Background

Amanises had worked as a senior executive before her life in the present world. She understands the relationship between that earlier world and the current one, unlike Klein’s initial belief that he had simply transmigrated. After descending from Sefirah Castle, she became an angel and a subordinate deity of the Annihilation Demonic Wolf 316 331 494.

During the Dark Epoch, Amanises was known as the Goddess of Misfortune. Together with the Ancient Sun God, she helped Lilith survive her apparent self-destruction. Lilith later stole Omebella’s fate and assumed the identity of the Earth Mother, forming the basis of their enduring secret alliance 95.

As the Evernight Goddess, Amanises shelters the Sanguine in the Amanda Mountains. Her alliance with their ancestor explains this protection, although the Sanguine themselves do not initially know its underlying reason 95.

Personality

Amanises is patient and highly calculating. She ignores Badheil’s repeated provocations rather than revealing her strength, allowing him to continue underestimating her. Her plans against the Numinous Episcopate likewise account for its principal angels before she moves to seize the Death God’s Uniqueness 317 400.

Her patronage is generous but deliberate. She treats Kronos as a prospective ally, removes obstacles to his advancement, and invests substantial resources in concealing him. Her former executive experience shapes this approach: she views his emerging authority as an investment whose value depends partly on keeping rival patrons away 300 317 331.

That pragmatism can become ruthless. When Kronos reveals knowledge of Lilith’s secret, Amanises considers killing him or erasing his memories to protect her plans. She later regrets exposing that intent and attempts to repair their relationship through gifts and less intrusive cooperation 398 448 455 456.

She nevertheless places collective survival above immediate religious advantage. Before supporting Kronos’s coup, she requires him to preserve the Church of Storms rather than weaken a useful ally as the Apocalypse approaches 456.

Abilities & Skills

Concealment

Amanises can hide people, powers, identities, and entire operations from supernatural observation 45 300 398.

  • Conceals Klein after his arrival, preventing other powerful beings from immediately discovering him 463.
  • Erases Kronos from observation after his use of Time Reversal, then kills the Archduke of Blood to eliminate a witness 315.
  • Supplies divinity that allows Kronos’s Concealment Cloak to hide his identity even from True Gods, unless they inspect him face-to-face 300.
  • Conceals the True God divinity within the Gift of Life until she chooses to reveal it 398.
  • Her divinity powers a ritual that hides Kronos’s ambush preparations—and later Kronos himself—from the Hidden Sage 476 477.

Darkness and Death

Her darkness and death authorities can suppress enemies, manipulate death-related powers, and interfere with souls 400 414 495.

  • Interrupts the convergence of Azik and his corrupted half-soul 400.
  • Separates the Death God’s Uniqueness from that half-soul and returns the restored soul fragment to Azik after Kronos reverses its corruption 405.
  • Wraps Olnia’s Underworld mark in darkness to protect her, then consumes the mark with death power 414.
  • Combines darkness and death to evoke instinctive fear, weakening even the Supernova Dominator 495.

Twilight Giant Power

Integration of the Twilight Giant Pathway gives Amanises immense physical strength 495.

  • Sends the Supernova Dominator flying with a punch despite the disparity between her size and his colossal body 495.
  • Uses darkness, death, and twilight together during their confrontation 495.

Divine Bestowals

Amanises can place marks, grant divinity, and create charms that convey portions of her power 300 343 398.

  • Her mark identifies Kronos as her Blessed, permits him to contact her, and allows her to monitor his movements 343 348.
  • A divinity-infused charm can briefly grant Kronos Archangel-level power. Because he is not of the Darkness Pathway, its usefulness and duration are limited; forcibly retaining it risks contaminating his Beyonder powers 398.
  • Provides Kronos access to a portion of the Church’s faith to help stabilize his condition after he becomes an angel 397.
  • Replaces the removed mark with a jade communication token when renewing their cooperation 455 456.

Spatial Intervention and Manifestation

  • Summons people into Darkened Heaven and returns them to their previous locations 263 264 283.
  • Transfers Kronos and Azik out of the Spirit World into her kingdom, preventing Xiya from finding them 405.
  • Acts through the Angel of Concealment to avoid attracting the attention associated with a direct divine descent 399.

Temporary Eternal Darkness

Water from the River of Eternal Darkness temporarily enables Amanises to combine her three pathways into a unified power 496.

  • Forces the Supernova Dominator to retreat before redirecting the attack toward the Uncertain Mist 496.
  • Engulfs the Uncertain Mist near the Corpse Cathedral, creating an opening for Adam 496.
  • She has not obtained the River of Eternal Darkness itself. Full union with that Sefirah remains necessary for her corresponding Great Old One state 496.

