Ch. 1The man with no memory / The unidentified assassin (part one)

Wuxin, a man who had lost all memories of his identity, woke in the age of myth and met Hakurei and Crane Yuzuriha. After asking to join Sanctuary so he could learn Cosmo and protect himself, he awaited their response.

  • Wuxin woke in Hakurei and Crane Yuzuriha's care and recognized them despite speaking an unfamiliar language.
  • Hakurei questioned Wuxin about his knowledge of Sanctuary, but Wuxin explained that he could not remember his own identity or name.
  • Hakurei left Wuxin in Yuzuriha's care, and Wuxin chose the name Wuxin for himself.
  • Wuxin asked Yuzuriha for the chance to join Sanctuary and learn to wield Cosmo.

Ch. 2The Assassin Unknown (Part Two)

Wuxin failed to persuade Yuzuriha that he deserved to join Sanctuary, then tried to earn her and Hakurei’s trust by helping with chores. A mysterious swordsman attacked them through a supernatural mist, and Wuxin was left badly injured as he tried to stall for Hakurei.

  • Yuzuriha accused Wuxin of craving Cosmo and refused to let him join Sanctuary, so he resolved to earn her and Hakurei’s trust.
  • Wuxin’s efforts to help with chores made Yuzuriha more wary, and he worried she might imprison him.
  • A strange mist spread across Jamir, reducing Yuzuriha’s senses and prompting her to stay close to Wuxin.
  • A silent attacker emerged from the mist and struck at Yuzuriha, but she caught his sword with her scarf and bound him.
  • The attacker unleashed a powerful aura that broke Yuzuriha’s scarf and sent her and Wuxin flying, leaving Wuxin gravely injured.
  • Wuxin dodged another sword strike through sheer survival instinct, while the attacker overpowered Yuzuriha again; she warned Wuxin to run, and he tried to stall until Hakurei arrived.

Ch. 3Sasha's attitude

Hakurei defeated a mysterious enemy’s telekinetic armor avatar and learned that the powerful foe had targeted Wuxin, an ordinary young man with no memory of his identity. After Sasha sensed a profound connection between Wuxin and the Sanctuary, she judged that he was comparable to a Gold Saint.

  • Hakurei rescued Wuxin and Yuzuriha from a sword-wielding stranger and destroyed the enemy’s armored avatar in the fog.
  • Hakurei warned Wuxin and Yuzuriha that the enemy’s true self was far stronger, then told them to stay inside and recover.
  • Watching from afar, the stubbled man in the burgundy suit decided to investigate whoever had interfered with his script.
  • Hakurei contacted Sage and explained that the enemy had tried to assassinate Wuxin, prompting Sage to suggest sending Wuxin to Kanon Island for questioning.
  • Sasha joined Hakurei and Sage, traveled to see Wuxin in soul form, and sensed that he had a significant connection to the Sanctuary.
  • Sasha told Hakurei that Wuxin was comparable to the Sanctuary’s Gold Saints.

Ch. 4Persuading Hakurei / Building a Tower from Grains of Sand

Wuxin asked Hakurei for a chance to join the Sanctuary so he could gain Cosmo, and convinced the Grand Elder to let him train in Jamir. Hakurei assigned him to train alongside Yuzuriha, though he had been testing Wuxin's determination.

  • Sasha urged Hakurei to train Wuxin, and Hakurei agreed while secretly planning to observe him more closely.
  • After Wuxin recovered, Yuzuriha told him Hakurei intended to send him away from Jamir.
  • Wuxin asked Yuzuriha to bring him to Hakurei, then openly requested a chance to join the Sanctuary.
  • Wuxin explained that he sought Cosmo and argued that he could not threaten the Sanctuary without immense strength.
  • Hakurei accepted Wuxin's reasoning and ordered him to stay in Jamir and train alongside Yuzuriha.
  • Yuzuriha expressed surprise that Wuxin had persuaded Hakurei.

Ch. 5The key to training

Yuzuriha explained that Cosmo could be mastered by strengthening the soul and manifesting the innate sixth sense through relentless training. Wuxin completed fifteen sets before collapsing, then sensed an unusual hunger in his cells that seemed to ease as he breathed, prompting Yuzuriha to recognize his extraordinary talent.

  • Wuxin explained that Cosmo existed in everything and that living beings could use it because they possessed souls and independent thought.
  • Yuzuriha taught Wuxin that mental power, or the sixth sense called manas, was the key to using Cosmo, and that basic training strengthened it by repeatedly exhausting and recovering mental power.
  • Yuzuriha demonstrated basic training movements and told Wuxin to continue beyond his limits, warning that the regimen could kill trainees who lacked sufficient talent.
  • Wuxin began training and completed fifteen sets before collapsing from exhaustion.
  • Wuxin sensed his cells craving something that ordinary food could not satisfy and noticed the feeling fade as he breathed air.
  • Yuzuriha praised Wuxin's keen perception and said he seemed to possess extraordinary talent.

