The breath brushing her palm distracts Ning Fanyin for a moment. Then she presses, "What if you married me?"

Only after a long silence does the man whisper, almost inaudibly, "I'm already old, and my looks are fading. You ought to find yourself some younger men, Fanyin."

Xie Yunyu is tossed back onto the bed. By the time he looks up again, the woman is gone.

Ning Fanyin thinks he despises her supposedly castrated body. Little does she know that Yunyu is simply afraid-afraid he will not be able to stay with her for long.
