Background / History

Su Fan belonged to Storm City’s Su Lineage and was the son of Su Changqing. Three years before the main events, residents knew him as a young man without cultivation. Zhao Hai also remembered competing alongside him in the martial tournament of the city’s three great lineages 5 6 7.

His relationship with Jiang Xueyi brought him into conflict with Jun Wudao, her betrothed. On the day of her wedding, Jiang Xueyi publicly declared her love for Su Fan and left with him. The incident humiliated Jun Wudao and the Jun Clan before the assembled powers of the Desolate Domain 1 10 19.

The Jun Clan pursued Su Fan for more than half a year, but failed to kill him and lost its pursuing disciples instead. Su Fan eventually attacked the clan in a battle lasting three days, destroyed it, and pierced Jun Wudao’s chest with his sword. Jun Wudao survived through the activation of the True Self System, without Su Fan’s knowledge 1 9 19.

The victory made Su Fan infamous as Ruthless Su. News that he had annihilated one of the Desolate Domain’s five pinnacle powers—and defeated its ancestor in three moves—spread throughout the region 12.

Personality

Su Fan is determined to grow stronger for the sake of promises and personal attachments. During his flame transformation, he refuses to surrender because he still intends to bring his distant mother home, reunite her with his father, and obtain the medicinal treasure needed to reconstruct his master’s body 34.

He intervenes against predatory violence, killing the bandits threatening Shangguan Feiyue. He is also ruthless toward enemies: his destruction of the Jun Clan earns him a reputation that frightens established powers throughout the Desolate Domain 12 33.

Su Fan welcomes opportunities to compete against stronger prodigies and explore the wider world. He remains outspoken before powerful seniors, repeatedly challenging the reasoning behind Shangguan Xiongtian’s suspicion that he caused the Desolate Domain’s disaster 35 42.

His affection for Jiang Xueyi is evident in his attempts to support her after the Star Divine Sect’s destruction. Despite sharing her anguish, he struggles to find words capable of comforting her 40 41.

After Su Fan kills a divine son, the opposing sect’s perfected Divine Soul Realm ancestor arrives with its experts. Their attack sends the three companions into an abyss, where a blood-colored flame enters Su Fan’s body. Guided by his master, he survives the fusion and advances to middle-stage Divine Power Realm 33 34.

Shangguan Feiyue offers her family’s protection against Thunder God Hall and invites both companions to the upcoming Heavenly Pride Battle. Su Fan accepts the prospect of testing himself against prodigies from other domains 34 35.

Return to the Desolate Domain

News of a catastrophe in the Desolate Domain interrupts their plans. Fearing for their homes, Su Fan and Jiang Xueyi return aboard Shangguan Feiyue’s warship 35 36.

At the Star Divine Sect’s ruins, Su Fan supports the devastated Jiang Xueyi and joins her demand to identify the culprit. Shangguan Xiongtian’s suggestion that the youth who destroyed the Jun Clan caused the disaster inadvertently points suspicion at Su Fan himself 40 41.

Su Fan rejects the accusation, explaining that he was training in the Profound Domain. Shangguan Feiyue corroborates his account. Although the governor’s attention shifts toward Su Fan’s combat potential, Su Fan remains unsettled by his behavior 42 43.

Discovery of Storm City’s Destruction

Su Fan next returns to Storm City and finds his own family destroyed, experiencing grief and despair like Jiang Xueyi’s. The massacre had been carried out by Jun Wudao’s Asura Legion in retaliation for the Jun Clan’s annihilation 7 8 43.

Meanwhile, Jun Wudao waits in Heavenly Moon Commandery City, gathering information about Su Fan and Jiang Xueyi and expecting the Heavenly Pride Battle to bring them together again. No renewed confrontation is documented in the supplied chapters 36 38 39 43.
