Attacks on the Main Cities

Jiang Xiaotian led the Star Divine Sect, one of the Desolate Domain’s five pinnacle powers. When the soul lamps of Pokong, Heaven, Earth, Man, and the sect’s disciples in Fire Cloud Main City extinguished simultaneously, he dispatched Deputy Sect Master Daoist Yinyang to investigate. He authorized retaliation regardless of the culprit’s identity or faction, even at the risk of war between the domain’s strongest powers 14.

He initially considered Half-Moon Mountain Manor, Earth Demon Cave, and Sword Repository Pavilion possible suspects. He dismissed the exterminated Jun Clan and Su Fan, his prospective son-in-law. Believing Su Fan’s reputation should deter local rivals, he also considered whether forces outside the Desolate Domain were involved 14 15.

As reports arrived from Water Manor, Golden Mound, and Azure Wood Main Cities, Jiang Xiaotian shifted from investigation to emergency defense. He assembled disciples at the Spirit Gathering Realm and above, recalled Yinyang, activated the sect-protecting formation, and summoned the sect’s leadership. Recognizing that survival was uncertain, he ordered Qingxia to select three thousand seed disciples to preserve the sect’s legacy 15 16.

Jun Wudao’s Return

Before the invasion, Jiang Xiaotian rallied a million disciples by invoking the sect’s founders and urging them to defend their home. Their confidence faltered when the enormous Nine Nether Rebirth Boat appeared 18.

Jiang Xiaotian was stunned to recognize Jun Wudao, whose apparent death beneath Su Fan’s sword he had personally witnessed. He adopted a warm, conciliatory manner when Jun Wudao questioned whether his survival threatened Jiang Xueyi’s relationship with Su Fan 19.

Although he recognized Jun Wudao’s perfected Divine Body Realm cultivation, Jiang Xiaotian underestimated his individual strength. His chief concern was the possibility of unknown experts aboard the warship. Jun Wudao then declared his revenge against Su Fan, Jiang Xueyi, and their supporting forces, shattering the sect’s protective formation with a single strike 20.

Defeat and Aftermath

After Jun Wudao’s attack destroyed a third of the sect, Jiang Xiaotian vowed to defend it and charged with his purple-glowing longsword. Yinyang and the other leaders joined him, while the disciples deployed the All-Heavens Star Formation. Their combined bombardment failed to kill Jun Wudao 21 22.

When Jun Wudao killed Blood Soul before the assembled sect, Jiang Xiaotian retaliated with God Slaying alongside Yinyang’s Life and Death Seal. Jun Wudao evaded both attacks and kicked Jiang Xiaotian into a mountain, shattering it and leaving him grievously injured 23 24 25.

Elders carried Jiang Xiaotian and Yinyang away when Supreme Elder Feng Jue ordered a retreat. His death is not directly depicted in these passages; Jiang Xueyi later mourns her father among those lost in the sect’s destruction 27 41.

Personality

Jiang Xiaotian was fiercely protective of the Star Divine Sect and quick to answer attacks with overwhelming retaliation. Nevertheless, he could temper anger with practical caution: once he recognized the invasion’s uncertainty, he prioritized defensive preparations and preserving the sect’s lineage 14 15 16.

He placed considerable confidence in Su Fan’s reputation and the sect’s numerical and cultivation advantages. That confidence contributed to his misjudgment of Jun Wudao, but witnessing the sect’s destruction drove him to fight rather than surrender 15 20 21.
