Background / History
Fall and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well
The Ice Dragon King and Fire Dragon King fell at the site that eventually became the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well. Their lingering power formed the well over time and nourished the surrounding vegetation. Two enormous dragon skeletons remained beneath its waters 28.
The kings preserved their remnant souls inside those bones. According to the Ice God, they had been waiting for someone capable of enduring both Ultimate Ice and Ultimate Fire—a person who could offer them a chance at rebirth before their souls eventually dissipated 101.
Encounter with Gu Wuchen
Gu Wuchen initially delayed exploring the skeletons because he feared that surviving dragon souls would be beyond his ability to handle. When he eventually descended to the lake bed, both kings manifested and questioned his intentions. The Ice Dragon King suspected that he coveted their bones 28 100.
Unconvinced by his explanation, the kings attacked together. Their combined ice and fire pressure boiled half the nearby water, froze the other half, and shattered the lake-bed rocks. The Ice God’s phantom emerged from the Ice Soul Sword and blocked the attack 100.
The Ice God introduced Gu Wuchen as the inheritor of both his own godhood and the Sea God’s. Offered a chance at resurrection, the kings agreed to follow Gu Wuchen. They expected an ordinary allegiance contract, but the Ice God restrained them while Gu Wuchen implanted soul imprints that established a Master-Servant Contract instead 101.
Unable to resist the completed contract, the kings entered Gu Wuchen’s Sea of Consciousness. There, they encountered the Ice and Snow Empresses and Xiao Wu’s soul 101.
Third Trial and Restoration
The Ice God’s Third Trial required Gu Wuchen to fuse completely with both dragon souls at the ancient altar beneath the well. Although the Ice Dragon King recognized that the trial was making use of them, he agreed to cooperate 132 150.
The opposing souls initially clashed inside Gu Wuchen, threatening to tear his soul apart. Guided by the Ice God, Gu Wuchen used divine power to connect and harmonize them. After the fusion succeeded, the kings joined him in killing the Ancient Ice and Fire Two-Headed Flood Dragon guarding the altar 150.
The trial reward restored their ability to take physical form. Delighted by the result, both kings confirmed their continued assistance to Gu Wuchen before returning to his Sea of Consciousness 151.
Training Shui Bing’er
At Gu Wuchen’s request, the Ice Dragon King emerged to instruct Shui Bing’er near a snowy mountain outside Ice Arrival City. The lessons lasted three days and focused on correcting weaknesses in her control of the ice element 165.
Although Shui Bing’er gained no Soul Power levels during this period, her ice-type Soul Skills improved dramatically, and her Martial Soul Fusion Skill became thirty percent stronger. She also received rare cultivation methods that gave her confidence in reaching a higher realm 165.
Appearance
The Ice Dragon King manifests in both dragon and humanoid forms 100 150 165.
- Dragon form: An enormous ice-blue dragon surrounded by white frost; the air freezes wherever he passes 150.
- Initial humanoid manifestation: A woman wearing an ice-blue gown, with a voice described as cool as ice 100.
- Instructor appearance: A tall, upright figure in a fitted ice-blue outfit, with a faint chill swirling around the body 165.
Personality
The Third Trial explicitly describes the Ice Dragon King as aloof on the outside but warm within. He usually responds to events calmly, approves of the empresses’ deep bonds with Gu Wuchen, and supports concealing their residence in Gu Wuchen’s Sea of Consciousness when disclosure would worsen their quarrel with Bo Saixi 110 116 132.
His acceptance of the contract is pragmatic rather than unconditional. He reminds the Fire Dragon King that following Gu Wuchen has accelerated their recovery, yet reacts furiously when the Ice Empress calls him a servant, insisting that he would never have followed Gu Wuchen without the Ice God’s coercion 132 136.
Despite his reserved manner, he enjoys teasing others and watching their embarrassment. His composure also breaks when the Fire Dragon King mocks him, especially immediately after the restoration of their physical forms 101 136 151 157.
Abilities & Skills
Ultimate Ice
The Ice Dragon King commands extreme cold capable of freezing his surroundings 100 150.
- Combines his power with the Fire Dragon King’s heat to create destructive temperature differences 100.
- Launches a massive ice-dragon attack against the Ancient Ice and Fire Two-Headed Flood Dragon 150.
- Understands the precision needed to use destructive Ultimate Ice to nourish life rather than damage it, explaining this difficulty during Gu Wuchen’s Second Trial 128.
Soul Preservation and Manifestation
His dragon bones originally served as vessels that preserved his remnant soul after death 100 101.
- Retains Demigod-level power without a living body 101.
- Resides within Gu Wuchen’s Sea of Consciousness and communicates with him mentally 101 165.
- Can manifest outside it, including in restored physical form after the Third Trial 151 165.
Ice and Fire Share One Origin
The Ice Dragon King’s soul forms the ice component of Gu Wuchen’s combined ice-and-fire transformation 150.
- Requires the Ice God Power to harmonize his cold with the Fire Dragon King’s opposing flames 150.
- Grants Gu Wuchen control over both Ultimate Ice and Ultimate Fire 150.
- Does not erase the kings’ individual identities; both continue to speak, manifest, and act independently afterward 151 165.
Ice-Element Instruction
His teaching emphasizes accurate control and efficient execution rather than simply increasing Soul Power 165.
- Demonstrates ice arts and identifies flaws in Shui Bing’er’s strength control and targeting 165.
- Raises her Martial Soul Fusion Skill’s power by thirty percent within three days 165.
- Supplies rare cultivation methods for her continued development 165.
Master-Servant Contract Restrictions
The contract places the Ice Dragon King’s life and death under Gu Wuchen’s control 101.
- Soul imprints are embedded directly in his soul origin 101.
- Disobedience can trigger the torment of soul-burning 101.
- If Gu Wuchen dies, both dragon kings die as well 151.
Relationships
- Gu Wuchen — Contractual master and eventual soul-fusion partner. Their association begins through coercion but provides the Ice Dragon King with recovery, restored physical form, and opportunities to act outside the Sea of Consciousness 101 132 150 151 165.
- Fire Dragon King — Fellow fallen dragon king and longtime companion. They cooperate in battle and share the same path toward restoration, but frequently trade barbs 100 132 150 151.
- Ice God — Arranges the deceptive Master-Servant Contract, then facilitates the soul fusion and restoration of physical form through the Third Trial 101 150 151.
- Snow Empress — Fellow ice-attribute Soul Beast and resident of Gu Wuchen’s Sea of Consciousness. He teases her about her relationship with Gu Wuchen but approves of their close bond 101 110.

- Shui Bing’er — Student trained at Gu Wuchen’s request. He praises her comprehension after three days of instruction, and she expresses deep gratitude for his guidance 165.
