Appearance

  • Hair and complexion: Long brown hair, fair skin, bright eyes, and curved brows 62 197.
  • Build: Tall and slender, with an elegant bearing and long, straight legs 124 192.
  • Formal clothing: Wears carefully fitted dresses and light makeup at social engagements, including navy and pale-blue dresses 124 135.
  • Training clothing: Practices in a white warrior’s outfit with her hair tied into a ponytail 276.
  • Physical refinement: The Nirvana Pill noticeably improves her complexion and appearance. Five years later, she shows no visible signs of aging 276 590.

Personality

Phoebe initially presents a cold, proud, and guarded manner. That reserve softens once she trusts someone: Han Shuo comes to recognize that she is approachable and unpretentious toward those she accepts as friends. She also takes that trust seriously, promising to protect his undead-refinement secret even under threat of death 98.

Her business dealings are marked by composure, sharp judgment, and independence. She can maintain a courteous façade with enemies, bargain without revealing her intentions, and distinguish commercial relationships from personal obligations. She refuses Prince Haige’s preferential tariffs rather than encourage his unwanted courtship 63 194 590.

Phoebe is deeply attached to Han Shuo but strongly possessive. Sharing him conflicts with her expectations of a relationship, and the discovery of additional partners repeatedly provokes anger and distress. Her independence does not prevent emotional vulnerability: the prospect of separation causes her to faint, while their later argument over Lisa leaves her in tears 421 625.

Her acceptance of the other women develops unevenly. She forgives Emily after learning the circumstances of her relationship with Han Shuo, becomes close to Fanny during his absence, and eventually joins the others in welcoming Lolth into the household 395 625 1011.

Swordsmanship and Battle Aura

Phoebe studies under Carola Ascot and displays exceptional swordsmanship at a young age 63 277.

  • Great Swordmaster techniques: Produces silver cross-shaped attacks that shatter rocks and cut a tree into hundreds of sections 276.
  • Starry Sky: Wields the divine artifact to unleash a large Cross Slash against Crespo 412.

  • Supernatural vulnerability: Suffers bleeding under the Bloodwater Demons’ influence. Han Shuo removes her from the courtyard before she can be fatally harmed 195.

History

Struggle for Buster Trading Company

Phoebe comes from a wealthy family and receives an education in noble etiquette. By her early appearances, her father is dead and her uncle Glover controls much of Buster Trading Company through his supporters. After assassins attack her inside the company, she moves out and seeks the Elders’ backing to remove him 63 64.

Han Shuo’s intervention against Phantom Shadow begins their working relationship. Phoebe subsequently recruits him for an operation against Darnell and Yuna, who had previously attempted to assassinate her. Both are killed, but Phoebe and Han Shuo are exposed to an aphrodisiac during the operation. He carries her away and uses cold stream water to clear their heads; she awakens distressed by her torn clothing and attacks him 63 71 72 74.

Their next meeting begins with another argument but ends in reconciliation and a renewed alliance against Glover. At a company banquet, Phoebe introduces Han Shuo as her boyfriend to justify his presence. When the dispute over leadership becomes open, she declares herself capable of running the company 77 78 79.

Glover’s faction subjects her to escalating assassination attempts, leading her to hire protection from the Warfire Mercenary Group. Following Glover’s defeat and death, she officially takes control of Buster Trading Company 83 85 87 98.

Han Shuo’s Supplier and Partner

Phoebe becomes a trusted supplier for Han Shuo’s increasingly unusual projects. After witnessing Little Skeleton’s abilities, she learns that he uses a secret method to refine undead and agrees to gather thirteen materials for an extraordinary zombie. She later secures ingredients for Yin Demons and other refinements 98 139 173.

Their business relationship broadens into financial support. She agrees to exchange his gems and jade for gold and provide thirty thousand gold coins to establish the Soul Annihilation Mercenary Group. Later, she gives him rare materials and a Crystal Card containing three hundred thousand gold coins while remaining behind to strengthen Buster Trading Company 206 293.

Relationship with Han Shuo

Their public presentation as a couple precedes their acknowledged romantic relationship. During a nighttime encounter, Phoebe initially mistakes Han Shuo’s presence for a dream. After she awakens and confronts him, he forcibly kisses and restrains her despite her resistance; later in the encounter, she accepts his declaration that they are together 172.

In Sun Radiance Valley, Phoebe firmly rejects Florida’s pursuit and tells him that their commercial dealings give him no right to interfere in her personal life. She and Han Shuo later consummate their relationship. Phoebe explains that her feelings began around their assassination mission, when her anger gradually gave way to persistent thoughts of him 199 277.

Discovering his relationship with Emily leads Phoebe to confront her. After hearing Emily’s explanation, Phoebe forgives her and places the blame on Han Shuo. Accepting Fanny proves more difficult, but Phoebe ultimately chooses to remain with him rather than separate 389 390 395 421.

Attacks on the Company

Cameron attempts to draw Buster Trading Company into his Trade Alliance, but Phoebe refuses. His faction later encroaches on the business with Duke Ashiburn’s backing. When Han Shuo intervenes, she urges him to let Cameron and Aubrey leave to avoid provoking the duke 135 251.

During the struggle for the imperial succession, Ashburn’s soldiers and Charles’s experts overrun the company. Phoebe leads the surviving guards toward the rear gate but is captured by Aubrey and Crespo, who intend to use her as leverage against Carola. Han Shuo arrives, breaks her restraints, and enables her escape through an underground passage opened by the Earth Armor Zombie 412 413 414.

Five-Year Absence and Reunion

During Han Shuo’s five-year absence, Phoebe advances to Sword Saint and continues managing Buster Trading Company. She remains devoted to him despite rumors of his death, rejecting Prince Haige’s courtship and favorable trade terms. Emily’s letter announcing his return transforms her grief into excitement 590 592.

The absence also brings Phoebe, Emily, and Fanny closer through their shared memories of Han Shuo. Nevertheless, his acknowledgment of Lisa as another partner triggers a fresh confrontation. Han Shuo leaves with Lisa after telling Phoebe to leave if she cannot accept him; he later apologizes and comforts her 625 638.

Celestial Pivot Pharmacy and the Han Family

On the Continent of the Gods, Han Shuo assigns Phoebe and Emily to help run Celestial Pivot Pharmacy. Phoebe’s management experience quickly proves valuable, and she advances to Lower God during the following seven years 737 738 748.

She later takes an active leadership role during the Han Family’s withdrawal from Shadow City, rejecting Ralph’s demand that they return and directing the guards against his ambush. After regrouping in Ethereal City, she learns from Han Shuo that their pursuing enemies are dead and that the family will relocate to the Chaos Lands 883 918.

At Demon-Hidden Valley, Phoebe and the other women reveal that Han Shuo has postponed having children until the dangers surrounding them have passed. She later joins Emily and the others in persuading Lolth not to leave the valley 962 1011.