Ch. 6Accelerated training / A qualitative change in worldly roots

Wuxin devised a calligraphy-based method to intensify mental training and sharply accelerated his progress toward awakening the Sixth Sense. After seeing his rapid improvement, Yuzuriha predicted he could master Cosmo in three months.

  • A week into training, Wuxin shattered a rock and learned he would otherwise need about three years to reach the Sixth Sense, so he resolved to accelerate his progress.
  • Wuxin reasoned that focused attention was the key to rock-stacking training and developed calligraphy practice as a better way for him to expend mental power.
  • After testing the method while physically exhausted, Wuxin passed out, woke feeling its effects, and changed his training regimen.
  • Another week later, Yuzuriha tested Wuxin's progress and predicted he would awaken the Sixth Sense and master Cosmo in three months.
  • Yuzuriha admitted Wuxin's self-created method worked far better for him than it did for the Jamir Clan, and Wuxin felt relieved that his efforts had paid off.

Ch. 7Burning the Cosmo (Part One)

Wuxin awakened his Sixth Sense, Manas, after three months of training and learned that he could now perceive and use Cosmo. Yuzuriha explained that he would become a Saint Candidate and would need to obtain a Cloth to become a full-fledged Saint.

  • Yuzuriha told Wuxin his rapid progress had reached its limit and said she would teach him basic combat techniques.
  • Wuxin claimed a god might be connected to his arrival and refused to reveal how he knew so much about Sanctuary.
  • Hakurei, Sage, and Sasha agreed to suspend their investigation into Wuxin for the time being.
  • After three months of training, Wuxin awakened his Sixth Sense and perceived the Cosmo within himself and Yuzuriha.
  • Yuzuriha explained that proficient use of Cosmo would make Wuxin a Saint Candidate, while obtaining one of Sanctuary’s Cloths would make him a full-fledged Saint.

Ch. 8Burning the Cosmo (Part Two)

Yuzuriha explained that burning the cosmo meant disturbing its stable workings to release usable power, then warned Wuxin that uncontrolled power could turn dangerous. Wuxin discovered how to awaken his cosmo by altering an asteroid within it and manifested a cold, sinister power in his palm, which ignited eerie blue flames around him.

  • Yuzuriha corrected Wuxin's belief that cosmo power came from the Big Bang and explained that it came from the stable forces governing the universe.
  • Yuzuriha demonstrated burning her cosmo, releasing a shock wave that knocked Wuxin off his feet.
  • Yuzuriha warned Wuxin that drawing out more power than he could control could make the cosmo turn against him, though she said the risk was unlikely at his stage.
  • Wuxin tried to disturb his cosmo from outside with mental force, but could not affect its stable workings.
  • Wuxin pushed an asteroid within his cosmo off its course, causing the universe to generate excess power that he drew into his body and manifested in his palm.
  • Eerie blue flames spread around Wuxin, and Yuzuriha recognized them as ghost fire.

Ch. 9Becoming a Saint from the Age of Myth

Wuxin accidentally ignited ghostly phosphorus flames while first manifesting his Cosmo, revealing a strong affinity for death. Hakurei offered to make him his disciple if he could raise a set of remains from a cliff’s bottom within a month, while privately discussing Wuxin’s mysterious origins with Sage and Sasha.

  • Hakurei absorbed the phosphorus flames Wuxin had ignited and learned that Wuxin had only just awakened his Sixth Sense and begun burning his Cosmo.
  • Wuxin manifested his Cosmo again, producing an even larger field of phosphorus flames, which Hakurei absorbed before declaring Wuxin suited to inherit his power.
  • Hakurei offered to train Wuxin if he could make a set of remains climb from the bottom of a nearby cliff within a month, and he refused to explain how.
  • Yuzuriha told Wuxin she could not help him, so he decided to descend the cliff and begin the test on his own.
  • Hakurei secretly told Sage and Sasha about the test, explaining that Wuxin’s talent and mysterious origins left him uncertain whether to accept him as a disciple.
  • Sage accepted Hakurei’s decision, while Sasha said Wuxin’s talent could help Sanctuary in the coming Holy War.

Ch. 10Being a Saint since the Age of Myth

Wuxin reached the bottom of the cliff, where he discovered a field of bones and learned that his death-aligned Cosmo could ignite the corpse qi around it. After three days of practice, he gained basic control of his Cosmo and began working out how to restrain its effects before attempting to control the remains.

