Chapters 176–200 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 176Daolon Wong appeared!

Jade unearthed a golden staff called the Eternal Flame Staff, and Jackie recognized its power just as Daolon Wong returned with Dark Chi and Earth Spirits. Jackie sent Jade to take the staff back to Pops while he faced Daolon Wong.

  • Jade dug up a golden staff covered in ancient writing, and Jackie examined it and identified it as the Eternal Flame Staff.
  • Dark Chi gathered at the excavation site, and Daolon Wong appeared and demanded the staff from Jackie.
  • Daolon Wong summoned a group of Earth Spirits, frightening the archaeologists into fleeing the trench.
  • Jackie handed the staff to Jade, told her to run back to Pops, and turned to confront Daolon Wong.

Ch. 177Phoenix!

Jade activated the scepter and summoned the Phoenix, which destroyed Daolon Wong’s Earth Spirits and rescued Jackie Chan. Daolon Wong escaped, while the Phoenix perched nearby as Jackie and Jade watched it.

  • Jade escaped the Earth Spirits but returned to Jackie Chan with the scepter as Daolon Wong sent more spirits after him.
  • Jackie Chan discovered that Good Chi let him destroy Earth Spirits with his kicks, but they trapped him far from Jade.
  • Jackie Chan told Jade to read the scepter’s inscription, and she summoned the Phoenix.
  • Jade asked the Phoenix to save Jackie Chan, and it destroyed the Earth Spirits with its flames.
  • Daolon Wong fled in black mist, and the Phoenix settled on a stone pillar as Jackie Chan joined Jade.

Ch. 178Freedom! Character!

Jade and Jackie watched the Phoenix break free from the scepter that had imprisoned it, and the Phoenix thanked Jade before flying away. From a distant ridge, Wangchuan recognized that Jade had freed it through the favor of Heaven’s Will and wondered whether her pure nature explained why she had let such power go.

  • Jade questioned why the Phoenix had been imprisoned in the scepter, and Jackie agreed it was unfair and suggested Pops might know how to free it.
  • The scepter grew hot, shattered into golden motes, and restored the Phoenix as its shackles broke.
  • The Phoenix thanked Jade, explained that it had been bound for tens of thousands of years, and flew into the sky after she urged it to go free.
  • Jade and Jackie set off to find Pops, while Jackie reassured her that the Phoenix would return.
  • Wangchuan watched from a distant ridge and concluded that Jade’s will had overridden a deity’s seal, then questioned why she had given up control of the Phoenix.
  • Wangchuan turned and saw He Xiangu behind him.

Ch. 179He Xiangu's bewilderment!

Wangchuan confronted He Xiangu, who warned that his return was worsening the world’s imbalance, but he said he had come back because his power and soul were bound to it. He Xiangu then discovered that Tso Lan had neither evil chi nor Good Chi, leaving his nature an unsettling blank.

  • He Xiangu greeted Wangchuan as Tso Lan and remarked on his human-like body, while he mocked her for waiting alone.
  • He Xiangu said Jade had freed the phoenix and questioned what Wangchuan thought as he watched her grieve and let it go.
  • He Xiangu warned that the world was collapsing because Wangchuan and Basha had left, leaving the Eight Demon Sorcerers’ places vacant and dark chi seeking new hosts.
  • Wangchuan said he did not care about the world’s collapse, but explained that his laws, trigram position, and soul’s anchor bound him to it, and blamed He Xiangu for making him a pillar.
  • He Xiangu showed Wangchuan the lotus that had once sealed him, provoking his displeasure before she put it away.
  • He Xiangu examined Tso Lan and found no trace of either evil chi or Good Chi.

Ch. 180Good and evil went hand in hand!

Wangchuan revealed that he had mastered the Kan Trigram and challenged He Xiangu, whose powers collided with his before they both vanished. Three days later, Jackie Chan and Jade returned to Uncle’s Antique Shop, where Pops warned that the Phoenix’s release would prompt Evil Chi to move.

