Personality

Lin Luo is reserved and outwardly indifferent. Su Bai initially knows him as a man of few words with a concealed wild streak. His composure extends to combat: he remains calm while destroying a ghost and recognizes how Whitebeard has transformed his dagger even as the counterattack unfolds 43 45 48.

His commitment to protecting civilians is specifically rooted in his duties as a Grave Keeper. He objects to using Section Seven for ordinary stalking or kidnapping cases, but says he would confront a supernatural threat regardless of the consequences. Once Carrot describes an apparently supernatural incident, he offers protection without payment 43.

He also has a dry, mischievous sense of humor. He lets Su Bai and Qingxue believe that Bloodline Marks must be bitten apart and swallowed before revealing that simply carrying them allows gradual absorption. Despite his principles, he is happy to accept a paid assignment and recruits Su Bai by offering half the fee 34 43.

His loyalty becomes uncompromising when teammates are threatened. He calls Su Bai his brother, insists that teammates should trust one another with their backs, and later holds off Whitebeard’s vines despite broken bones and wounds through his chest 45 50.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Return from Tianjing

While Lin Luo is away in Tianjing, Li Ming identifies him as the squad’s strongest source of academic knowledge. After returning, he learns from Chu Ning that Wrath apparently destroyed the Little Match Girl’s Bloodline Mark, then meets Su Bai and gives him a Bugatti Veyron 7 13 15.

At Su Bai’s first squad meeting, Lin Luo introduces his responsibilities and Oracle. He also delivers headquarters’ proposal for Li Ming to command the Seventh Special Operations Squad and presents the investigation into the Hunter Guild’s use of Heavenly River International 16 17.

Hunter Guild Operation

Lin Luo waits at the hotel containing the laptop used as bait. When Lin Acheng arrives to retrieve it, Lin Luo identifies him as the Hunter Guild member codenamed Bear and uses darkness to stop his escape 29.

After the guild’s destruction, Lin Luo distributes headquarters’ evaluations and receives an A himself. He subsequently hands out Bloodline Mark rewards and gives Lin Acheng’s mark to Qingxue 32 34.

Carrot Protection Assignment

Lin Luo’s apparent vacation in Sanya is cover for a confidential Section Seven assignment. Su Bai joins him there for protection while awaiting permission to use Formless 42.

The assignment concerns Carrot, Sister Yan’s younger sister. Lin Luo arranges for Su Bai to protect her while he protects Su Bai, but takes the supernatural threat seriously once he examines her account. At her concert, he deploys Dark Night and destroys the attacking strange tale after it injures Su Bai 43 44 45.

Their investigation connects the apparition to a story Carrot heard in Star Anise Village. Recognizing the danger of contaminated stories reaching a television audience, the pair end her protection contract without charging a fee and seek the local Grave Keepers 45 46.

Interception of Whitebeard

The Sanya Squad reveals that Star Anise Village is a Monster Association base and that Carrot’s protection assignment was intended to avoid alerting the enemy during preparations for a larger operation. When that operation leaves Grave Keepers trapped and Whitebeard heading toward Sanya, Lin Luo joins the interception force 47.

His ambush fails when Whitebeard creates light, destroys Dark Night, and turns his dagger against him. Later, he emerges from hiding to shield Su Bai from vines and warn him against losing control of Wrath 48 50.

After Su Bai breaks the Adam Domain and collapses, the critically injured Lin Luo crawls toward him. He then sees Whitebeard’s severed head smile and blink, revealing that the enemy is still alive 50.
