Arc 7The Toad Sage’s Student

Bieshu Feifan disrupted Konoha’s dealings with Kumogakure, then pursued senjutsu under Jiraiya and trained at Mount Myōboku. After nearly three months, he returned to Konoha and met the teammate Hiruzen Sarutobi had assigned him and Might Duy for the Chunin Exams.

  • Bieshu Feifan forced Hiruzen Sarutobi to write a long mission report, then recruited Might Duy, Might Guy, and Kakashi Hatake for performances that helped make villagers believe Danzo was in Konoha.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy’s actions escalated tensions with Kumogakure, and Hiruzen Sarutobi arrested the delegation and later signed a non-aggression treaty.
  • Bieshu Feifan and his companions escorted the Kumogakure envoys with Jiraiya, beat and mistreated the prisoners, and delivered their bodies to the Land of Lightning border after the four died.
  • Bieshu Feifan sought senjutsu instruction from Jiraiya, failed an initial meditation test, and later impressed Jiraiya with his chakra reserves and ability to keep his chakra steady.
  • Bieshu Feifan sparred with Minato Namikaze and defeated him, then signed the Summoning Contract and traveled with Jiraiya and Minato to Mount Myōboku.
  • Bieshu Feifan met the Great Toad Sage, mocked his prophecy about the Child of Prophecy, and left him unable to respond to his rambling tale.
  • Bieshu Feifan trained at Mount Myōboku for nearly three months until he could sense natural energy without toad oil, then returned to Konoha.
  • Might Duy took Bieshu Feifan to Hiruzen Sarutobi, who introduced their assigned Chunin Exam teammate, and the teammate fell to his knees pleading that he was innocent.
Chapters 151–175 Vol. 2 Read

Ch. 151Suffer, Bro

Bieshu Feifan returned from more than half a year guarding the eastern border and overwhelmed Hiruzen Sarutobi with teasing and a drawn-out mission report. By nightfall, Hiruzen was still taking notes as an Anbu arrived.

  • Bieshu Feifan found Hiruzen Sarutobi trying to escape into the office wall, pulled him out, and clung to him while mocking his work habits.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi tried to resume grading documents, but Bieshu Feifan kept interrupting him and insisted on reporting his mission.
  • Bieshu Feifan delayed answering Hiruzen Sarutobi's questions about his appearance by lecturing him about emotional intelligence, leaving Hiruzen exhausted.
  • Bieshu Feifan made Hiruzen Sarutobi take out paper and a pen, then began dictating a report that blamed the Uchiha and praised his own leadership.
  • Bieshu Feifan continued listing his supposed achievements until nightfall while Hiruzen Sarutobi wrote furiously, and an Anbu came up.

Ch. 152Let's have a meeting

Bieshu Feifan took over Hiruzen Sarutobi’s meeting about the eastern coast mission, guiding the reports and turning the gathering into an orderly review. Afterward, he resumed recounting his supposed achievements to Hiruzen through the night, then returned home as a green figure kicked open his door.

  • An Anbu reported that Jōnin Nara and the other shinobi had arrived, while Bieshu Feifan kept Hiruzen Sarutobi writing down his boasts.
  • Bieshu Feifan prepared the damaged Hokage’s Office for the meeting and instructed Hiruzen to let him attend quietly.
  • Bieshu Feifan opened the meeting, introduced Jōnin Nara, and arranged for each attendee to report their part of the eastern coast mission.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi gave closing remarks using Bieshu Feifan’s earlier boastful words, and the meeting ended with applause.
  • Bieshu Feifan continued his mission report to Hiruzen until after breakfast and lunch, then left the office.
  • A green figure kicked open Bieshu Feifan’s door as he returned home.

Ch. 153Kakashi was never strong enough on the inside

Bieshu Feifan taught Might Guy and Might Duy the Thomas Flair, while Hiruzen Sarutobi discovered that a wanted poster identified Danzo as the rogue ninja Daddy Shinobi. The three spinning shinobi then went to recruit Kakashi, who shut himself inside his house.

