Background

Kushina was five years old when the Uzumaki Clan was attacked during its escape from the Land of Whirlpools. Her father, Clan Head Uzumaki Akira, personally carried her through the breakout rather than entrust her safety to anyone else. After the survivors reached Liu Feng’s ships, Akira placed Kushina in Liu Feng’s care during a subsequent Root attack. 8 9

The destruction of her clan left her silent, frightened, and dependent on Liu Feng for security. She fell asleep while walking after reaching Konoha and clung to Liu Feng even after he brought her to his home; Mikoto then helped care for her. 9 10

Akira rejected Hiruzen Sarutobi’s proposal that Kushina become the next Jinchuriki, refusing to let his daughter be treated as a weapon. Danzo had also sought to recruit her into Root, making her a target for competing Konoha factions. 18

Personality

Kushina begins as a traumatized child but regains her fiery temperament, earning the nickname “Bloody Red Pepper.” She is blunt, easily provoked, and fiercely protective of Liu Feng; during the war against Konoha, she resolves to show no mercy to anyone who threatens him. 18 94

She is proud of her talent and frequently competes with Mikoto and Tsunade. Tsunade’s defeat of her teaches her humility and drives her to train more seriously, though Kushina remains playful, impulsive, and prone to jealousy. 61 81 86
