Biodata
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Name | Paimon (派蒙) |
| Alias(es) | Davidai — her attempted false identity; “Emergency Food” — Wei Zhenzu’s teasing nickname 5 33 |
| Gender | Female 5 |
| Affiliation | Wei Zhenzu’s traveling companion 5 44 |
| Occupation/Role | Self-described professional Teyvat guide; provides companionship and practical travel advice 33 45 |
| First Appearance | Emerges as an unnamed figure from the Anemo Archon statue 4; identified as Paimon 5. Previously mentioned by Wei Zhenzu 2. |
Appearance
- Small stature: Klee describes her as “little Paimon”; the narration places her at roughly half Klee’s size 12.
- White hair and white-and-gold clothing: Her small figure appears when Wei Zhenzu attempts to resonate with the Anemo Archon statue 4 12.
- Starry cape: Drifts behind her and scatters specks of starlight during her first conversation with Wei Zhenzu 5.
- Childlike voice: Her attempt to imitate a world-weary adult fails to disguise her naturally soft, girlish voice 5.
Personality
Paimon is boastful, playful, and easily embarrassed when her performance falls apart. She introduces herself as “Davidai” in a deliberately lowered voice, only to abandon the act while answering Wei Zhenzu’s questions. She later calls herself “the cutest guide ever,” inadvertently revealing her name. When pressed about her unusual knowledge, she deflects with teasing rather than an explanation 5.
Food dominates her plans and priorities. She rejects Dandelion Wine as “bitter water,” prefers Good Hunter’s honey roast, and imagines Wei Zhenzu’s future restaurant as a place where he cooks while she eats. His descriptions of Liyue cuisine convince her to support leaving Mondstadt immediately 6 38 44.
Despite frequently hiding from danger, Paimon shows genuine concern for Wei Zhenzu. She panics when the Fairy Gentleman swallows him, checks on him after his collapse, and questions whether his injuries make another commission unsafe. After his defeat by Hilichurls, she offers him her partially eaten Sunsettia and tries to console him 8 9 46 48.
Abilities & Skills
Flight
Paimon routinely floats and moves through the air, circling companions and hovering beside them during travel 5 11.
- Can maneuver freely, but struggles to keep pace with Wei Zhenzu under Venti’s travel potion 11.
- Is vulnerable to strong winds; the Cryo Regisvine’s gale tosses her around until she clings to Wei Zhenzu 13.
- Hunger can leave her barely able to fly 45.
Guidance and Practical Support
Paimon identifies herself as a professional Teyvat guide rather than a combatant 33.
- Directs Wei Zhenzu to the Adventurers’ Guild when they need money for their journey 45.
- Gathers Abnormality meat for his recovery meal despite finding it disgusting 21.
- Collects fruit and prepares a fire while he approaches the Hilichurl camp 47 48.
- Notices the Fairy Gentleman’s attempt to drink from its wine cup and voices concern before Wei Zhenzu destroys it 8.
Unexplained Knowledge and Manifestation
At their first meeting, Paimon knows about the vehicle inside Wei Zhenzu’s mind and his fondness for menzi, a snack from his real-world hometown. She also correctly tells him that his resonance has granted neither Elemental Power nor an Elemental Skill or Burst 5.
- Says she appeared because she sensed his resonance with the statue 5.
- Briefly flickers into a tall, pale-blue silhouette surrounded by imagery of books and turning gears 5.
- During the manifestation, a mature female voice overlaps hers and speaks directly into Wei Zhenzu’s mind: “Should I call you Manager, or... Librarian?” 5.
- The silhouette’s identity and its relationship to Paimon remain unexplained in the supplied chapters. Wei Zhenzu’s suspicion of a connection to the City is not confirmed 5.
Combat Limitations
Paimon’s combat power is described as approximately zero during the encounter with Scorched Girl 12.
- Usually cheers, watches, or takes cover rather than attacking 8 12 13.
- Hides during the climactic Stormterror battle and emerges only after Vergilius and Mephistopheles leave 33.