  • He Xiangu recognized that Wangchuan had mastered the Kan Trigram and that his nature and origin had changed.
  • Wangchuan and He Xiangu unleashed their powers against each other, and their moon and lotus merged into a sphere that vanished with them.
  • Jackie Chan and Jade returned to Uncle’s Antique Shop, where Jade told Pops about Mozi’s time machine and Pops warned her not to touch it.
  • Jackie Chan and Jade recounted the Phoenix’s release, and Pops explained that the Phoenix was an ancient spirit beast of the Good Chi Faction.
  • Pops told Jade that Good Chi’s response to the Phoenix’s emergence meant Evil Chi would move as well.

Ch. 181The Rift Dimension! Defile Your Mother!

After Tara's mask was stolen from Section 13, Pops warned Jackie and the others that the Phoenix's emergence and the mask's disappearance reflected a growing balance between good and evil chi. In a Rift Dimension, He Xiangu defeated Wangchuan with power lent by the world's will, and they returned to the yellow-earth slope with their conflict unresolved.

  • Captain Black told Jackie that sorcerers had stolen Tara's mask from Section 13, prompting Jackie to head there.
  • Tohru said his premonition felt stronger than any before, while Pops explained that the Phoenix and Tara's mask had appeared as opposing forces and warned that the world was changing.
  • Wangchuan attacked He Xiangu with seven moons and then an eighth, but her lotus barrier endured and the world lent her power to overwhelm his moons.
  • Wangchuan stopped fighting and accused He Xiangu of borrowing the Heavenly Dao's power; she said it was the world's will, and both maintained polite appearances while cursing each other inwardly.
  • The Rift Dimension collapsed, returning Wangchuan and He Xiangu to the yellow-earth slope, where Wangchuan angrily complained that the Heavenly Dao favored He Xiangu.

Ch. 182He Xiangu's idea!

Wangchuan told He Xiangu he intended to unite the Kan and Dui trigrams, and she realized his success could create a new force of balance. She began steering him toward the plan by bringing up Daolon Wong and Tara, but Wangchuan dismissed them.

  • He Xiangu explained that the vacant Kan and Dui trigram positions were destabilizing the world and said she had come to see why Wangchuan had returned.
  • Wangchuan said he planned to unite the Kan and Dui trigrams and bring them into resonance through Law Reshaping.
  • He Xiangu considered how Wangchuan’s neutral state and control of both trigrams could make him a new node of balance, while Daolon Wong and Tara wanted the trigram power for themselves.
  • He Xiangu said she would not stop Wangchuan and hinted she had information he might not know.
  • He Xiangu asked whether Wangchuan knew Daolon Wong had rescued Tara, and Wangchuan said he was not interested.

Ch. 183A deal! The Eight Immortals!

He Xiangu warned Wangchuan that Daolon Wong and Tara wanted to seize the Kan and Dui Trigrams, then offered him access to Penglai in exchange for opposing them. Wangchuan accepted the deal and revealed that he had sensed He Xiangu’s seven hidden companions waiting nearby.

  • He Xiangu told Wangchuan that Daolon Wong and Tara sought the Kan and Dui Trigrams to regain bodies of their own.
  • Wangchuan grew angry at the threat to his trigrams and said anyone who tried to take them would die.
  • He Xiangu offered Wangchuan Penglai as a stable place to merge the trigrams, and he accepted her deal.
  • Wangchuan told He Xiangu to bring out her seven companions, revealing that he had sensed their immortal auras hiding nearby.

Ch. 184His choice! The aura of an old god!

Wangchuan left after the Eight Immortals confirmed that the Heavenly Dao had chosen him to unite with the Kan Trigram and become a balance node. In San Francisco, Jade unknowingly encountered Loki, who sensed an ancient deity’s aura within her and revealed that his son was about to wake.