Divine Kingdom & Resources

  • Darkened Heaven — Her divine kingdom, associated with the Amanda Mountains and containing a Gothic palace. It serves as a meeting place, refuge, and defensive position in the Astral World 95 317 405 456.
  • Darkness Card — Reached her through members of her Church rather than an active search. She later gave it to Kronos 244 431.
  • Fool Card — Held through her connection with Antigonus. She eventually sends it to Klein to enable his transaction with Kronos 431.
  • Gift of Life — A Sequence Two Mother of Desolation artifact containing concealed True God divinity, seized during the Oathbreaker War. She transfers it to Kronos for his mission against an Archangel 398.
  • Underworld mark — Taken from Olnia, providing an entry point for influencing the Underworld and disrupting Gregrace’s potential resurrection arrangements 414 415.
  • River of Eternal Darkness water — Obtained with Klein’s help shortly before the Outer Deities’ invasion; enables temporary combination of her pathways 496.

Relationships

  • Kronos — Blessed, subordinate, and eventual divine ally. Their cooperation survives her consideration of killing him, but the resulting loss of trust ends her position as his exclusive patron 283 317 398 448.
  • Lilith — Long-standing secret ally. Their cooperation underpins Evernight’s protection of the Sanguine and the plot against Badheil 95 415 448.
  • Klein — Her chosen candidate for Lord of the Mysteries. She conceals his arrival, supports his growth, and ultimately defeats Amon on his behalf 316 463 492 494.
  • Arianna — Trusted angel and agent who handles recruitment, communications, and sensitive operations for her 244 323 372 400.
  • Azik Eggers — Restored with her assistance in exchange for taking over the Numinous Episcopate and serving her until the Apocalypse 400 405 470.
  • Adam — Fellow strategist with whom she maintains a tacit understanding, despite differing preferences concerning the Lord of the Mysteries. He later takes over her defensive post so she can confront Amon 316 492.
  • Leodero — Important ally. Amanises explicitly protects his Church from suppression during Kronos’s coup 323 456.
  • Badheil — Rival who repeatedly underestimates her and ultimately falls to the plot involving Amanises and Lilith 317 448.
  • Stiano — Former collaborator turned enemy after siding with Badheil. She subsequently supports Kronos against him 317 448 486.
  • Amon — Opponent of her chosen successor. She defeats his main body but permits an angel-level avatar to escape out of consideration for Adam 494.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Becoming Kronos’s Patron

Amanises is the first True God to notice Kronos’s unusual power. When pressure from the Church of Steam and Machinery threatens his family, he seeks her protection and joins the Church of Evernight as a high-ranking Nighthawk deacon 45 244 263.

She tests whether his Power of Time can contain corruption from the Nation of Disorder. After he succeeds, she requests a future favor and allows him to remain in the Church without mandatory missions in the meantime 263.

When Will blocks Kronos’s access to Hermit Pathway formulas, Amanises investigates the restriction and advises him not to mistake Will’s influence for complete control over fate. She later arranges a wager involving Adam and Will, allowing Kronos to choose its timing 283 317.

Protecting the Time Authority

Kronos’s first conspicuous use of Time Reversal alerts powerful beings to a new authority. Amanises immediately identifies its source, conceals him, and kills the Archduke of Blood. The visible Abyssal doorway gives the other gods a plausible explanation for her intervention 315 316.

She subsequently marks Kronos as her Blessed and warns him that Stiano’s mission against the Moses Ascetic Order is a test of his concealed identity as Horamick 343 344.

Acquiring Death and Undermining Badheil

While preparing to separate the Death God’s Uniqueness from Azik, Amanises recruits Kronos to intercept an Archangel. His knowledge of Lilith’s identity nearly causes her to kill him, damaging their otherwise increasingly comfortable partnership 397 398.

The operation succeeds: Kronos and Azik occupy Xiya while Amanises secures the Uniqueness. Kronos then reverses the corruption in Azik’s separated half-soul, allowing Amanises to reunite his soul safely 400 403 405.

After Badheil’s fall, Amanises dictates part of the postwar settlement. She secures benefits for the Sanguine and demands the Church of Steam and Machinery’s withdrawal from Loen. She refuses Stiano’s demand for the Knowledge Emperor characteristic without betraying Kronos 448.

Renewing Cooperation

When Kronos returns seeking support for a coup against the Augustus Family, Amanises avoids forcibly summoning him. She recognizes that their damaged trust requires restraint 455.

She supports the coup on the condition that the Church of Storms remain unsuppressed, advises Kronos on the Hidden Sage and his time authority, and gives him a jade token rather than imposing another monitoring mark 456.

After Kronos becomes the Hermit, she prevents other gods from assisting Stiano during their confrontation. She later guides Kronos in establishing the City of Civilization within the Astral World’s defensive line 486 489.

Defeating Amon and Counterattacking the Outer Deities

Amon’s cooperation with the Outer Deities prevents Amanises from immediately attending Klein’s decisive battle. Adam relieves her at the defensive line, allowing her to confront Amon directly 492.

She defeats his main body, extracts its Error and Door characteristics, and leaves them with Klein. She then returns to assist Kronos against the Supernova Dominator and the Circle of Inevitability 494 495.

In the coordinated counterattack, Amanises uses River of Eternal Darkness water to combine her three authorities temporarily. She drives back the Supernova Dominator, then redirects her darkness to engulf the Uncertain Mist and give Adam an opening 496.
