Geography & Defenses

Border and Approaches

  • No Man’s Land separates Emperor Pass from the Three Thousand Provinces. Crossing it is the established route to the pass 179.
  • The Mysterious Pass Ancient Road forms part of Lin Fan’s approach to the gates and becomes the site of attempts to seize his Immortal Seed 248 255.
  • The northern front faces major Foreign Domain incursions. During an earlier invasion, a Dark Immortal King-level existence breached the defenses and nearly crushed the entire front 270.
  • The surrounding wasteland is barren, with scattered broken stone pillars marking the approach to the city gate 250.

Walls and City

  • The defensive line stretches beyond sight. Its cloud-high walls are built from dark-gold star stone and covered in flowing formation patterns 250.
  • An enormous gate contains a dark-gold curtain of light through which entrants undergo inspection 250 265.
  • The interior contains streets, alleys, taverns, teahouses, clan halls, cultivation grounds, and elaborate buildings roofed with dark-gold glazed tiles 265 269 270.
  • The wider region includes ancient lands sealed for long periods and a northern mountain range housing the Stars Immortal Sect 261.

Hazards Outside the Pass

Hazard Details
Immortal Dao blood Chen Xuan dies after touching it with his divine sense. Lin Fan detects both Immortal Dao remnants and Dark Matter within it 250.
Pure-Blooded True Dragon skeleton A relic of the Immortal Ancient Era whose lingering bloodline pressure can crush ordinary cultivators approaching within a million zhang 250.
Ambushes and dark forces Lin Fan encounters clan interception attempts, assassins, and a dark army while traveling toward Emperor Pass 248 255 256 259.

Cultivation Environment

Complete Dao Laws

  • Most of the Great Dao’s essence was sealed along Emperor Pass when the Immortal Domain shattered. Its laws are therefore more complete than those of the Three Thousand Provinces 217.
  • These laws allow Great Emperors and higher beings to emerge. The Drunkard Ancestor confirms that immortals stationed at the pass are the reason the Three Thousand Provinces have remained peaceful 217 218.
  • Cultivators raised under Emperor Pass’s laws generally possess stronger, more complete law foundations than their counterparts from the Three Thousand Provinces 183 185 206.
  • Lin Fan fully integrates the local laws after half a month of cultivation, bringing his existing power into harmony with the environment 270 271.

Cultivator Standing

Realm Standing or Eligibility at Emperor Pass
Saint / Sage Realm Cultivators from the Three Thousand Provinces become eligible to travel there, though the Drunkard Ancestor describes Saint Realm fighters as cannon fodder by local standards 218.
Sage King Realm Considered a mainstay; cultivators at this realm and above must visit Emperor Pass at least once for tempering 218.
Quasi-Emperor Realm Not necessarily an elite position: the Golden Armor Quasi-Emperor counted as mid-level fighting strength within the Jin Clan 218.
Great Emperor Realm Great Emperors hold defensive lines and cannot be freely redeployed when the northern battlefield is unstable 269.
Immortals A small remaining group holds back the Foreign Domain 218.

Training and Reputation

  • Among the Three Thousand Provinces, Emperor Pass is treated as mysterious and nearly taboo; ancient accounts restrict knowledge of it to cultivators above the Saint Realm 179.
  • Its prodigies commonly regard cultivators from the Three Thousand Provinces as inferior because of their incomplete laws 185 206.
  • Most Three Thousand Provinces prodigies cannot withstand three moves from visiting Emperor Pass talents. Feng Jiuge performs better, exchanging over a hundred moves with a silver-robed visitor before narrowly losing 212.
  • The Lin Clan sends promising members to Emperor Pass upon reaching the Sage Realm. Lin Chen calls it the clan’s true battlefield rather than merely another trial ground 269.

Entry Procedures & Customs

First Trial

  • On the journey involving Lin Fan and his peers, the Jin Clan envoy leaves the entrants at the wasteland’s edge and declares that reaching the gate is the first trial 250.
  • Lin Fan’s admission assessment later records that he crossed No Man’s Land unscathed, crossed the river at the Other Shore of Death first, and obtained the Nine Netherworlds Devil Stone first 266.

Admission Check

  • A golden pillar of light examines an entrant’s cultivation, constitution, laws, and soul for contamination 265.
  • Entry is granted after confirming the absence of Dark Matter contamination and forbidden Foreign Domain objects 265.
  • The gate can display an entrant’s origin, physique, eye technique, cultivation, Immortal Qi, achievements, and ranking among entrants 266.
  • First-time entrants receive rewards. Lin Fan receives an Ancient Tower Comprehension Token upon passing his inspection 265 266.