  • Bieshu Feifan showed Might Guy the Thomas Flair, and Guy quickly learned it and challenged him to race around Konoha.
  • An Anbu told Hiruzen Sarutobi that Danzo was a suspect in the identity of Daddy Shinobi; Hiruzen ordered someone to impersonate Danzo and claim he had stayed in the village.
  • Bieshu Feifan and Might Guy raced through Konoha doing the Thomas Flair, and Might Duy joined them after returning from training.
  • Bieshu Feifan and the Might family went to Kakashi's house and urged him to join their training.
  • Kakashi saw the three spinning outside his door and locked himself inside as villagers watched in alarm.

Ch. 154The visitor wasn't Danzo

Bieshu Feifan coaxed Kakashi into joining him, Might Duy, and Might Guy in public antics, helping Kakashi stop worrying about villagers’ mockery. After an awkward encounter with Rin Nohara and learning that Obito Uchiha was still imprisoned, the group met someone who looked like Danzo, and Bieshu Feifan realized the man was an impostor.

  • Kakashi initially refused to join Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy, but their encouragement persuaded him to go out with them.
  • Bieshu Feifan punched a villager who mocked them, and the four performed strange poses and Thomas Flares around Konoha until Kakashi began enjoying himself.
  • Rin Nohara saw Kakashi spinning, and he collapsed from embarrassment before she and the others took him to a restaurant.
  • Rin Nohara told Kakashi not to worry about others’ opinions, then revealed that Obito Uchiha and Asuma were still in prison for stealing the Hokage’s forbidden book.
  • Kakashi confronted Bieshu Feifan over embarrassing him in front of Rin, but Bieshu Feifan and the Might family insisted he had nothing to be ashamed of.
  • Outside the restaurant, Bieshu Feifan spotted a man who looked like Danzo and realized he was an impostor as the man approached them.

Ch. 155Treating Them to a Meal

Bieshu Feifan and the Might family humiliated a Nara jōnin disguised as Danzo before agreeing to stage another performance for him. Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered the jōnin to go along with Bieshu Feifan’s dancing idea, while the jōnin asked about reimbursement for the six million he had paid.

  • Bieshu Feifan dragged the fake Danzo into a restaurant and tried to feed him and his Anbu companions leftovers, until diners took pity and bought them fried rice.
  • The fake Danzo revealed that he needed Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, Might Guy, and Kakashi Hatake to put on another performance; Bieshu Feifan demanded nine million up front, and the Anbu supplied the remaining six million.
  • Bieshu Feifan and the others discussed the performance at his home, and he chose a flashy red bodysuit for Might Guy.
  • The Nara Jōnin reported to Hiruzen Sarutobi that Bieshu Feifan wanted him to dance, and Hiruzen ordered him to agree so everyone would believe Danzo was in Konoha.
  • The Nara Jōnin asked Hiruzen Sarutobi when he would reimburse the six million.

Ch. 156The Konoha Dance Troupe appeared

Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy, Might Guy, and a fake Danzo performed a bizarre public show as the Konoha Dance Troupe, drawing a large and amused crowd. Hiruzen Sarutobi watched the finale and was left laughing at the performance while worrying that the real Danzo would take offense.

  • Bieshu Feifan trained and rehearsed with Might Duy and Might Guy while promoting the Konoha Dance Troupe, and Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered Anbu to publicize the show and Danzo's appearance.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, Might Guy, and the fake Danzo performed awkward ballet and a strange song before turning the stage into a comic horseback battle.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi disguised himself and joined the audience after an Anbu warned him about the fake Danzo's prominent role.
  • Bieshu Feifan and the fake Danzo acted out a scene involving flowery shorts, then Might Duy led the finale with a bizarre dance.
  • The audience cheered the troupe's performance, while Hiruzen Sarutobi returned to his office laughing and worrying that Danzo would turn against him.

