The dazzling golden light slowly receded.
What appeared on the screen was neither a special potion nor some unusual skill.
It was a pair of eyeballs.
"Holy shit, what's this?" Li Ang jumped. He had drawn a pair of eyeballs in the lottery. Was he supposed to roll them around in his hands?
[Eye of Miskatonic ×1]
"What Eye of Miska Uska? What's it for?" Looking puzzled, Li Ang opened the description and read a couple of lines. His confusion immediately turned to delight!
[This eye is not a product of Earth, but comes from a higher-dimensional civilization that vanished long ago.] [It was once stripped from the remains of a Great Old Ones by a nameless wizard, who applied complex sealing formulas so that a mortal body could bear it.]
He knew nothing about the rest, but he had heard the name Great Old Ones.
Cthulhu!
"So, what does this thing do?" After accepting the item, Li Ang distinctly felt something extra in his eyes, though he could not put it into words.
[True Vision: Allows direct sight of magical barriers, energy flow paths, spatial rifts, and dimensional boundaries, as well as the soul auras of living beings. [Conceptual Anchoring: Grants immunity to or greatly reduces reality rewriting, causality distortion, dimensional banishment, and rule-based contractual traps, such as the Snap with the Infinity Stones, Mephisto's word traps, and time-reversal targeting.] [Echo of Fear: When making eye contact with a target, allows the user to impose the cosmic-level pressure of the Great Old Ones on their mind. Those with weak minds suffer immediate mental collapse. Effects are doubled against demons and dimensional beings.]
"Whoa!" Li Ang sucked in a sharp breath!
This was terrifying. It really lived up to being a golden legendary from the grand prize!
If all he had before were raw stats, now he had mechanics of his own!
With this and the Magic Resistance Cloak, damage from magic could be considered negligible. As for Conceptual Anchoring, Li Ang would have to study it carefully.
After a brief examination, Li Ang reached a conclusion.
Now that he had the Eye of Miskatonic, the Reality Stone could not alter him, the laws of causality could do nothing to him, and the Time Stone could not target him!
With this mechanic, he could now take on Thanos one-on-one!
The thought excited Li Ang.
As for the Battle of New York, Li Ang absolutely could not miss it. But with the Bifrost smashed apart, he could only remain in Asgard for now.
Li Ang could be patient, and he knew repairing the Bifrost was difficult.
During this time, he began picking up the magic he had learned before. He wanted to master portal magic and see if he could open a portal straight to Earth.
The principle behind portal magic was actually that of a wormhole: folding space with tremendous power to open a direct passage between two points.
It sounded simple, but doing it was anything but.
And so, a new sight appeared in Asgard. Every day, Li Ang wore his Sling Ring and cast all sorts of magic into the air.
On the very first day, Li Ang opened a portal!
One day! If word got out, it would make those sorcerers' jaws drop.
It seemed the changes the Magic Divine Tree had made inside his body had taken Li Ang's sensitivity to magic up another notch. On top of that, the Eye of Miskatonic allowed him to see the flow of magic clearly.
His control over magic had risen an entire level!
Li Ang tried opening a portal back to Earth. Unfortunately, he failed.
It was too far away. Li Ang's current reserves of magical power were not enough to open a portal across galaxies.
Just like that, another three months and more passed.
For those three months, Li Ang flew around Asgard and took pictures every day, until his phone ran out of power and shut down.
There was nowhere to charge it in Asgard. He could hardly ask the God of Thunder to charge it with lightning. Wouldn't that blow it up instantly?
As it happened, the Asgardian Warriors were training, so Li Ang simply joined them to learn combat techniques. Of course, he held back his strength.
Not only that, but over those three months, the Magic Divine Tree inside Li Ang grew rapidly because he was staying in Asgard, where magical energy was pure!
He had now successfully opened a portal to Earth!
When he told Thor the news, Thor was as happy as a goofy deer. He decided that he absolutely had to find his younger brother.
Although he already knew the truth, it did not affect his feelings for Loki.
"I'll go find Heimdall right now and ask him to help." As he spoke, he made to drag Li Ang along to find him.
But when they found Heimdall, he said helplessly, "I can't find him. He was swept into spatial turbulence."
With no other option, Thor decided to stay and learn how to become a king.
"Don't worry, my friend. Asgard will always welcome you!"
When it was time to leave, Li Ang picked an item from the treasury to take with him.
From the dazzling array of treasures, Li Ang ultimately chose a huge chunk of Uru metal. At a rough estimate, it was about as big as the front end of an SUV.
This metal was extremely powerful and could only be forged into shape at stellar temperatures. Li Ang wanted to bring it back for Tony to try working with.
If possible, he needed some protective gear too.
After all, this material conducted magic very well, making it a perfect match for his magical constitution.
A Superman who could use magic-who could stand up to that?
When he opened the portal and said his goodbyes, Thor and the Warriors Four each gave him a big hug. When it was Sif's turn, she seemed rather bashful.
"What's wrong, Sif?" Thor even asked, completely failing to notice that the tips of her ears had turned red.
With a huge chunk of Uru metal on his back, Li Ang waved his arm and opened a portal to his manor. It was daytime on the other side.
After saying goodbye to everyone, Li Ang stepped through.
The manor was deserted at that moment...
Li Ang frowned. After setting the Uru metal down in the garden, he looked around. Silence-an unnatural silence.
Normally, this was when the gardeners pruned the plants and the maids cleaned. It could not possibly be this quiet!
But where was Bella?
Li Ang floated into the air and discovered that the maids were all near the front entrance. After he flew over and landed, none of them so much as glanced at him!
"Something's not right." Li Ang narrowed his eyes, a vicious gleam flashing within them.
He keenly detected a different scent in the air.
"Looks like a little rat has snuck into the manor." Blue light shone in Li Ang's eyes, with what seemed like galaxies swirling within them.
With the Eye of Miskatonic, he no longer needed X-Ray Vision.
He scanned the entire manor and discovered a pale purple gas permeating the grounds. Following it with his gaze, he found that the gas came from the villa within the manor.
Most people were in the main hall, but Bella alone was nowhere to be seen.
Li Ang walked toward the villa and pushed open the door. He saw someone sitting in the main hall, dressed in an exquisitely tailored purple suit and enjoying the maids' attentive service.
"You're finally back!"
At the sight of Li Ang entering, a covetous gleam flashed through the seated man's eyes.
He looked Li Ang up and down, then commanded, "Kneel!"