  • Wangchuan vanished after telling the Eight Immortals that they should stop standing on clouds the next time they met.
  • He Xiangu explained that the Heavenly Dao had chosen Wangchuan to embody the Kan Trigram and balance opposing forces.
  • Han Zhongli agreed that Wangchuan could oppose Daolon Wong and Tara, while He Xiangu said he would not turn against them because he cared only about his own power.
  • Jade hurried home from school, collided with a woman, and continued on after the woman disappeared.
  • The woman transformed into Loki, who sensed an ancient deity’s aura in Jade and watched her run away.
  • Loki said his son was about to wake after shaking the Norse region from the seabed, alarming Odin and prompting Thor to search for him.

Ch. 185Someone Will Come Help Us!

Jade worried as Jackie fought Tara and the shadow soldiers, but Pops stayed focused on running the antique shop. After Jackie called for a spell that no longer worked, Pops told him someone would come help, leaving Jade eager to learn who.

  • Jade rushed into Uncle's Antique Shop and asked Pops whether Jackie’s fight with Tara meant the world was about to end.
  • Pops sold Mrs. Lin a jade bangle and told Jade that everyday life had to continue despite the danger.
  • Jackie called to ask Pops for the spell that had removed Tara’s mask, but Pops explained it no longer worked because Daolon Wong had undone the seal.
  • Pops told Jackie to hold on because someone would come help, then refused to tell Jade who it was.
  • Pops told Jade to wipe the counter while Tohru cooked dinner.

Ch. 186Cooperation!

Jade and Pops met Wangchuan, the Moon Demon, who arrived at the shop looking very different from when Jade had last seen him. He agreed to help fight Daolon Wong and Tara because he wanted to see what the newly awakened beings in San Francisco would do, and he told Jade he had seen a Rainbow Bridge appear over the city.

  • Jade rushed to greet the visitor, then hid behind Pops when she recognized the Moon Demon as Tso Lan.
  • Wangchuan teased Jade by asking whether he or Hsi Wu looked better in human form, then followed Pops into the shop.
  • Tohru brought Wangchuan fried chicken, fries, hamburgers, and Coca-Cola, and Wangchuan remarked that the fries were too salty.
  • Jade asked Wangchuan why he had come to help them fight Daolon Wong and Tara.
  • Wangchuan said he came because the situation seemed fun, then told Jade he had seen a Rainbow Bridge over San Francisco.

Ch. 187Valmont! A Band!

Valmont reunited with Finn, Lassoo, and Zhou, who proposed that they start a band together. As Valmont considered their idea, a mysterious, imposing stranger appeared and vanished into the crowd.

  • Finn, Lassoo, and Zhou found Valmont at the San Francisco bus terminal and reminisced about their time in the Dark Hand.
  • Finn suggested that the four of them form the Black Hand Band, with Valmont as lead singer, and Valmont became cautiously interested.
  • A burly stranger dressed in rough, old-fashioned clothes emerged from an alley, muttered about Midgard and Jotunheim, and collided with Lassoo.
  • The stranger studied Valmont and the others before disappearing into the crowd, leaving Valmont uneasy about whether he was human.
  • Finn pitched a song about Jackie Chan, and Valmont threatened to stuff him under a bus wheel before sending the three home.

Ch. 188Found you! Loke!

Loke ran a Mjolnir-themed shop in San Francisco's Chinatown, using tricks and magic to sell toy hammers and fixed-down replicas as Asgardian relics. Sol arrived carrying the real Mjolnir and confronted Loke about what he was doing.

  • Loke attracted customers by claiming his hammers carried Asgardian power and demonstrating a toy hammer's lights and sound effects.
  • Loke persuaded an elderly woman who could not lift a floor-fixed Mjolnir replica to buy a small lucky hammer.
  • Loke sold numerous hammers, while customers mistook his fixed-down replicas for genuine Asgardian artifacts.
  • Sol entered the shop with the real Mjolnir, cracked the counter by setting it down, and asked Loke what he was up to.

Ch. 189A prank! Loke's doubts!

Loke sold Asgard-style hammer replicas in Midgard and told Sol that Jormungandr, Fenrir, and other old powers were waking. Loke refused to return to Asgard, vanished before revealing his prank, and left Sol to follow after him.

