Wang Guiyuan first appears as Yuan Mobai's true disciple, having remained in seclusion attending his master. He delivers Yuan Mobai's letter to Lei Jun and warmly explains why Yuan Mobai cannot meet the new Dao child in person. 4

As Yuan Mobai's eldest disciple, he assists with the concerns of younger Dao children and accompanies Tang Xiaotang during the uncertainty over her ordination. He is also attentive to internal affairs, warning that Chen Yi's willingness to accept support from competing factions could end badly. 14 34
