After thirty arena victories, he accepts his father's requirement to qualify as a Class 1 Soul Engineer before traveling alone. A year of study culminates in his first engraved cannon and certification; Xu Haoyang then equips him with defensive, flight, weapon, and storage tools 13 15.

During his travels, Soul Tools serve as survival equipment rather than replacing his spear cultivation. Flight saves him from a ten-thousand-year Ice Dragon, the Flame Spear helps defeat the White-Eyed Devil Tiger, and a flying tool enables his escape from the Three-Eyed Golden Lion 18 21 50.