Ch. 157It really wasn't genjutsu

After the Konoha Dance Troupe’s performance earned nearly ten million, Kakashi warned Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy to be wary of Danzo, but they dismissed his concerns. Meanwhile, Hiruzen confronted the battered Danzo over the crimes pinned on him, and Danzo later mistook Konoha’s friendly greetings and the troupe’s antics for an unbreakable genjutsu.

  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy counted nearly ten million in ticket proceeds, while Kakashi refused to join their dance troupe.
  • Kakashi warned the three to alert Hiruzen Sarutobi if Danzo tried to take them somewhere secluded, but Bieshu Feifan told them not to give Danzo a share of the proceeds.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi questioned Danzo about the Daddy Shinobi, the shell company, and his crimes in the Land of Water, while Danzo insisted Shimura Chizhang had framed him.
  • Hiruzen ordered Danzo to keep out of sight to prevent a war, and Danzo left the Hokage's Office furious and injured.
  • Danzo walked through Konoha, where villagers praised his supposed performance, and he repeatedly used Release without changing what he saw.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy approached Danzo with invitations to join them, and Danzo became convinced that Uchiha genjutsu had trapped him.

Ch. 158The man in the Genjutsu

Danzo believed an Uchiha had trapped him in a Mangekyō Sharingan Genjutsu, while Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy mistook his attempts to break free for severe constipation. After they carried him to a makeshift toilet, Hiruzen Sarutobi arrived and learned Danzo had been standing there since the day before yesterday.

  • Danzo struggled to dispel the Genjutsu as Kakashi and the Might family encountered him, and they mistook his strained appearance for needing to use the bathroom.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy brought Danzo a chamber pot, then dug a pit and carried him to a secluded spot when he still would not move.
  • Kakashi asked Danzo if he was under Genjutsu, but Danzo dismissed him, convinced Kakashi was part of the illusion.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy told Hiruzen Sarutobi that Danzo was unwell and led him to a wooden outhouse where Danzo kept shouting “Release!”
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi assumed Danzo was constipated, then was shocked to hear he had been standing there since the day before yesterday.

Ch. 159Hiruzen Sarutobi had a scheme

Danzo recovered from his injuries while enduring visits from Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy, then learned Hiruzen Sarutobi had arranged the same discount for him as Feifan. Hiruzen sent Feifan and the two Might men on an unsupervised D-rank mission to find a merchant’s missing cat, and Feifan began devising a plan.

  • Danzo accused Hiruzen Sarutobi of damaging his reputation with an impersonator and humiliating performances, while Hiruzen insisted it had all been for Konoha.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy visited Danzo with pork, potatoes, a rolling pin, dentures, and a stuffed toy, prompting Danzo to secretly transfer hospitals.
  • After recovering, Danzo learned that Hiruzen Sarutobi had granted him and Bieshu Feifan the only twenty-percent discounts in Konoha, and he angrily blamed Hiruzen.
  • An Anbu delivered a D-rank mission to Bieshu Feifan, and he discovered Might Duy and Might Guy had been assigned the same mission without a team leader.
  • The trio met their wealthy merchant client, who ordered them to find her missing cat that day, and Bieshu Feifan said he had an idea after the others wondered about using an Inuzuka dog.

Ch. 160Spies

Hiruzen Sarutobi tried to keep Bieshu Feifan and his companions away from Kumogakure's delegation, but their chaotic antics derailed the negotiations and brought the Cloud Ninja into their path. The chapter ended with Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy dragging the delegation's envoys into the Hokage's Office, claiming they had caught spies.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi learned that Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy had completed a missing-cat mission by burning a mountain and killing the cat.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered Anbu to keep the trio occupied, but they accused the Anbu of being spies and fought them.
  • Kumogakure's delegation demanded Danzo, and Hiruzen Sarutobi refused while the two sides argued over the Fourth Raikage A.
  • The Cloud Ninja mistook the trio's capture of spies for a smokescreen and discussed whether their own agents had been exposed.
  • Danzo urged Hiruzen Sarutobi to go to war with Kumogakure, but Hiruzen Sarutobi rejected his advice.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy burst into the Hokage's Office with Kumogakure's envoys, claiming the envoys had tried to kill Bieshu Feifan.

