Background / History
Spirit Hall and the Heaven Dou Infiltration
Qian Renxue is Qian Daoliu’s granddaughter. Before she meets Gu Wuchen, her grandfather treats her talent as a benchmark, judging his thousand-year First Soul Ring as evidence that he surpasses her 5 8 11.
She spends years disguised as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe. Her mission keeps her away from Spirit Hall and prevents her from returning to compete for the Holy Maiden position. The intended outcome is control of Heaven Dou, supporting Spirit Hall’s plan to unify the continent 40 146 172.
First Dealings with Gu Wuchen
Qian Renxue visits the Gu Clan in Ice Arrival City as Xue Qinghe, seeking Wuchen Soap sales rights. Gu Wuchen recognizes her disguise immediately but continues addressing her as the crown prince. He refuses to bend the clan’s sales rules, though information about the forthcoming Ice Lotus Wuchen Fragrance line interests her 21.
Following Qian Daoliu’s request to pay attention to Gu Wuchen, she invites him to study in Heaven Dou. The invitation is also a pretext to assess his strength. His two thousand-year Soul Rings and Sword Intent astonish her, and she agrees to look after him during his stay in Heaven Dou 21 22 23.
Her support extends beyond business: after learning that Ye Yuan’er has reached level ninety, she orders Porcupinefish Douluo to follow the soul-hunting party and assist if necessary 33.
Rivalry and Defeats
Their dealings become increasingly contentious over Gu Clan products and Gu Wuchen’s teasing. He refuses her an advance beauty set, deliberately ignores her greeting at Heaven Dou Royal Academy, and maneuvers her into being reprimanded by Emperor Xue Ye for not inviting him to the assessment 37 58 59.
After witnessing Dugu Yan’s Martial Soul evolution, Qian Renxue presses him for the method. He makes her declare him “the most handsome man under heaven,” then escapes without giving her a useful explanation beyond attributing the evolution to a stalk of grass 60.
Returning to Spirit Hall for his appointment as Holy Son, she introduces herself in her true identity and challenges him. Expecting her Soul Emperor cultivation to overwhelm him, she instead discovers that he is also a Soul Emperor with far stronger Soul Rings. He counters Angel’s Roar, strips away her angelic enhancements, and ends the fight with his sword at her neck 93 94.
Bibi Dong mocks her defeat, while Qian Daoliu reveals that Gu Wuchen possesses Dual Godhood. Qian Renxue subsequently challenges him again at Spirit Hall Academy. In a contest restricted to swordsmanship and strength, he disarms her and injures her hand. She reluctantly drinks the snow lotus potion he provides, discovering that it heals her minor injuries and improves her mood 95 96 97 98.
Cooperation Against Yu Yuanzhen
Their rivalry gradually develops into practical cooperation. Qian Renxue personally persuades Gu Wuchen to attend the Soul Master Tournament’s opening ceremony, privately intending to sit beside him without attracting questions 126.
She later accepts a bottle of violet perfume in exchange for helping undermine Yu Yuanzhen. Using her intelligence networks, she obtains evidence of his abuses and orders Porcupinefish Douluo and Snake Lance Douluo to spread scandals and recruit clan elders against him, setting a three-day deadline 137 142.
The campaign isolates Yu Yuanzhen and deepens divisions within the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan. Gu Wuchen praises her results and promises her a snow jade golden-thread dress. She accompanies him, Bo Saixi, and Ah Yin to watch the clan assembly from a concealed rooftop as Yu Luomian challenges his brother’s leadership 143 144.
Securing the Succession
Gu Wuchen warns her that Xue Beng and Prince Xue Xing remain threats to her plans. She initially dismisses them, but his explanation that Xue Beng has concealed his ambition beneath a wastrel persona forces her to reconsider. She thanks him formally and leaves with her two Douluo attendants 146 147.
After the beast tide disrupts Heaven Dou, Prince Xue Xing dies suddenly and assassins gravely wound Xue Beng. The narrative identifies these events as Qian Renxue moving against her rivals, leaving Xue Qinghe as the only imperial heir. Her accession is not shown 160.
Investigating the Dark Deity
After Gu Wuchen’s eight-month absence, Qian Renxue updates him on the beast tide and the resumed tournament. He also grants her priority access to the Gu Clan’s latest products, resolving a recurring source of friction between them 159 160.
During the individual competition, she asks about Tang San’s unusual power. Gu Wuchen identifies it as divine power belonging to a purely dark deity. She reports the discovery to Qian Daoliu, including Tang San’s ability to devour Soul Power and Soul Skills 167 168 172.
Unable to find records of this deity, Qian Daoliu sends her back to question Gu Wuchen about its origins, purpose, and weaknesses. Despite her irritation with Gu Wuchen, she accepts that the continent’s safety takes precedence over their personal disagreements 172.
Appearance
- True appearance: Fair skin described as whiter than snow, long golden hair, delicate doll-like features, and golden eyes 93 97.
- Clothing: Wears long golden dresses at Spirit Hall, golden battle armor with her hair tied high during training, and a pristine white dress when reporting to Qian Daoliu 93 97 172.
- As Xue Qinghe: Appears as a handsome young man with short golden hair. Her wardrobe includes luxurious brocade robes, an emerald waist pendant, a golden python robe, and bright-yellow crown prince’s robes 21 64 119.
- Martial Soul possession: Three pairs of golden wings spread behind her 94.
Personality
Qian Renxue is proud, competitive, and deeply reluctant to admit defeat. She challenges Gu Wuchen partly because she cannot accept her grandfather’s judgment that he surpasses her. Even after losing in both Soul Skill combat and a restricted sword match, she continues insisting that she has not lost 93 94 97 98.
As Xue Qinghe, she maintains an elegant, courteous public manner. She restrains her temper to preserve the crown prince’s dignity, even when Gu Wuchen deliberately provokes her. In private, she is far more outspoken, easily embarrassed, and openly resentful of being excluded from gifts given to others 21 37 60 97.
Her irritation with Gu Wuchen coexists with admiration and attraction. She becomes absorbed in watching him practice swordsmanship and accidentally lists his looks, temperament, strength, and charisma while trying to deny that he has any good qualities. Later, she arranges an opportunity to sit beside him at the tournament opening 96 126.
She is also an effective political operator. Her campaign against Yu Yuanzhen combines intelligence gathering, public pressure, and recruitment of internal opponents. When the Dark Deity emerges as a continental threat, she puts aside her personal grievances to seek answers 142 143 172.
