Power Progression

These developments concern individual members’ Sharingan, rather than a collective clan rank.

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Uchiha Ji — Three-Tomoe Sharingan 70 Revealed to have evolved his eyes when confronting Bieshu Feifan. His genjutsu, clones, and tactical combinations force Feifan to retreat.
Uchiha Xiangjing — Three-Tomoe Sharingan 122 Awakens under Feifan’s attack; Feifan immediately steals his left eye, while Fugaku saves the other.
Several other members — Three-Tomoe Sharingan 122 Repeated attacks provoke further awakenings. Feifan takes one eye from each victim during the outpost campaign.

Organization and Leadership

Clan Government

  • Clan head and elders: Fugaku’s father governs alongside elders during the investigation into noble robberies. They order the suspected Uchiha culprit found and returned while suppressing the clan’s possible involvement 64.
  • Young clan head: Before succeeding his father, Fugaku commands an Uchiha-heavy coastal outpost and directs its patrols, defensive arrangements, and rescue missions 114 116.
  • Internal opposition: Some members use Fugaku’s embarrassing succession gifts to mock him during clan meetings. These disputes remain active when Feifan and Might Duy later visit the compound 179 202.

Military and Political Position

  • Police duties: Most of the clan’s main force initially remains in Konoha to handle security, with relatively few members fighting outside the village 32.
  • Field organization: The clan fields all-Uchiha squads, including Ji’s four-person unit in the Land of Hot Water 70.
  • Hokage ambitions: Members discuss gaining enough strength and producing more jōnin to contend for the Fourth Hokage position. Some advocate more external missions rather than remaining in police service 114.
  • Strategic concern: Members acknowledge that their abilities are somewhat countered when fighting Kirigakure 114.

Notable Members

Member Role or significance
Uchiha Fugaku Young clan head, coastal commander, and eventual clan leader. Personally intervenes to protect members during Feifan’s eye-stealing attacks 114 122 178.
Fugaku’s father Unnamed clan head before Fugaku’s succession; represents the clan during disputes with Konoha’s leadership 64 96.
Uchiha Ji Highly technical Three-Tomoe fighter skilled in genjutsu, elemental ninjutsu, clones, and projectile interception 70 72.
Uchiha Zhongfen Police officer, recurring opponent of Feifan and the Might family, and their reluctant Chunin Exam teammate 57 99 176 203.
Uchiha Kun Feifan’s early squad captain. Dies when Feifan drains the special chakra sustaining his life 6 12.
Uchiha Qiongyue Squad leader who survives Feifan’s ambush with a Shadow Clone counterattack; later confirmed dead during their mission 37 51.
Uchiha Shizai Three-Tomoe outpost captain captured by Feifan, who records six of his genjutsu. Ultimately left completely blind 116 122.
Uchiha Obito Manipulated into seeking the Scroll of Seals; later serves a prison sentence and is assigned to Kakashi after release 82 178 242.
Uchiha Itachi Fugaku’s infant son, whose name is announced at the succession banquet 178.

Abilities & Skills

Sharingan

The Sharingan supports the clan’s predictive combat, genjutsu, and precision weapon use 24 37 70.

  • Movement prediction: Helps users anticipate close-range attacks and evade incoming weapons 24 89.
  • Projectile control: Qiongyue tracks disturbances in the air and deflects incoming weapons with carefully placed shuriken 37.
  • Physical limits: Predicting an attack does not guarantee the user can counter it. Ji’s Sharingan cannot prevent Might Duy from overwhelming him in taijutsu 245.
  • Uneven awakening: Some members have not awakened the Sharingan at all; Feifan encounters both an unawakened youth and an unawakened mixed-blood Uchiha 24 54.

Genjutsu

Sharingan genjutsu ranges from direct combat incapacitation to interference with witnesses’ memories 30 99.

  • An adult Two-Tomoe user traps Feifan in an illusion so convincing that he briefly believes he has returned to his former life as a pig butcher 30.
  • Ji combines misdirection and close-range eye contact to deliver a powerful Three-Tomoe genjutsu 70.
  • Zhongfen and another member arrest more than a hundred witnesses and erase their memories after losing a public confrontation 99.
  • Shizai possesses six genjutsu that require the Sharingan to reach their full power 116.
  • Strong ocular resistance or an intervening chakra-filled barrier can defeat particular applications, as Feifan demonstrates against Ji and Fugaku 70 84.

Fire Release

The Great Fireball Technique is repeatedly used by members ranging from young challengers to experienced captains 24 26 70.

  • Additional techniques: Tai, Ji, and Beidai demonstrate the Phoenix Flower Jutsu 47 70 72.
  • Technical refinement: Ji’s Great Fireball initially overpowers Feifan’s because of its superior quality rather than greater chakra quantity 70.
  • Combined attacks: Fugaku and seven other members jointly produce a Great Fireball attack nearly equal to Feifan’s during the outpost battles 120.

Weapons and Tactical Ninjutsu

Members combine kunai and shuriken with clones, transformations, mobility techniques, and sealing scrolls 37 70 72 117.

  • Wire-linked shuriken: Fugaku redirects previously deflected shuriken using attached wires and adds flames to the attack 117.
  • Nonmetal projectiles: Ji retrieves pebbles from a sealing scroll and accurately intercepts Feifan’s Magnet Release-controlled steel needles 72.
  • Clone deception: Qiongyue uses a Shadow Clone to survive an apparent finishing blow and counterattack from behind 37.
  • Transformation ambushes: Ji disguises himself as thrown dirt and later as a bird to approach Feifan unexpectedly 70 72.
  • Other elements: Ji demonstrates Water Release: Water Formation Wall and Lightning Release: Pepper Numbing 72 120.

