Background

The Original Shen Yunzhi

The body Shen Yunzhi inhabits belongs to the Jiang Family’s long-lost biological daughter, who was switched with Jiang Yunli and raised in impoverished Caoli County. She spent fifteen years in the village before entering the Jiang household. Her adoptive parents, Shen Yonggui and Wang Dezhen, abused her severely enough that village officials intervened to prevent them from beating her to death 15 42.

Returning to wealth did not bring her the acceptance she expected. Jiang Zhen and Xie Mingzhen compared her unfavorably with Jiang Yunli, imposed deportment lessons, and treated her rural upbringing as an embarrassment. Jiang Yunli’s established social circle excluded her, while her engagement to Ji Nanxian became another source of humiliation 10 28 57.

Despite later rumors that she was uneducated and despised the poor, the original Shen Yunzhi was an outstanding student who tutored Yunya. She also quietly funded village improvements through the village chief; her contributions over several years totaled nearly ¥1 million 31 32 39.

Transmigration

Before entering the novel, the current Shen Yunzhi was an ordinary office worker who worried about rent, worked overtime, and had held part-time jobs since her teens. After her death, a system offered her another chance at life and brought her into the novel as its unwanted supporting character 15 37 46 146.

The original owner moved to an apocalyptic world under the name Shen Youzhi. Feeling guilty about leaving Shen Yunzhi with difficult missions, she agreed to do extra work and share her points. This initially allowed Shen Yunzhi considerable freedom in the novel world 48 157 158.

Appearance

Shen Yunzhi’s beauty is repeatedly acknowledged even by people familiar with her poor reputation; An Zhizhi considers her looks exceptional even by entertainment-industry standards 35 64.

  • Facial features: Fine, recognizable features are visible even in an old, weathered school photograph 32.
  • Scars: Burn and whip scars remain from the original owner’s childhood abuse, including scars on her hands 42 57.
  • Everyday clothing: Favors comfort over presentation, including nightgowns, down jackets, and thick padded trousers 67.
  • Formal styling: Wears an aqua-blue evening gown with a pearl hair accessory borrowed through An Zhizhi 67.
  • Historical-show costume: Appears in layered skirts, a sky-blue wide-sleeved robe, and an elaborate updo with dangling hair ornaments 88.

Personality

Shen Yunzhi is outspoken, irreverent, and willing to answer insults with either absurd jokes or physical retaliation. Rather than defending a polished public image, she openly mocks critics, antagonizes powerful people, and makes herself ridiculous. This sharply contrasts with the original owner’s sensitivity to criticism and desperate pursuit of Ji Nanxian 2 4 8.

She prioritizes comfort and financial security but has limits she will not sell. Although she once imagined accepting money to marry a wealthy family’s useless son, she rejects Zheng Xiulan’s attempt to preserve the engagement with a promised ¥2 million monthly allowance 2 81.

Her apparent shamelessness coexists with emotional blind spots. She misses An Zhizhi’s attempts to become friends and repeatedly interprets Xiao Yao’s interest as ordinary companionship or a malfunctioning affection display. Nevertheless, she takes friendship seriously and explains that her desire to help Xiao Yao is not solely mission-driven 34 35 83 95.

She is also frightened of pain and skeptical of benefits offered without explanation. Her suspicion of the system’s motives predates its more coercive romance missions 37 54.

Abilities & Skills

Verbal Sparring and Public Confrontation

Shen Yunzhi combines quick reasoning with deliberately outrageous language, undermining accusations without accepting her opponents’ framing 19.

  • Exposes Ji Nanxian and Jiang Yunli’s affair before banquet guests, then uploads footage herself 1.
  • Challenges the business interests underlying her engagement rather than treating Ji Nanxian’s approval as a prize 7.
  • Uses nonsense replies and crude humor against online harassment, helping attract a dedicated following 2 8 9.

Practical Skills

Her experience of poverty and teenage part-time work gives her a range of everyday skills rather than a pampered heiress’s upbringing 15.

  • Cooks dinner for Xiao Yao and later prepares food for the other guests 15 117.
  • Recognizes Chi Zong’s supposed knife skills as inadequate when he attempts to julienne potatoes 117.
  • The original owner’s academic achievements are separately documented by her school’s outstanding-student display; they are not evidence that the transmigrator earned those results herself 31 32.

Improvised Fighting

Shen Yunzhi relies on aggression, surprise, and available objects rather than a documented martial-arts discipline 4 21 63.