- Defends her lack of combat assistance by saying her role is emotional support and sampling post-battle spoils 33.
Story Role / Major Arcs
Arrival in Mondstadt
Paimon is absent when Amber finds Wei Zhenzu unconscious near the Whispering Woods. She appears later, after his unsuccessful attempt to obtain Anemo power from the Statue of the Seven 2 4.
Calling herself Davidai, she denies being Paimon but quickly exposes the disguise. Her knowledge of Wei Zhenzu’s inner system and hometown, followed by the pale-blue manifestation, makes him question who she really is. She avoids answering and leads him to a tavern to meet an “old friend,” Venti 5 6.
Early Abnormality Encounters
Paimon accompanies Wei Zhenzu into the alley behind Angel’s Share to confront the Fairy Gentleman. She interrupts his dramatic Identity draw with a portable record player and an advertising slogan, then cheers from a distant barrel during the fight. Her excitement turns to panic when the creature swallows him 7 8.
After Venti gives Wei Zhenzu a travel potion, she follows his uncontrolled slide out of Mondstadt and into the Cryo Regisvine’s lair. There, she meets Klee and witnesses Scorched Girl become the Light of the Final Match E.G.O. Paimon immediately worries about the destructive potential of Klee’s new cannon 11 12 13.
Stormterror’s Lair
Inside the Mirror Dungeon, Wei Zhenzu takes Paimon into an Abnormality Event Node. They arrive in a ruined train carriage and witness an Abyss Mage distort into the pseudo–Lost Passenger. After Wei Zhenzu defeats it, she applauds his spatial swordsmanship and helps gather ingredients for a restorative meal 17 18 20 21.
She accompanies Wei Zhenzu and Varka toward the tower’s final battle but later hides from the danger. Afterward, Wei Zhenzu compares her unfavorably with Vergilius; their ensuing argument lightens his mood following the crisis 22 33.
Recovery and Plans for Liyue
Following Timmie’s defeat, Paimon eats the fried poultry scattered across Mondstadt’s bridge. She later celebrates Wei Zhenzu becoming an Honorary Knight and wonders whether the title will earn them shopping discounts 37 38.
In his new dormitory, she enthusiastically supports his dream of opening a restaurant and establishing a home in Liyue. Their shared desire for better food becomes a concrete travel plan, but their lack of Mora forces them to seek work first 38 44 45.
Failed Commission and Tuoerfu
Paimon recommends Guild commissions as a source of income, then worries that Wei Zhenzu has not recovered enough to fight. Her concerns prove justified when he cannot summon an Identity against the Hilichurls and flees, carrying her away from the campfire 45 46 48.
With only fifteen Mora between them, the pair encounter Tuoerfu. Paimon recognizes that his expensive handkerchief contradicts Wei Zhenzu’s assumption that he is another impoverished traveler. During Tuoerfu’s account of his family history, she asks whether Roland’s ivory horn would improve the taste of apple cider 48 49 50.
April Fools’ Day Special
In a separate dreamlike modern-city episode, Paimon accompanies Wei Zhenzu on a food outing. They visit a hot pot restaurant, an arcade, and a shopping-center plaza. The main story explicitly resumes afterward 42 43 44.
Relationships
- Wei Zhenzu — Traveling companion and the person she guides. Their relationship combines food-centered banter with mutual affection: she supports his restaurant dream and worries about his injuries, while he calls her his “little guide” 9 38 46.
- Venti — The “old friend” she brings Wei Zhenzu to meet. They bicker with practiced familiarity; she objects to his teasing, calls him the “Tone-Deaf Bard,” and exposes his lack of money 5 6 10.
- Klee — Paimon asks to be called “Sister Paimon,” but Klee instead greets her as “little Paimon.” She later fears what Klee might do with her new E.G.O cannon 12 13.
- Vergilius — Frightens her enough that she remains hidden until he leaves. Wei Zhenzu uses his battlefield intervention as a pointed comparison with her own support role 33.