Culture and Reputation

Clan pride, Sharingan prestige, and public reputation strongly influence members’ conduct. Kun invokes his Uchiha strength to justify monopolizing his squad’s tent and dismisses a teammate’s claim to shuriken expertise. Later, two defeated members abandon their complaint against Feifan rather than publicly acknowledge that their Sharingan lost to him and the Might family 6 99.

The clan’s police work also generates resentment. Feifan describes its enforcement as strict, overbearing, and poorly managed, while Shimura Daio’s hostility is explicitly attributed partly to other people’s influence. These judgments reflect hostile perspectives rather than a uniform account of every member 6 10.

Fugaku sometimes restrains this confrontational behavior. During the coastal assignment, Ji and Zhongfen tolerate Feifan’s provocations under his leadership instead of immediately attacking him 113 114.

History

Early Battlefield Encounters

Feifan’s first documented Uchiha captain, Kun, mistreats his subordinates but proves effective against enemy Genin after activating his Sharingan. Following successive battles and severe exhaustion, Kun dies when Feifan absorbs the chakra sustaining him. Feifan’s interest in the clan is already centered on acquiring its eyes 6 7 12.

Ji later kicks Feifan for falling behind during travel. Feifan obtains a transfer, and Shimura Daio leaves Ji’s command with him, depriving Ji of both assigned Genin 19.

Escalating Conflict with Feifan

Young Uchiha confront Feifan after hearing that he resisted Ji’s genjutsu. One destroys his home with a Great Fireball, prompting Feifan to accuse the clan of rebellion. Further challenges lead to Anbu interventions, compensation demands, and a Hokage reprimand against Uchiha Ba 24 26 29.

Qiongyue’s death deepens the clan’s suspicions. Hiruzen subsequently sends Feifan out with two adult Two-Tomoe Uchiha as a concession to the clan, knowing they intend to dispose of him. Feifan instead kills both and absorbs their ocular power 51 58 59.

Investigations and Covert Losses

When robberies of nobles show signs of Sharingan genjutsu, the clan leadership suspects one of its own members. It suppresses that possibility and joins Konoha’s wider denial of responsibility 64.

Feifan continues hunting isolated members. He distracts Ji with a Shadow Clone while killing Beidai, then later kills Ku and three companions sent to investigate the Fujiwara nobles and eliminate Feifan if they find him 72 89.

The clan also faces suspicion over children being hypnotized into stealing the Hokage’s possessions. Its investigation fails to identify Feifan, whose staged “Zhurong Armor” encounter even deceives Fugaku into believing he has confronted the culprit 82 83 84.

Coastal Outpost Attacks

Feifan joins an eastern coastal outpost containing eleven Uchiha and himself as its only outsider. Fugaku hopes to determine whether Feifan personally possesses unusual strength or is cooperating with someone else 114.

Operating through his original body and clones, Feifan repeatedly attacks the outpost while maintaining his presence among its defenders. He captures members, steals Sharingan, and uses fear and injury to provoke Three-Tomoe awakenings. Fugaku repeatedly intervenes to save victims’ remaining eyes 116 119 120 122.

By the end of the attacks, Shizai is completely blind, nine members are one-eyed, and Fugaku retains both eyes. More than ten quiet days follow before a messenger from the Nara commander reaches the devastated post 122 123.

Fugaku’s Succession

Fugaku succeeds his father at a clan ceremony attended by Hiruzen, Danzō, Feifan, and the Might family. Feifan and his companions give him toothpicks, false teeth, and a green jumpsuit, which internal opponents subsequently use to ridicule him 178 179.

The announcement of Itachi’s name causes Danzō to suspect that the clan knows about his human experiments. He orders his laboratory relocated and an investigation into the Uchiha; the passages establish this as Danzō’s belief, not proof that the clan possesses such information 179.

Later Assignments and Public Challenges

Zhongfen repeatedly becomes entangled in Feifan and Might Duy’s Chunin Exam plans. After Zhongfen and Obito are released from prison, Hiruzen assigns them to Feifan and Kakashi respectively, intending to use available manpower while presenting the arrangement as integration into village life 176 203 242.

A later confrontation draws successive Uchiha challengers into paid public matches. Ji loses to Might Duy’s Seventh Gate, Xiong Da falls to Feifan, and Zhongfen loses to Might Guy. More members are defeated before Fugaku arrives and pays one million to challenge Feifan; their fight has not begun by the end of the documented chapter 245 246.

Relationships

  • Bieshu Feifan — Recurring enemy who covets the Sharingan, kills members, steals ocular power, and manipulates clan investigations. His repeated accusations of an Uchiha coup are not themselves evidence of an actual rebellion 12 24 58 72 122.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi — Maintains the clan’s formal place within Konoha while balancing suppression and concessions. He rejects Danzō’s proposed surveillance and killings but knowingly offers Feifan to the clan as an expendable concession 25 58.
  • Shimura Danzō — Opposes an Uchiha Hokage and advocates action against the clan. Later becomes alarmed by his own belief that it holds leverage over his experiments 25 58 179.
  • Hyūga Clan — Joins the Uchiha in concealing possible clan involvement in the noble robberies; both clans later receive wartime mobilization orders 64 179.
  • Might Duy and Might Guy — Frequent opponents in Feifan’s disputes with the clan. Both defeat Uchiha challengers in public combat 99 245 246.
