History

Blood Moon Calamity

Tang Rou originally worked as a doctor and continued saving lives after becoming a Transcendent. During the Blood Moon Calamity, she served in the rear support units, healing and encouraging the defenders. She believed humanity would produce heroes capable of resisting the disaster and wanted to become one herself 83 86 103.

A Calamity Demon General targeted her because of her contribution to the defensive line. Chen Nian intercepted its attack, saving her. She subsequently used Source of Life to restore his injuries and fatigue, witnessing his strength as Buyu firsthand and resolving to become more useful to him 86 87 89 90.

Joining Mountains and Rivers in Lasting Peace

Traveling to Lu City to seek admission to Mountains and Rivers in Lasting Peace, Tang Rou encountered Chen Nian without initially recognizing him as Buyu. After she treated an elderly passenger’s heart attack, Wei Chen approached her with a fraudulent guild referral. Her eagerness to fight alongside Buyu led her to trust his business card despite Chen Nian’s warning 103 104.

Wei Chen instead brought her to Moon Capture, where Wan Jiahao intended to exploit her sexually to strengthen his talent. Wei Chen had drugged her coffee and used his ability against her; Chen Nian killed him, allowing her to regain her senses 105.

When the Wantong Group later demanded that Tang Rou be handed over, Chen Nian formally welcomed her into his guild and warned them against touching her. She quickly settled into the guild’s informal, egalitarian atmosphere 109 110.

Guild Healer and Divine Awakening

Tang Rou accompanied Ning Ziqing to Chen Nian’s home and accepted an invitation to travel to the capital. During the tournament disturbance, she fled with Ning Ziqing from an out-of-control telekinetic and embraced her protectively when escape became impossible 146 149.

She and Lu Ge later received the Desolate Beast core Chen Nian brought back, completing the materials needed for the guild’s level-two base upgrade. Following the Black Calamity campaign, Tang Rou treated Zhao Yixue and asked Chen Nian for a Divinity so she could contribute more effectively 157 215.

Chen Nian fulfilled that promise while visiting her mother in hospital. After awakening Gou Mang, Tang Rou immediately demonstrated her stronger healing by saving a critically ill young woman with a severe congenital heart condition 220.

God-Demon Capital and Overseas Missions

In God-Demon Capital, Tang Rou stayed behind against Jorōgumo, Hone-onna, and Ubume so Shangze Sakura and Zi Nan could escape. She launched Sakura onto the Undead Bone Dragon with vines, then sealed herself inside Tree Prison. Unable to break through, the monsters carried her to Nurarihyon, who cut apart the prison before Chen Nian intervened 304 307.

Her overseas duties also included delivering advanced technological products to the Dragon Country Academy of Sciences. During the attack on Dragon Country’s plane over the Pacific, she and Bi Shuang protected the other passengers, and Tang Rou treated the survivors’ injuries before the International Transcendent Competition 391 400.

Chen Nian subsequently recruited her for a journey to the Heavenly Vault Realm. In Undead Valley, she defended the party against a monster tide before the Spring of Life dragged her underwater. Her Divinity briefly resisted its control, giving Chen Nian an opening to rescue her and remove the water from her body 411 455 456.

World Tree Academy and the Memory Crisis

After a prolonged separation, Tang Rou confronted Chen Nian over treating her like an employee he could call upon and then leave behind. He offered to seek admission for her to World Tree Academy, explaining that her limited solo combat ability made the normal assessment difficult. She later entered the academy’s medical department on the dean’s recommendation 570 579.

When Chen Nian entered the cracks between worlds to retrieve Rika, Tang Rou initially forgot him. With Big Rika’s notes, she began contacting his companions and restoring their memories. Her efforts helped mobilize the collective will that empowered the World Tree’s seed, allowing Chen Nian and Rika to escape 583 584.

Calamity Tree Rescue

At the academy, deputy medical department head Cai Ming confessed his feelings to Tang Rou. Her immediate inclination was to refuse because she already liked Chen Nian 674.

Tang Rou was later held alive at the Calamity Tree’s roots, impaled on a branch to nourish it. Chen Nian infiltrated the stronghold, killed her two Demon God guards, freed her, and healed her injuries. They confessed their feelings, and Tang Rou kissed him. When an Early Tier Seven Origin Demon God attacked, Chen Nian placed her inside the Chaos Light-Devouring Beast’s independent space 687.

She returned with Chen Nian afterward. During his subsequent qi-refining training under Merlin, she helped him recover from his injuries 689 692.

Appearance

Tang Rou has long black hair and a curvy figure with a little softness. Her eyes acquire a green tint after she awakens Gou Mang’s Divinity 83 220 345.

  • Build: Described as remaining shapely despite her large appetite 345 411.
  • Weight: Admits to weighing 47.6 kilograms when Chen Nian frightens her with a fake identity test 444.
  • Casual clothing: Wears white T-shirts and denim shorts; sometimes ties her hair into a ponytail 497 570.
  • Work clothing: Wears a white coat at the academy’s medical department 674.

Personality

Tang Rou is outgoing, gentle, and committed to helping others. Her ambition is to protect her home and country and support heroes, rather than seek status as someone’s ornament. Even when threatened during the Blood Moon Calamity, she remains composed and holds to her belief that humanity can resist 83 86 103 105.

Her everyday manner is much more playful. She enjoys food, sleeping in, watching dramas, and bargaining for rewards when Chen Nian gives her chores. She trades increasingly bold jokes with him, complains about overtime, and enthusiastically reverses her objections when offered equipment or a holiday home 260 263 371 400 411.

She is deeply afraid of ghosts and frightening monsters, but that fear does not stop her from protecting companions. Her decision to remain behind in God-Demon Capital contrasts with her panicked attempts to convince the monsters that she would taste terrible 304 307.

Although she repeatedly claims that food matters more than romance, prolonged separation reveals how much she values being needed by Chen Nian. She dislikes feeling interchangeable with his other acquaintances or being treated as someone available only when there is work 480 570 687.