Ch. 161The situation was beyond saving

After Cloud Ninja attacked Bieshu Feifan’s group inside Konoha, Bieshu Feifan and Danzo pressured Hiruzen Sarutobi to respond firmly while the Kumogakure envoys denied responsibility. Hiruzen arrested the envoys and handed them to Danzo for interrogation, but was left feeling outmaneuvered by both Danzo and Bieshu Feifan.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi learned that Cloud Ninja had attacked in the village, while Bieshu Feifan blamed his lax security and urged war against Kumogakure.
  • Danzo joined Bieshu Feifan in pressing Hiruzen to retaliate, but Hiruzen initially refused to commit to war.
  • At a meeting with Konoha’s leaders, the Kumogakure envoys denied wrongdoing as Bieshu Feifan, Might Guy, and Might Duy beat and interrogated the captured Cloud Ninja.
  • The envoys continued accusing Konoha, and Hiruzen silently let the prisoners be interrogated until he ordered the delegation arrested and assigned their interrogation to Danzo.
  • Danzo and Bieshu Feifan criticized Hiruzen for being indecisive, leaving him privately wondering if there had been two of each of them in the office.

Ch. 162Danzo's scheme

Kumogakure’s failed delegation and Konoha’s public accusation brought the two villages closer to war. Danzo maneuvered Hiruzen Sarutobi into assembling troops against Kumogakure, hoping to secure command and advance his bid to become Hokage.

  • The Third Raikage learned that Konoha had killed half of Kumogakure’s delegation and captured the rest after they attacked three Konoha men, then received Konoha’s demand for an explanation under threat of war.
  • Danzo summoned Bieshu Feifan and brought him to Hiruzen Sarutobi’s office, where Bieshu Feifan joked about becoming Hokage and competing with Danzo for the role.
  • Danzo urged Hiruzen Sarutobi to prepare for war with Kumogakure and argued that he should become the Fourth Hokage if Hiruzen could no longer lead.
  • Bieshu Feifan and Danzo argued over who should command the campaign, and Hiruzen Sarutobi ordered them to stop and told Danzo to assemble the troops while he considered a commander.
  • Danzo left confident that Hiruzen Sarutobi’s decision had moved him closer to commanding the campaign and eventually becoming Hokage.

Ch. 163Looking for a promotion

Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy sought Chunin promotions but learned they needed a third teammate, and their recruitment notices attracted no volunteers. Feifan then approached Richuan Taiban for help, only to find the teacher furious and unsettled by the trio’s visit.

  • Bieshu Feifan decided to take the Chunin exam with Might Duy, while Might Guy agreed to wait two years before attempting it.
  • Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy visited Hiruzen Sarutobi, who evaded their attempts to corner him and explained that the Chunin exam required a team of three.
  • Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy advertised for a teammate in Konoha Plaza, but Genin avoided signing up because of their reputations.
  • Bieshu Feifan proposed another plan after more than ten days passed without applicants.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy confronted Richuan Taiban at the Ninja Academy and asked him for help, leaving him grim and wary.

Ch. 164Choosing a teammate

Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy sought Richuan Taiban’s help finding a third teammate for the Chunin exam, but their prospective recruit Jujian Xinshu insulted them and was beaten. Still without a teammate, they turned to Hiruzen Sarutobi, who promised to arrange one for them when the exam came.

  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy asked Richuan Taiban to find them a Genin teammate, and Richuan agreed to contact someone.
  • Richuan introduced them to Jujian Xinshu, but Jujian insulted the group and rejected them as teammates.
  • Bieshu Feifan broke Jujian’s wrist, and Might Duy and Might Guy knocked him unconscious.
  • Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy complained that Jujian was unsuitable and urged Richuan to find someone else.
  • Might Duy and Bieshu Feifan went to Hiruzen Sarutobi for help, and Hiruzen promised to arrange a teammate for them at exam time.