  • Sol confronted Loke for selling hammer replicas under his name, but Loke insisted they were clearly labeled as replicas.

  • Sol asked Loke to return to Asgard, but Loke refused and hinted at an entertaining prank before vanishing.
  • Sol left the shop in pursuit of Loke after declining a customer’s request for a photo.

Ch. 190Kali! Quetzalcoatl!

Jackie Chan returned to Uncle's Antique Shop and learned from Wangchuan that the two men he had met were Norse gods, Loke and Sol. He then went to the San Francisco Natural History Museum with Jade and Wangchuan to investigate mysterious statues, where Wangchuan identified Kali and uncovered a silver statue of Quetzalcoatl.

  • Jackie Chan returned to Uncle's Antique Shop, where Pops introduced Wangchuan as an ally, and Wangchuan recognized the auras of the Norse gods Loke and Sol.
  • Wangchuan described Loke's history with Xiao Fung and characterized Sol as a good-hearted brute, while Jade listened and asked questions.

  • Jackie persuaded Mr. Thompson to let him take all seventeen statues from the museum.
  • After loading the statues, Wangchuan warned Jackie not to take them to Pops' antique shop and suggested Section 13 instead.
  • Wangchuan departed, and Jackie discovered Jade had vanished, apparently following him.
  • Jackie drove the truck toward Section 13 with the statues still wrapped in its cargo compartment.

Ch. 192Loke's prank!

Loke persuaded Daolon Wong and Tara to prepare to seize the Kan and Dui positions when Jormungandr awakens, while secretly admitting he had deceived them for his own amusement. As the sea began to stir, Daolon Wong and Tara chose to proceed despite their doubts.

  • Loke arrived late at the basement on Demon Island and claimed Sol had chased him after Odin sent him to investigate Jormungandr.
  • Loke told Daolon Wong and Tara that Jormungandr's awakening would briefly disrupt Midgard's laws, giving them a chance to seize the Kan and Dui positions.
  • After leaving, Loke revealed that Tso Lan had returned and that the opportunity would be too brief for Daolon Wong and Tara to succeed; he said he had set them up as part of a prank.
  • Back in the basement, Daolon Wong told Tara that the opportunity mattered more than Loke's motives, and they saw the sea churning as Jormungandr neared awakening.
  • Daolon Wong told Tara they had no way back and ordered him to get ready.

Ch. 193I took the elevator!

  • Sol struck Agni with Mjolnir, defeated him, and heard his warning that Kali was awakening and would bring judgment to Midgard.
  • Sol spotted Loke, Jade, and Wangchuan on a rooftop and headed toward them as Loke said the real show was about to begin.
  • The world shook, San Francisco Bay receded, and Jormungandr rose from the seabed to encircle Midgard, plunging San Francisco into darkness.
  • Daolon Wong and Tara sensed their chance in the Demon Island basement, and Daolon Wong activated the black gemstone.

Ch. 195Kali Awakens!

Jormungandr awakened and encircled the sky above San Francisco as Loke celebrated Ragnarok. While Jade stayed with Wangchuan, Jackie learned that Kali and Naga had awakened at Section 13 and rushed there; Pops noticed the stars flashing and ordered Tohru to prepare magic.

As Jormungandr grew until he spanned the Pacific and began encircling Midgard, Sol confronted Loke over the threat of Ragnarok. Wangchuan said he would act at the end and declared that Jormungandr would make a good pet, prompting Jade to ask if she could ride on the serpent’s head.

  • Jade asked Wangchuan how large Jormungandr was, and he explained that the serpent stretched from San Francisco to Tokyo and was still growing.

Ch. 198Loke! You lied to us?!

Loke watched Jormungandr move while Daolon Wong and Tara tried to exploit the turmoil, but their attacks failed because Loke had withheld crucial information. Kali appeared and destroyed Tara and his soldiers, drove Daolon Wong into the bay, then charged toward Loke and the others on the rooftop.
