Background / History

Raising Spirit Hall’s Successor

Qian Daoliu oversaw his six-year-old son Qian Xunji’s Martial Soul awakening. Upon seeing the Six-Winged Angel, he declared that Xunji would become Spirit Hall’s next Supreme Pontiff. He greeted his son’s ambition to end poverty and strife with affectionate amusement, remarking that such a task would be harder than becoming a god 3.

He actively supported Xunji’s cultivation, assigning Yue Guan and Gui Mei to protect him during an early Soul Ring hunt and later dispatching Titled Douluos to secure an Angel Unicorn. Alongside Golden Crocodile Douluo and others, he helped Xunji withstand the Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring’s power 3 9 15.

Qian Daoliu also recognized his son’s scholarly achievements. He praised the Martial Soul Limit Absorption Table and General Outline of Martial Soul Mimicry, then approved their distribution through Spirit Hall’s subordinate and branch halls 8.

Protecting the Family’s Future

After learning about Xunji’s Holy Flame Clone, Qian Daoliu ordered him to reveal its capabilities to no one else, recognizing its value as a concealed lifesaving technique. He also encouraged Xunji to consider marriage and produce an heir, explaining that the Qian family had maintained only one heir per generation 20.

When the rescued Bibi Dong was found to possess twin Martial Souls and innate full Soul Power, Qian Daoliu viewed her as a future Peerless Douluo and a safeguard for Spirit Hall’s future. He arranged for Xunji to teach her, privately intending to accept her himself if his son refused; he wanted her instruction kept within his family 26.

Conflict over Ah Yin

Qian Daoliu initially accepted Xunji’s explanation that Ah Yin was being kept for her Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Ring, to be absorbed upon advancing to Titled Douluo. His attitude changed when a subordinate reported that Xunji was publicly behaving like her lover. He struck the messenger with Soul Power and classified the matter as a top-level secret 23 27.

Arguing that a relationship between Spirit Hall’s Pope and a Soul Beast would destroy the institution’s standing, he offered the Angel Soul Bone Set and his own refined Soul Power to help Xunji reach level 90 immediately. He demanded that Xunji then kill Ah Yin and absorb her ring 27.

When Xunji refused, Qian Daoliu went to kill Ah Yin himself. Xunji attacked him, rescued her, and fled, leading to a battle above a deserted forest. Although Qian Daoliu overpowered his son, Xunji’s strength and willingness to die protecting her moved him to compromise: Ah Yin could live, provided the pair never met again 28.

After her departure, Qian Daoliu worried that Xunji might no longer qualify for the divine trials. Their relationship remained deeply estranged, but he maintained that he would make the same choice again for the angel lineage and Spirit Hall 29 30.

Response to the Crimson Mother

When Xunji discovered that evil power remained dormant inside Bibi Dong, Qian Daoliu recognized the Crimson Mother’s followers as a major threat. He ordered every Spirit Hall subsidiary and branch hall to pursue the organization and demanded assistance from the two great empires. The empires did not join the sustained suppression effort 30 31.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is openly affectionate and proud when Xunji’s achievements benefit Spirit Hall. He laughs warmly at his son’s childhood ambitions, praises his research, and celebrates the powerful Soul Skills and Soul Bones he obtains 3 8 16 20.

That affection is subordinate to institutional duty. He treats the Pope’s relationship with a Soul Beast as a threat to Spirit Hall’s legitimacy, responding with secrecy, coercion, and violence. He regrets the resulting estrangement from his son without regretting his decision to put Spirit Hall first 27 28 30.

His handling of Holy Flame Clone and the Crimson Mother also shows a cautious, strategic side: he protects hidden advantages and responds decisively to threats whose full extent is not yet known 20 30.