Ch. 165A mission arranged by a scoundrel

Danzo and Hiruzen Sarutobi clashed over Konoha’s peace treaty with Kumogakure, while Bieshu Feifan was assigned to escort the Kumogakure envoys back to the Land of Lightning. Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy beat and chained the envoys, and Jiraiya allowed their rough treatment as the escort set out.

  • Hiruzen Sarutobi signed a non-aggression treaty with Kumogakure, and Danzo spread rumors that the Hokage had been too afraid to fight.
  • Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy received orders to escort the Kumogakure Envoy Mission back to the Land of Lightning.
  • Jiraiya arrived to lead the escort, and Feifan recognized the wounded Kumogakure envoys as the men who had caused trouble in the Hokage's Office.
  • When one envoy threatened them, Feifan kicked him, Might Duy broke the other envoys' hands, and Might Guy knocked them unconscious with his nunchaku.
  • Feifan urinated on the unconscious envoys to wake them, and the three Konoha Shinobi chained them up and dragged them along while Jiraiya let them proceed.
  • Feifan urged Jiraiya to choose him as the next Hokage, and Jiraiya told him to focus on completing the mission safely.

Ch. 166Escorting meant transporting prisoners

Bieshu Feifan and Jiraiya escorted four Kumogakure envoys toward the Land of Lightning while Bieshu Feifan repeatedly beat them, and Jiraiya chose not to intervene. At the Land of Hot Water border, the group stopped at an inn, where Bieshu Feifan ordered the prisoners tied up in the stable and argued that they did not need to keep them alive.

  • Bieshu Feifan asked Jiraiya about the Great Toad Sage and Senjutsu, then offered to support Jiraiya as Hokage in exchange for lessons.
  • Bieshu Feifan took Might Guy’s whip and beat the four Cloud Ninja, then told Might Guy to keep whipping them without killing them.
  • Jiraiya told a Chunin that he would not stop Bieshu Feifan, criticizing Hiruzen Sarutobi for sending Konoha’s own Shinobi to Kumogakure for a dubious peace treaty.
  • The Land of Hot Water Shinobi refused the group passage, so Bieshu Feifan persuaded Jiraiya to submit an application and pay for their food and lodging.
  • At an inn near the border, Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy beat the four Cloud Ninja unconscious and ordered the waiter to tie them up in the stable.
  • Bieshu Feifan said Hiruzen Sarutobi had only ordered them to deliver the prisoners, not to keep them alive, and Jiraiya and the others did not object.

Ch. 167The cunning Cloud Ninja

Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy fed the four captive Cloud Ninja a mixture of slops and Oligei, then ignored their worsening illness until a doctor diagnosed them with acute gastroenteritis and serious infections. Meanwhile, Hiruzen Sarutobi received a complaint that the envoys had not reached the Land of Lightning, though Jiraiya had reported that everything was normal.

  • Bieshu Feifan and his companions made the four Cloud Ninja eat a bucket of slops mixed with Oligei, then returned to the inn while Jiraiya and the others watched.
  • Jiraiya delayed the transit-paper mission and spent Bieshu Feifan's money as the group remained in the Land of Hot Water.
  • When a guard reported that the Cloud Ninja were sick, Bieshu Feifan and his companions dismissed the concern and waited until the next day to check on them.
  • After seeing the Cloud Ninja vomiting and suffering diarrhea, Bieshu Feifan sent Might Duy to fetch a doctor, who diagnosed acute gastroenteritis, infected wounds, and necrotic hands.
  • The doctor learned that the captives had been fed feces mixed with swill, while Hiruzen Sarutobi received a letter asking why the envoys had not arrived at the Land of Lightning's border.

Ch. 168Mission accomplished

Jiraiya and Bieshu Feifan’s escort mission ended with the four Kumogakure envoys dead and their bodies dumped near the Land of Lightning. When Kumogakure demanded answers from Hiruzen Sarutobi, Bieshu Feifan arrived to give his own account, treating the envoy as an enemy to defeat.

