| Occupation/Role | Dean of studies; also addressed as Director Du 5 14 |
| Cultivation | Eight-ring Soul Master 14 |

Appearance
Du Weilun is a middle-aged man who wears glasses. He adjusts them while reprimanding Zhou Yi after stopping her attack on Li Mu 5 15.
Personality
Du Weilun balances disciplinary authority with political caution. Although he initially warns Li Mu that attempted murder is a capital crime, he reduces the punishment after recognizing signs of unusual talent. He also knows about Zhou Yi’s prejudice against Auxiliary System students but is reluctant to pursue her dismissal because of her connections to Fan Yu 5 6 15.
His concern for student safety coexists with a strong investment in Shrek Academy’s reputation. He rushes to obtain emergency treatment for Zhou Yi’s injured students, yet also worries about the scandal their injuries could create. His deference to Yan Shaozhe directly affects his treatment of Li Mu: he becomes markedly courteous after the dean expresses interest in the boy, but later helps enforce an arrangement intended to make Li Mu seek the dean’s favor 14 17 34 40.
Abilities & Skills
Soul Power and Combat
Du Weilun manifests eight Soul Rings when responding to the classroom emergency 14.
- Soul Power suppression: Disperses Zhou Yi’s fire dragon with a sweep of his hand and a large release of Soul Power 15.
- Rapid response: Intercepts her attack before it reaches Li Mu, although her sudden attempt initially catches him off guard 15.
- Golden radiance: His body becomes enveloped in a dazzling golden sheen during the intervention; the technique is not named 15.
Administration and Assessment
Du Weilun oversees disciplinary cases and core disciple announcements within the Martial Soul Department 6 35 39.
- Student discipline: Issues major demerits, removes core disciple eligibility, and requires compensation for injuries 6 35.
- Teacher discipline: Can punish teachers, but cannot dismiss one outright; he refers Zhou Yi’s case to Yan Shaozhe 15.
- Talent assessment: Deduces that Li Mu possesses twin Martial Souls and investigates the discrepancy between his registered support-type abilities and his actual combat performance 6 14.
- Emergency coordination: Summons the Tree of Life Martial Soul healer to treat injured students 14.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Dai Huabin’s Near-Fatal Injury
Du Weilun arrives after Li Mu nearly kills Dai Huabin outside their dormitory. He identifies himself as dean of studies, questions whether Li Mu intended to kill his fellow student, and warns him of Shrek Academy’s capital punishment rule 5.
After consulting the student list, he notes that the supposedly one-ring support-type Soul Master has severely injured Dai Huabin. Suspecting twin Martial Souls and an explanation for Li Mu’s unusually low cultivation, he gives him a major demerit and strips him of core disciple eligibility for the semester rather than expelling him 6.
Zhou Yi’s Classroom Incident
Mu Jin contacts Du Weilun after Zhou Yi seriously injures several students. News that Zhou Yi has also suffered an ice-attribute attack raises the possibility of an unidentified expert inside the academy. Du Weilun immediately heads to the classroom and calls for emergency healing 14.
He recognizes Li Mu and recalls his investigation into the boy’s dragon-like Martial Souls and powerful water and ice attributes. Suspecting deeper secrets, he refrains from immediately reprimanding him. When Zhou Yi launches another fire dragon at Li Mu, Du Weilun disperses it, slaps her to the ground, and condemns her for attacking students 14 15.
After hearing the students describe Zhou Yi’s insults, wager, and subsequent violence, he takes both her and Li Mu to Yan Shaozhe. He also intends to report Li Mu’s exceptional cold power to the dean 15.
Dismissal Announcement and Departmental Dispute
Following Yan Shaozhe’s decision, Du Weilun escorts Li Mu back to class and announces Zhou Yi’s expulsion. His manner toward Li Mu becomes notably courteous after Yan Shaozhe instructs him to pay special attention to the student 16 17.
He later summons Li Mu to another leadership meeting and informs him that Dai Huabin has requested a dormitory transfer. They arrive as Xian Lin’er challenges Zhou Yi’s dismissal. The dispute ultimately ends with Zhou Yi’s expulsion canceled and her transfer to the Soul Tool Department 18 19.
Xu Sanshi and Jiang Nannan’s Injuries
Du Weilun and Zhou Yi wait outside Li Mu’s room to question him about injuring Xu Sanshi and Jiang Nannan. Li Mu objects to Zhou Yi’s involvement because she now belongs to another department 34.
Du Weilun upholds the Martial Soul Department’s jurisdiction and dismisses her involvement. After Li Mu displays Ultimate Ice, he refrains from further criticism and requires only a few thousand Gold Soul Coins in compensation. He warns that Li Mu must handle any personal retaliation himself 35.
Core Disciple Selection and Withdrawal
Du Weilun announces the freshman core disciple list without Li Mu’s name despite his first-place results. The earlier disciplinary restriction remains in effect, but the exclusion also serves Yan Shaozhe’s plan to make Li Mu ask for status and resources, bringing him under the dean’s influence and securing his assistance for Ma Xiaotao 39 40.
Li Mu instead throws down his uniform and requests withdrawal; Wang Dong follows him. Du Weilun’s surprise turns to coldness and murderous intent, but Li Mu’s lack of core disciple status leaves his withdrawal request reasonable 39 40.
When the pair enter his office, Du Weilun offers to reconsider core disciple status at a later opportunity. Li Mu rejects the delay and demands his paperwork, predicting that Shrek will describe his departure as an expulsion. The provided account does not show Du Weilun issuing the documents 40.
Relationships
- Yan Shaozhe — Immediate superior and dean of the Martial Soul Department. Du Weilun follows his direction on Li Mu’s treatment and refers cases beyond his authority to him 15 17 34.
- Li Mu — Student whose disciplinary cases he repeatedly handles. His attitude shifts between suspicion, courtesy, leniency, and hostility as Li Mu’s value and resistance to academy authority become apparent 6 14 17 35 40.
- Zhou Yi — Former subordinate. He intervenes against her violence but later maintains a polite departmental boundary after her transfer 15 35.
- Mu Jin — Teacher who alerts him to the classroom emergency and assists in stabilizing the injured students before his arrival 14.
