Background
Hongxuan was born Li Hongxuan, a postnatal human child raised in the Hengshan Tribe while the Three Xiao Sisters—Yunxiao, Qiongxiao, and Bixiao—temporarily resided there. Their spiritual-energy cleansing accelerated his growth: he spoke after one month, walked after two, recited scriptures at three months, and understood them by six months. By age three, he resembled a child of eight or nine. 3
His early cultivation was defined by an extraordinary comprehension talent. While studying the Supreme Clarity Immortal Arts, he created and perfected the first turn of the Hongxuan Body Tempering Art. The Three Xiao Sisters then trained him through repeated demon-beast hunts around the tribe, both to repay its hospitality and to build real combat experience. 6
Although the sisters had raised and taught him for nearly a century, Lord Tongtian determined that their connection was not truly one of master and disciple. He nevertheless accepted Hongxuan into the Jie Sect, where Hongxuan became Tongtian's disciple. 14 223
Hongxuan never abandoned the Hengshan Tribe after leaving it. His protection and teachings helped transform it from a vulnerable settlement into a major human tribe with Martial Dao practitioners and cultivators, and he continued to shield it from later dangers. 9 94 100
Personality
Hongxuan is intensely ambitious but methodical. As a young cultivator, he resolves to pursue immortality, Golden Immortal realms, Quasi-Sagehood, and ultimately Sage-level power rather than accept a limited path. 6 He tempers his foundation rather than rushing breakthroughs, even when his talent would allow faster advancement. 6 15
He is cautious with alliances, hidden schemes, and karmic entanglements. He conceals his aura and heavenly secrets, investigates potential threats through deduction, and avoids becoming deeply involved in Heavenly Court factional struggles. 20 36 110 154
Despite his calculating nature, Hongxuan is deeply loyal to those who helped him. He protects the Hengshan Tribe, seeks to change the Three Xiao Sisters' tragic future, and repeatedly prioritizes Houtu's safety and success. 33 143 237 His relationships with Houtu and the Three Xiao Sisters keep him from becoming indifferent to others as his strength rises. 335 381
Hongxuan recognizes that cultivation without attention to one's Dao heart is dangerous. After rapid progress leaves him with an unstable desire to challenge enemies beyond his realm, he deliberately returns to studying the Eternal Dao Tome to restore his mental balance. 409
