess accepted a temporary truce and departed; Unquenchable Muttering and the Higher-Dimensional Watcher withdrew, and Medici confirmed the battle was over to Franca, Leonard, and the others.
  • Klein explained that his allies’ temporary strength was fading, and he and Lumian recognized that releasing the Genie was their fallback if the battle resumed.
  • Amanises warned that the Primordial Witch God’s consciousness was gaining the upper hand over the sleeping Grisha Adam, and Klein agreed to release him after a brief delay.
  • Klein wished the star region back to its state near the end of the old era, restored Earth to before the Fallen Mother Goddess’s descent, and returned the protected zone and its inhabitants to their original places.

Ch. 1177God loved the world

Lumian killed Grisha Adam, whose remains became a meteor shower over the restored Earth, then joined Klein and Amanises in altering the sealed Overlord of the Supernova into an apparent ally. They left the Spirit World planning for future conflicts, while Klein warned that their safety depended on everyone remaining in good condition.

  • Lumian destroyed Grisha Adam at his request, and Grisha Adam's remains descended over Earth as a colorful meteor shower.
  • Klein rejected Lumian's suggestion to kill the Overlord of the Supernova, fearing his resistance would let the Fallen Mother Goddess breach the Spirit World's blockade.
  • Klein imposed foolishness on the Overlord of the Supernova while Lumian implanted a virtual persona that made him regard them as friends and avoid the Fallen Mother Goddess's allies.
  • The Overlord of the Supernova thanked Klein and Lumian, then left the Spirit World while avoiding the Fallen Mother Goddess's gaze.
  • Klein outlined plans to strengthen Earth's forces over the coming decades and said he would use the Wishing Lamp to draw out and influence the hidden Mist of Uncertainty.
  • Amanises said the apocalypse seemed to have passed, and Klein cautioned that this depended on them all remaining in good condition.

Ch. 1178The meaning of protection

Leonard watched Antigonus escort a bewildered woman away, while Fors led the Travel Group to Lobav Star and Franca later met Melissa Moretti in Trier. Franca offered to help Melissa find a way around her Alchemist advancement ritual, and Melissa took comfort in hearing that Klein might walk the earth again in a few years.

  • Leonard asked Antigonus whether they needed to implant the woman’s original memories, and Antigonus led her away without doing so.
  • Fors brought Pallez, Xio, Cattleya, Sharon, Hella, and the others to Lobav Star and explained its civilization and customs.
  • Franca showed Alger a mirror that let him receive prayers across star regions, then joked about the Travel Group’s painting title, “Mr. Moon Staying Home.”
  • In Trier, Franca met Melissa at Saint Audrey Church and learned Melissa was a Sequence 5 Astronomer troubled by the Alchemist ritual.
  • Franca suggested alternatives for Melissa’s ritual and offered to explain them over coffee; Melissa recalled Leonard’s words that Klein might walk the earth again in a few years.

Ch. 1179Dream

Franca revisited Trier, attended the Tarot Club’s monthly gathering, and traveled to the old world before reuniting with Lumian and Jenna in the village tavern. She planned a trip back to the Western Continent with Aurora and invited Jenna to join them.

  • Franca saw Melissa enter the research institute, then noticed Ouroboros praying at the Church of the Eternal Blazing Sun and checked on Julian and Bella before they left Trier.
  • At the Golden Rooster Inn, Franca learned Danitz had bought the street’s properties and heard a young man celebrate returning to Trier.
  • At the Tarot Club gathering, Fors described the members’ travels among the stars, including their encounter with the God of Steam and Machinery on Lobav Star.
  • Franca traveled through a mirror to the old world, saw Cheek announce plans to abolish traffic lights, and spotted Alista Tudor serving as a priest.
  • Franca found Lumian and Jenna at the Old Tavern and told Lumian she and Aurora planned to return to the Western Continent; Lumian said Jenna would have to decide whether to go.

Ch. 1180Side story: Daily life in Cordou Village

Lumian paid an actress to trick Larca Guillaume into being discovered naked beside a farmer’s ewe, avenging him for spreading a rumor about Aurora. Aurora warned Lumian to keep his pranks within bounds, while he arranged for Raymond Klegg to spread a humiliating nickname for Larca.

  • Larca Guillaume speculated that Aurora had been a rich man’s mistress, then tried to buy a drink for an alluring young woman who entered the Old Tavern.
  • The young woman lured Larca to a hay shed, where Lumian’s prank left him naked beside a ewe as the sheep’s owner and searchers rushed in.
  • Lumian paid the actress five felkines and warned her to leave before the parish priest found her.
  • Aurora confronted Lumian about his prank, cautioned him not to provoke the parish priest, and told him to behave until they left Cordou Village.
  • Lumian asked Raymond Klegg to spread the nickname “Man of the Sheep” for Larca, promising to help him with his studies the next day.
  • Aurora watched Lumian leave and reflected that she had quietly enabled him to teach the village children without attracting attention from the Church or government.