  • Jiraiya delayed the escort at the Land of Hot Water border, then agreed with Bieshu Feifan and the others to bury the four dead Cloud Ninja before continuing the mission.
  • Bieshu Feifan argued that delivering the envoys’ bodies still fulfilled the mission, so Jiraiya used Earth Release to dig them up and the group dumped them at the Land of Lightning border.
  • A Kumogakure envoy showed Hiruzen Sarutobi photographs of Jiraiya dumping the bodies and demanded an explanation for the deaths, delay, and detour.
  • Jiraiya and the other Konoha mission participants gave matching accounts blaming Danzo’s severe beating and the envoys’ illness, prompting the envoy to ask for testimony from Bieshu Feifan and the other two.
  • Bieshu Feifan burst into the Hokage’s Office, clung to Hiruzen Sarutobi, and urged him to team up against the Kumogakure envoy, who struggled to question him.

Ch. 169The people the Kumogakure envoy faced

Bieshu Feifan, Might Duy, and Might Guy frustrated a Kumogakure envoy who sought an account of their mission, while Hiruzen Sarutobi enjoyed watching the envoy struggle. Later, Bieshu asked Jiraiya to teach him senjutsu, and Jiraiya agreed after receiving a box of coveted books.

  • Bieshu Feifan charged the Kumogakure envoy three million ryo for mission information, then left after making him buy paper and a pen.
  • Might Duy demanded three million ryo for his account, accepted the envoy's Chakra Metal knuckle blades instead, and rambled about food during the mission.
  • Might Guy refused to tell the envoy anything because he had no money, and the envoy left the Hokage's Office furious.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi worried that Jiraiya had disobeyed orders and that Konoha had offended Kumogakure, but Kumogakure made no response.
  • Bieshu Feifan visited Jiraiya to learn senjutsu, and Jiraiya agreed after opening the box of books Bieshu brought as a gift.

Ch. 170Hiruzen Sarutobi's Ingenious Use

Bieshu Feifan asked Jiraiya to teach him Senjutsu, but failed Jiraiya’s test of mental stillness and was left to practice on his own. He then began repeatedly examining Hiruzen Sarutobi’s nose wart, disrupting the Hokage’s work.

  • Jiraiya agreed to consider teaching Bieshu Feifan Senjutsu after checking his chakra and promised to keep his information secret.
  • Jiraiya sensed that Bieshu Feifan had chakra reserves greater than most Jōnin, but explained that Senjutsu also required an affinity for natural energy and a calm mind.
  • Bieshu Feifan failed to quiet his thoughts during Jiraiya’s test, so Jiraiya took the porn books and shut himself inside his house.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi celebrated the Shinobi World’s apparent peace, unaware that other villages had their own reasons for avoiding war.
  • Bieshu Feifan grabbed Hiruzen Sarutobi, studied the wart on his nose, and sat down to meditate; after Hiruzen moved to another room, Bieshu Feifan returned to inspect the wart again.

Ch. 171The stats had long since been stacked

Bieshu Feifan kept using Hiruzen Sarutobi’s face to meditate, leaving the Hokage exhausted, then challenged Minato Namikaze after learning he had mastered Flying Thunder God. Minato demonstrated the technique, but Bieshu Feifan’s superior physical strength let him pin Minato to the ground.

  • Bieshu Feifan repeatedly grabbed Hiruzen Sarutobi’s face and touched the growth on his nose to help himself meditate, while Hiruzen gradually stopped resisting.
  • Jiraiya spent his days absorbed in “Oniichichi” until Minato Namikaze came to say he had completed his Flying Thunder God training.
  • Bieshu Feifan reminded Jiraiya that he had promised to teach him Senjutsu, then agreed to spar with Minato Namikaze.
  • Bieshu Feifan attacked Minato with a kunai and a kick, overwhelming him with speed and strength.
  • Minato used Flying Thunder God to appear beside Bieshu Feifan, but Bieshu pinned him to the ground and declared that his stats beat Minato’s execution.

Ch. 172Unexpectedly Easy to Talk To

Bieshu Feifan defeated Minato Namikaze, proved he could meditate steadily, and earned Jiraiya’s approval to begin learning senjutsu. After bonding with Sage Fukasaku, he prepared for a possible trip to Mount Myōboku, while Minato asked if he was Hatake Kakanan.

