History
Joining Lin Yi
Da Sha persistently followed Lin Yi until Lin Yi allowed him to stay and gave him dry snack noodles. Unable to obtain a name from the boy, who answered with foolish laughter, Lin Yi named him “Da Sha.” Feeding him also registered him as a reserve target for Holy Mother Contribution 7.
When refugees claiming to be from Xiaohe Village approached the convoy, Da Sha’s vacant eyes briefly cleared. He pointed at them and shouted, “Halt! Monsters!” His warning exposed a danger that Elder Qi’s Guide sequence had failed to detect. Recognition of Da Sha as a Sequence Transcendent allowed both him and Lin Yi to enter the core convoy 7 8.
Elder Qi later concluded that an anomaly was hiding among the villagers. Lin Yi eventually identified the skin-wearing creature that had replaced Xiao Chusheng as the entity Da Sha had detected 11 18.
Fighting Beside Lin Yi
After Lin Yi was trapped inside a noodle shop, Da Sha repeatedly punched the cargo compartment blocking the exit, continuing even as his fists bled. Once Lin Yi escaped, he gave Da Sha the Rolling Pin stolen from the Butcher Anomaly 16.
Separated from the convoy, the pair joined Xu Zhong and Clown. Da Sha used the Rolling Pin to hold down an aberration near an overturned school bus while Lin Yi delivered the killing blows. After rejoining the convoy, he accompanied Lin Yi during the confrontation with Lu Sheng and Xiao Chusheng 17 18.
In the graveyard, Da Sha fought three armored weirds at once and escaped covered in wounds. When Lin Yi later collapsed, Da Sha carried him into the vehicle and remained beside him, murmuring “Master” until he woke 22 24.
Rescue in the Purple Grassland
Da Sha defended the roof of Lin Yi’s car against repeated attacks in the purple grassland. Still at Sequence 1, he became exhausted before vines dragged him away. Lin Yi initially declared that he would abandon him, but turned back to attempt a rescue 27.
Lin Yi recovered the unconscious Da Sha from a giant aberration’s feeding area. He briefly concealed him beneath soil and grass while avoiding the surrounding creatures, then retrieved him and fled by car. Clown’s intervention helped them escape the pursuing Nine-Headed Anomaly, and Da Sha later regained consciousness 28 29 30.
Awakening and Final Sacrifice
Inside Ice and Snow City, Da Sha became trapped in an illusion and stood unresponsive. Li Jie carried him during the escape from their shelter; Lin Yi later entrusted him to Clown, and Elder Qi took him aboard the convoy’s heavy truck 33 35 37.
While Lin Yi was being tortured by the Blood Ghost, Da Sha awakened in golden light with his awareness restored. He thanked Elder Qi for caring for him, asked him to look after his master, and flew back toward Ice and Snow City 39.
Da Sha shattered the Nine-Headed Anomaly’s body, broke the Blood Ghost’s bone whip, and destroyed the Blood Ghost. He gave Lin Yi the resulting blood tear and blood-red eye before explaining that some powers came at a price. His body dissolved into golden light, leaving the Rolling Pin behind 40.
His death deeply affected Lin Yi. Later, an old Daoist’s fatal sacrifice reminded Lin Yi of Da Sha; that memory helped move him to take the Daoist’s surviving disciple along despite his resolve to avoid further attachments 46.
Appearance
- Usual expression: Vacant eyes and a foolish grin; he frequently chuckles rather than answering questions 7 16.
- Golden eyes: A faint golden flash appears in his pupils when he recognizes the threat among the refugees 7.
- Awakened appearance: His dull expression disappears, and golden light surrounds his body. During flight, he resembles a golden meteor 39.
Personality
Da Sha is usually cheerful, minimally communicative, and compliant with Lin Yi’s instructions. He follows him while carrying supplies, takes watch when ordered, and attacks threats without hesitation 17 27.
His attachment to Lin Yi extends beyond obedience. He injures his hands trying to reach him, keeps vigil after his collapse, and repeatedly addresses him as “Master.” After regaining awareness, he remains devoted to Lin Yi and knowingly uses the power that ends his own life to save him 16 24 39 40.
His restored awareness also reveals a courteous and playful side: he formally thanks Elder Qi, then asks Lin Yi whether his victory was impressive while rubbing his head in his familiar manner 39 40.
Abilities & Skills
Monster Detection
Da Sha can recognize a concealed supernatural threat that initially escapes Elder Qi’s senses 7 8.
- Detects the skin-wearing entity among apparently ordinary refugees 11 18.
- His warning does not identify the disguised individual or explain the creature’s abilities 8 11.
Close-Quarters Combat
Da Sha is a reliable melee fighter even before his final awakening 17 27.
- Temporarily suppresses an aberration with repeated Rolling Pin strikes 17.
- Holds off three armored weirds during the graveyard battle 22.
- Defends a vehicle roof against numerous grassland creatures, but eventually tires and is captured by vines 27.
Golden-Light Awakening
His final awakening restores his awareness and grants combat power far beyond his previously demonstrated strength 39 40.
- Flight: Travels from the convoy to Ice and Snow City through the air 39.
- Golden staff attacks: Produces staff afterimages that shatter the Blood Ghost’s bone whip 40.
- Overwhelming force: Breaks free of the surrounding sea of blood and destroys the Blood Ghost 40.
- Fatal cost: Dissipates after the battle; the precise mechanism behind this price is not explained 40.
Limitations
- Impaired awareness: Lin Yi, Bai Xiaoyu, and Elder Qi suspect his mental condition is a sequence cost, but its cause is not confirmed 8 9.
- Illusion vulnerability: Becomes unresponsive under Ice and Snow City’s nightly illusion and must be carried to safety 33.
- Unidentified sequence: Neither Da Sha nor Lin Yi provides its actual name or advancement method 17 32.
Equipment / Items
- Rolling Pin — Anomaly sequence 8097, given to him by Lin Yi. Its strength scales with its user, and its stated cost is mental derangement. Da Sha treasures it and uses it as his principal weapon before his awakening; it falls to the ground when he disappears 16 40.
- Universal Wrench — temporary use — Holds the activated wrench while it combines the Big-Headed Anomaly’s skull with Lin Yi’s vehicle, allowing Lin Yi to free his hands without interrupting the process 25.
Relationships
- Lin Yi — Companion and self-addressed master. Their initially practical arrangement develops into mutual attachment: Lin Yi risks returning for Da Sha, and Da Sha ultimately sacrifices himself to save him 7 27 28 39 40.
- Elder Qi — Convoy leader and caretaker during Da Sha’s unconsciousness. Da Sha thanks him after awakening and entrusts Lin Yi’s future care to him 37 39.
- Clown — Traveling and combat companion. Helps Lin Yi escape with the unconscious Da Sha and later takes responsibility for him during the Blood Ghost crisis 17 29 35.
- Li Jie — Carries Da Sha when the city’s illusion leaves him unable to move 33.