  • Gives Xiao Yao a black eye with a punch and kicks Ji Nanxian during an unwanted late-night confrontation 4 11.
  • Uses a baseball bat during her pursuit of Ji Nanxian through the villa 21.
  • Throws bags of feces at armed kidnappers, disrupting them long enough for reinforcements to arrive 62.
  • Tackles Xiao Yao out of a sniper’s line of fire and strikes an armed henchman with a construction rod 63.
  • Limits: Cannot set her own dislocated ankle, climb out of the ravine while injured, or escape tightly tied ropes unaided 48 99 100.

System Assistance and Plot Knowledge

Her advantages come from an external system and knowledge of the original novel, not a cultivation or leveling system 37 48 59.

  • Character information: The system supplies names and background details and can report distant developments 31 37.
  • Pain suppression: Temporarily blocks pain from her injured ankle for half an hour; the pain returns when the effect expires 48 49.
  • Monitoring: Displays Xiao Yao’s affection, corruption status, and danger warnings 49 64 83 104.
  • Foreknowledge: Helps her identify the banquet trap and prevent the gunshot that originally ruined Xiao Yao’s leg 59 63.
  • Coercion: The Smart Assistant automatically accepts a romance mission and later uses an electric shock to force her cooperation 49 54.
  • Offered buffs: The system says it can provide sharpshooter or bomb-disposal buffs, but the passage does not establish that she uses either 141.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Joining *All Villains*

On her birthday, Shen Yunzhi catches Ji Nanxian with Jiang Yunli, exposes them before the guests, and uploads the confrontation. She then accepts an invitation to All Villains, departing from the original owner’s decision to refuse the show 1.

Her confrontational appearances quickly challenge her reputation as Ji Nanxian’s devoted admirer. She deletes his contact, rejects his demands, and insists that his father end their engagement. Her quarrels with Xiao Yao become a recurring attraction for viewers 5 8 10 21.

Returning to Caoli County

The show’s village filming brings Shen Yunzhi back among people who knew the original owner. Yunya’s affection, the school’s record of her achievements, and villagers’ accounts of her donations contradict the stories circulating online 31 32 35 39.

When her adoptive parents demand money, villagers defend her and expose the support she has already provided. Shen Yunzhi subsequently reveals her abuse scars and refuses to finance the people responsible for them, turning public opinion against the couple and those exploiting her suffering 39 42.

During a later outing, she falls into a ravine and dislocates her ankle. Xiao Yao treats her injuries and carries her to a ranger’s cabin, where the system’s affection monitoring triggers a mission to win him over 48 49.

Saving Xiao Yao and Ending the Engagement

Shen Yunzhi learns that a Ji Family birthday banquet precedes a trap that would destroy Xiao Yao’s leg and contribute to his descent into darkness. She follows him, disrupts the kidnappers, and pushes him clear of the sniper’s shot 59 62 63.

A delayed mission prompt leads her to slap Xiao Yao twice instead of using the suggested hugs or kisses. The intervention stabilizes his corruption level, although the two immediately argue over her rescue attempt 63 64.

Back at the banquet, she works with Jiang Chi against Jiang Yunli’s deception and publicly announces her intention to break the engagement just as the Ji Family affirms her as its future daughter-in-law. The engagement is subsequently broken off 73 74 75.

Public Vindication

The exposure of Jiang Yunli’s stolen university admission leads the university to offer Shen Yunzhi a return to study without retaking the entrance examination. Jiang Zhen severs ties with Jiang Yunli and declares Shen Yunzhi the family’s only daughter, but Shen Yunzhi ignores his invitation to return home 83.

Her growing entertainment profile culminates in an internet personality award at the Annual Starlight Gala. There, she discovers the large “Shen Xiao” fan community pairing her with Xiao Yao; the director also publicizes the contrast between her boastful backstage remarks and modest acceptance speech 114.

Relationship with Xiao Yao

Shen Yunzhi gradually distinguishes her genuine concern for Xiao Yao from the system’s objectives. She describes him as one of the few people she can really talk to and continues looking after him during crises 95 104 109.

She eventually tells him that she transmigrated into a book, but he treats the confession as an entertaining story premise. Their later life includes a temple visit, a red bracelet she gives him, and her brief employment as his secretary 146 152.

By the final main-story chapter, they openly discuss dating and marriage. Shen Yunzhi admits she had not originally planned to date him but gave him a chance because he was a good person, then promises that she will not run away 156.

  • She scores a hole in one despite displaying poor golf technique; the narration attributes the result to luck 125.
  • Her Honor of Kings account falls from Diamond to Platinum during group play. Xiao Yao then plays overnight and raises it to King—this is a game-account achievement, not her personal power progression 132.