  • Bieshu Feifan defeated Minato Namikaze in a spar and explained that he recognized Flying Thunder God, though Minato could not explain how he sensed space.
  • Jiraiya tested Bieshu Feifan’s ability to calm his mind and found his chakra remained steady even when leaves fell on him.
  • Bieshu Feifan signed the Summoning Contract, met Sage Fukasaku, and struck up an unusually friendly conversation with him.
  • Sage Fukasaku agreed to summon Bieshu Feifan to Mount Myōboku, and Jiraiya invited Minato Namikaze to learn senjutsu as well.
  • Bieshu Feifan left to prepare for the trip, and Minato Namikaze asked whether he was Hatake Kakanan; Bieshu Feifan gave no answer.

Ch. 173The beginning of training

Bieshu Feifan arrived at Mount Myōboku with Jiraiya and Minato Namikaze and began training to sense natural energy. Though he failed to detect it through ordinary practice, he used his innate ability to absorb natural energy and create senjutsu chakra, just as the Great Toad Sage requested to meet the newcomers.

  • Bieshu Feifan was summoned to Mount Myōboku with Jiraiya and Minato Namikaze, where he met Sage Fukasaku and Sage Shima.
  • Bieshu Feifan gave Sage Shima a snakeskin rope and joined the others for a meal of bugs, which he made more palatable by frying them.
  • Sage Fukasaku explained senjutsu training, and Bieshu Feifan and Minato Namikaze used toad oil to try sensing natural energy.
  • Bieshu Feifan failed to sense natural energy normally, then used his Innate Divine Ability to absorb it and form senjutsu chakra.
  • A toad arrived and told Sage Fukasaku that the Great Toad Sage wanted to meet the newly arrived cultivators.

Ch. 174The Child of Prophecy Was Pathetically Weak

Bieshu Feifan waited with Sage Fukasaku for the Great Toad Sage to wake, then met with him alone. When the Great Toad Sage tried to discuss his dream of the Child of Prophecy, Bieshu Feifan drowned him out with jokes and an elaborate made-up tale, leaving the sage speechless.

  • Bieshu Feifan and Sage Fukasaku waited for the Great Toad Sage to wake and passed the time playing cards.
  • The Great Toad Sage woke and struggled to remember Bieshu Feifan, who introduced himself with a string of confusing jokes.
  • After Sage Fukasaku left them alone, Bieshu Feifan climbed onto the Great Toad Sage and presented him with a black leather coat.
  • The Great Toad Sage said he had dreamed of the Child of Prophecy, but Bieshu Feifan interrupted and mocked the idea.
  • Bieshu Feifan spun a long, absurd tale and told the Great Toad Sage to use it when speaking to A Lai, leaving the sage unable to respond.

Ch. 175A young shinobi in despair

Bieshu Feifan trained at Mount Myōboku for months, while the Great Toad Sage warned Fukasaku that Bieshu Feifan seemed to exist beyond his ability to perceive. After returning to Konoha, Bieshu Feifan learned the Chunin Ninja Exams were approaching and met the teammate Hiruzen Sarutobi had chosen for him and Might Duy.

  • Bieshu Feifan left the Great Toad Sage’s temple after talking mostly by himself, and Fukasaku later heard the Great Toad Sage describe Bieshu Feifan as someone he could not truly feel or perceive.
  • Bieshu Feifan trained in senjutsu at Mount Myōboku, eventually sensing natural energy without toad oil after nearly three months.
  • Minato Namikaze and Jiraiya left Mount Myōboku before Bieshu Feifan, who departed after finally making progress with natural energy.
  • Bieshu Feifan returned to Konoha, where Might Duy reminded him about the Chunin Ninja Exams and took him to Hiruzen Sarutobi.
  • Hiruzen Sarutobi introduced Bieshu Feifan and Might Duy to their assigned teammate, who saw them, dropped to his knees, and tearfully protested that he was innocent.