Newcomer “Tuition”

  • Established cultivators describe taking newcomers’ admission rewards as a local tradition rather than an official rule 266.
  • The custom rests on strength: newcomers unable to defend their rewards are told they may reclaim them after becoming stronger—if they survive 266.
  • A peak Quasi-Emperor Demon Race cultivator attempts to take Lin Fan’s token and is killed, prompting the Jin, Tang, and Ouyang Clans to accuse Lin Fan of unauthorized killing 266 267.

Factions & Institutions

Faction or Institution Position and Significance
Longevity and immortal clans The highest-described clan tier. These lineages have produced Immortal Dao experts and possess deeply established reserves, though their strength varies 269.
Lin Clan Maintains major foundations at Emperor Pass and usually keeps a low profile. Lin Chen claims its full reserves exceed those of the Ouyang, Tang, and Jin Clans combined 269.
Tian Clan An immortal lineage represented by Tian Ming, a young early-stage Quasi-Emperor 219.
Jin Clan An ancient imperial clan. Jin Wudao joins attempts to seize Lin Fan’s Immortal Seed; Jin Clan members also serve as envoys and visiting combatants 183 248 250 261.
Tang and Ouyang Clans Cooperate with the Jin Clan in planning Lin Fan’s interception. Tang Xuantian and Ouyang Lie continue plotting after Lin Dong defeats them 248 255.
Wang Clan Classified alongside the Jin Clan among imperial clans. Wang Xi resides at Emperor Pass and anticipates a confrontation with Lin Fan 261 269.
Stars Immortal Sect Located in a starlight-shrouded mountain range north of Emperor Pass. Ye Chen seeks its dangerous Stars Immortal Physique inheritance 261.
Quasi-Emperor orthodoxies and rogue cultivator factions Numerous, but generally less capable of forming a major political force 269.
Emperor Pass Council Invoked during demands that Lin Dong surrender his treasure and undergo investigation for alleged dark contamination 270.

Notable Sites & Relics

  • Ancient Tower — Left behind by an Immortal King. Its comprehension rights are exceptionally scarce; onlookers describe only three tokens being issued across Emperor Pass over an unspecified long interval 265.
  • Ancient Tower Comprehension Token — A palm-sized dark-gold token bearing a nine-story tower in relief. Lin Fan receives one as his first-entry reward 265.
  • Emperor Pass Ancient Token — A separate dark-gold relic awarded to Lin Fan’s system inventory. Rumored to connect to a lost chapter of history, it bears a faint marking resembling ancient script or an eroded sword scar 204.
  • Homeward Bound — A small tavern frequented by Lin Chen, who brings Lin Fan to a private upstairs room to explain Emperor Pass’s factions and history 269.
  • Western ancient land — A miasma-shrouded sealed territory where an ancient figure awakens from immortal source after news of the Immortal Seed spreads 261.

History

Formation After the Immortal Ancient Era

The battle that shattered the Immortal Domain left both Emperor Pass and the Three Thousand Provinces as surviving fragments. Ancient Immortal Dao experts refined the largest fragment into a border stronghold between the Foreign Domain and the Three Thousand Provinces, concentrating much of the Great Dao’s essence along its defensive line 217.

A damaged tablet later discovered by Tian Ye indicates that the Ancient God Lineage was not entirely annihilated after the era’s great battle: some survivors were sent to Emperor Pass. Tian Ye consequently hopes to find traces of his lineage and his father there 216.

Lin Dong’s Defense and Expulsion

During a devastating invasion, a Dark Immortal King-level existence broke through Emperor Pass’s defenses. Three successive relief groups failed to stabilize the northern front, and the fighting reached the city gates 270.

According to Lin Chen, Lin Dong entered the Foreign Domain Abyss, stopped the invasion, and returned with an unidentified immortal treasure. Powerful families coveted it, accused him of dark contamination, and demanded that he surrender it for a Council investigation 270.

Lin Dong refused. He fought his way back through the pass, killed a Great Emperor, severely wounded several lineage ancestors, broke through three gates, and departed. After a later invasion devastated Emperor Pass, its people blamed him for the losses 270.

Dark Infiltration

  • Ye Tian’s system profile identifies covert Foreign Domain infiltration as the root cause of the Ye Clan’s destruction and confirms that someone within Emperor Pass is colluding with darkness 229.
  • A dark invader’s knowledge of the Immortal Seed operation raises suspicion that the traitor may belong to one of the three participating clans; this is not established as a confirmed identity 241.
  • After news of the Immortal Seed and Seven Kills Hall’s involvement leaks, Jin Wudao, Tang Xuantian, and Ouyang Lie order internal investigations into unusual activity and contacts with dark forces 261.
  • By Lin Fan’s arrival, the Northern Region Battlefield is unstable and the Darkness Faction is becoming increasingly active 269.
