Family and Childhood

Fu Jingzhou is the youngest son of Fu Bai, the Fu family patriarch. His mother, Madam Lizhi, was Fu Bai’s first and only legal wife. After years of poor health and difficulty conceiving, she became pregnant at forty and died after giving birth to him. Fu Bai had numerous children with other women, but Fu Jingzhou remained his only child listed on the household register 5 6.

Despite his privileged position, Fu Jingzhou grew up lonely. His father’s work and many other children left him with little individual attention, while the household servants treated him deferentially rather than as a companion. Fu Xingli’s birth, when Fu Jingzhou was four, finally gave him someone to talk to. Attempted Murder and Concealed Recovery

On his twelfth birthday, Fu Jingzhou was involved in a deliberately arranged car crash. Fu Chi and several other illegitimate children of Fu Bai had hired a killer to target him. His uncle turned the steering wheel so that the truck struck his own side of the car, dying at the scene and saving Fu Jingzhou’s life 120 160.

The crash damaged Fu Jingzhou’s gland and disabled his legs. His unmarried, childless uncle left him all his assets, making the surviving boy an even more valuable target. Relatives who had previously feared his secure position began treating him as an unsuitable successor, and some directors quietly approached other potential heirs 120 160.

Fu Jingzhou eventually regained the ability to walk but continued presenting himself as disabled for more than a decade. He judged that an apparently disabled heir would seem less threatening to the people who wanted him dead 159 160.

Fu Jingzhou ranked first throughout his schooling, from elementary school through university. After graduating from a prestigious university, he entered the family business and used ruthless measures against those threatening his position 1 118.

He initially approaches marriage as a business arrangement. He explains his care for Jiang Nan as a precaution against future trouble with Jiang Qingye and plans to divorce once he becomes chairman. His growing pleasure in their conversations unsettles this carefully transactional outlook 10 17.

Betrayal and loss of control are particular sensitivities. After a subordinate costs him a major partnership, he explicitly asks Jiang Nan not to betray him. His childhood rejection of a kitten after seeing it in another child’s arms illustrates his desire for exclusive attachment 16 88.

Jiang Nan’s extravagant flirting gradually becomes part of Fu Jingzhou’s daily life. After an argument, Fu Jingzhou makes the unusual effort to apologize and bring him downstairs for dinner. Later, medical monitoring forces him to confront the fact that his accelerated heartbeat and active pheromones signify attraction 30 54.

Their intimacy develops through kisses, caretaking, and shared time. Jiang Nan realizes his own feelings on November twenty-first after secretly kissing the apparently sleeping Fu Jingzhou; Fu Jingzhou subsequently opens his eyes and draws him into an embrace 61 65 103 104.

Divorce and Reconciliation

Jealous over Jiang Nan calling another person “baby,” Fu Jingzhou tells him to stop using the nickname for him. Jiang Nan interprets the instruction as romantic rejection and eventually requests a divorce, which they obtain at the Civil Affairs Bureau 114 121.

Fu Jingzhou does not consider the divorce a permanent separation and explicitly raises the possibility of remarriage with his friends. When Jiang Nan returns drunk and admits that he still loves his “wife,” Fu Jingzhou learns that Jiang Nan believed he loved someone else 123 132 133.

He later confronts Jiang Nan about the confession, reveals that he knew about the secret kisses, and exposes his Alpha identity. He also makes clear that dissolving the original marriage certificate did not mean he intended to let Jiang Nan leave permanently 139.

Disappearance and Ferris Wheel Finale

After Jiang Nan’s three-day absence, Fu Jingzhou admits that he fears losing him and keeps him restrained in bed. Jiang Nan objects, and Fu Jingzhou eventually unlocks the handcuffs 200 202 203.

At the show’s Ferris wheel finale, Jiang Nan admits that he wants to remain with him forever. Fu Jingzhou gives him the platinum ring he bought on the day of the disappearance, and Jiang Nan promises that he would have found his way back 204.
