Background / History
Exile and the Attempt to Reclaim Mjolnir
Thor’s warmongering helps spark conflict between Asgard and Jotunheim. Exiled for his impulsiveness and arrogance, he initially fails to understand Odin’s intentions and remains fixated on reclaiming Mjolnir as proof of his identity and honor 41 42 43.
He infiltrates the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility surrounding the hammer in New Mexico, defeating several guards. Li Ang intercepts him, attacks with Heat Vision, and has the facility’s lights shut off. Recognizing that he cannot defeat Li Ang without his divine power, Thor retreats through the buildings toward Mjolnir 41.
When the hammer refuses to move, Thor collapses into self-doubt. Li Ang offers him a supposed test of noble character: breaking a stone that is actually the Tiger Talisman. The act divides Thor into good and evil counterparts 42.
Good Thor and Evil Thor
Good Thor defends Li Ang from his hostile counterpart, prompting Mjolnir to respond. He lifts the hammer, and divine lightning restores power to both halves. Mephisto immediately abducts Evil Thor and offers to help him absorb and suppress his good side in exchange for a future favor 42 43.
Good Thor returns to Jane, fearing that his evil counterpart will seek her out. He also breaks down over Loki’s claim that Odin has died because of his actions. Sif and the Warriors Three arrive and reveal that Odin is merely sleeping 43.
Loki then sends the Destroyer to kill Thor. With only half his divine power, Good Thor cannot overpower it; Li Ang intervenes and disables the armor. Evil Thor emerges through a magic circle, attacks Thor’s companions, and clashes with Good Thor after the latter intercepts his lightning 44.
During their fight, Evil Thor begins draining strength from Good Thor. Li Ang stops them, beats Evil Thor into submission, and reunites the talisman’s halves. Restored to one body, Thor remembers both perspectives and understands that his power should serve Asgard and his friends rather than his own pride 45.
Return to Asgard
Thor returns through the Bifrost with Li Ang after kissing Jane goodbye. Warned by Heimdall that Odin is in danger, he rushes to the palace and fights Laufey, who has absorbed the Casket of Ancient Winters. Li Ang takes over that battle so Thor can pursue Loki 45 46.
Thor subdues Loki and moves to smash the Bifrost. In the aftermath, Odin awakens, kills Laufey, and acknowledges Li Ang’s assistance both in Asgard and on Earth 46 47.
Three months later, Thor hopes Li Ang’s newly developed portal magic will help him find Loki. Despite knowing the truth about his brother’s actions, his affection remains unchanged. When Heimdall cannot locate Loki, who has been swept into spatial turbulence, Thor stays in Asgard to learn how to become a king 48.
Appearance
- Build: Burly and nearly two meters tall 41 43.
- Hair and facial hair: Long blond hair and a full beard 41.
- Armor: His empowered evil half appears in armor after being taken to Mephisto’s realm 43.
Personality
Initially proud, impulsive, and eager for battle, Thor treats Mjolnir as inseparable from his honor. He remains ready to fight Li Ang despite being outmatched, but also has enough battlefield judgment to retreat when confronting a flying opponent without divine power 41 42.
The Tiger Talisman exaggerates his opposing traits. Good Thor is trusting, protective, and reluctant to fight; he defends Li Ang, worries about Jane, and is overwhelmed by guilt over Odin’s supposed death. Evil Thor is contemptuous of humans, obsessed with his claim to kingship, and willing to attack his own companions when they refuse him 42 43 44.
After reunification, Thor acknowledges his immaturity and recognizes the responsibility attached to his power. His loyalty remains deeply personal: he thanks Li Ang despite remembering the beating inflicted on his evil half, and continues wanting to find Loki despite his betrayal 45 48.
Abilities & Skills
Asgardian Physiology and Combat Experience
Thor remains a formidable close-range fighter even while his divine power is sealed 41.
- Retains a physique stronger than an ordinary human’s and roughly a thousand years of combat experience 41.
- Defeats multiple S.H.I.E.L.D. guards and reacts quickly enough to evade Li Ang’s initial Heat Vision attack 41.
- Is still susceptible to a stun baton while depowered 41.
Divine Lightning
His restored power allows him to generate and direct lightning 42 44.
- Channels electrical attacks through Mjolnir 44.
- Evil Thor generates lightning directly in his palm 44.
- Good Thor absorbs an incoming lightning attack into Mjolnir to protect Sif and the Warriors Three 44.
- Splitting his divine power leaves Good Thor unable to overcome the Destroyer 44.
Hammer-Assisted Flight
Thor swings Mjolnir and uses its momentum to launch himself into flight 43 45 46.
- Uses this method to leave the S.H.I.E.L.D. facility, engage Evil Thor, and reach Asgard’s palace 43 44 45.
Heat Resistance
- With the Power of Thor restored, Evil Thor barely feels the scorching heat of Mephisto’s fiery realm 43.