  • Sasha asked Hakurei to teach Wuxin well and let him return to Sanctuary for a Cloth when the time was right.
  • Wuxin tested his newly awakened Cosmo on a boulder, shattered it, and fled when the impact triggered a landslide.
  • Wuxin reached the bottom of the cliff, recognized the piled bones as the remains of enemies killed at Jamir, and retreated from the corpse qi and phosphorescent flames.
  • After three days of practice, Wuxin learned to project fist radiance at the speed of sound and reached the basic combat threshold of the Sixth Sense.
  • Wuxin returned to the field of bones and confirmed that his death-aligned Cosmo ignited phosphine in the air, so he withdrew to learn how to limit its effects.

Ch. 11Becoming a Saint in the Age of Myth

Wuxin learned to control his Cosmo power’s death attribute while training in the Land of White Bones, then met Asmita, who sought his answers to unusual questions. The chapter left off as Asmita asked whether the King of the Underworld was necessarily evil and Athena necessarily just.

  • Wuxin gradually learned to control his Cosmo power without igniting the phosphorus gas in the Land of White Bones.
  • Wuxin reasoned that death was an energy attribute and that imitating naturally occurring death energy could help him understand and use it.
  • Asmita appeared, and Wuxin recognized him as Sanctuary’s Virgo Gold Saint.
  • Asmita used telekinesis to pull Wuxin closer, then released him and explained that he had come to ask questions, not investigate Wuxin’s origins.
  • Asmita asked whether the King of the Underworld was necessarily evil and Athena necessarily just, and Wuxin drew a sharp breath.

Ch. 12Being a Saint since the age of myth

Asmita questioned Wuxin about the nature of good and evil and the Holy War, then found clarity in his answers and left. Wuxin began investigating corpse qi in the land of bones, hoping to simulate it with his Cosmo and eventually animate remains.

  • Asmita asked whether the King of the Underworld was evil and Athena was just, and Wuxin explained that justice and evil were subjective standards shaped by human likes and dislikes.
  • Wuxin said he preferred Athena because he believed her protection would let people live more peacefully, and Asmita accepted that his choice placed him on Sanctuary's side.
  • Asmita said Wuxin's answers had helped him rediscover his true heart and see his path, then rapidly vanished from the land of bones.
  • Wuxin reasoned that understanding corpse qi was a foundation for Sekishiki and set out to study the decay gases released by remains.
  • Wuxin shaped his Cosmo into a snake, had it draw in air from the land of bones, and sealed the air inside a sphere so he could examine its structure with his mental power.

Ch. 13Being a Saint Since the Age of Myth

Wuxin discovered that he could imitate corpse qi by taking impressions of it with his Cosmo, then practiced until he could reproduce it independently. He used the simulated corpse qi to awaken a skeleton and, after linking it to his consciousness, managed to make it move.

  • Wuxin realized that analyzing corpse qi’s components was unnecessary and devised a tracing method to imitate it with his Cosmo.
  • Wuxin practiced taking impressions of corpse qi for nearly a week until he could imitate it independently.
  • Wuxin poured simulated corpse qi into a skull, creating a soul flame, but found that the skeleton had no consciousness and could not move.
  • Wuxin infused the soul flame with a trace of his consciousness, establishing a connection through which he could control the skeleton.
  • Wuxin attached replacement bones to the damaged skeleton and made it stand and move.

Ch. 14Becoming a Saint from the Age of Myth

After passing Hakurei’s test, Wuxin became his disciple and began learning how corpse qi could be refined into Sekishiki. Hakurei demonstrated the soul-stripping technique and started teaching Wuxin a second technique involving phosphine.

  • Wuxin returned to the clifftop with the revived skeleton, and Hakurei accepted him as a disciple and arranged to begin lessons the next day.
  • After resting and eating, Wuxin found Hakurei meditating and showed him the corpse qi he had learned to control.
  • Hakurei explained that Sekishiki was purified and strengthened corpse qi, then used it to pull Wuxin’s soul from his body before restoring it.
  • Hakurei taught Wuxin that the first technique, Sekishiki Meikai Ha, could send enemies into the Underworld or help its user escape danger.
  • Hakurei formed a pale flame and began explaining that phosphine in decaying bodies could ignite easily, introducing his second technique.

Ch. 15Being a Saint since the age of myth

Wuxin mastered Hakurei’s Sekishiki techniques and rapidly advanced to Silver Saint strength, prompting his master to send him toward Sanctuary. Before he could claim a Cloth, Hakurei tasked him with investigating the rape and murder of Athena’s priestess in Tehran, where soldiers stopped him from entering the temple.

  • Hakurei taught Wuxin Demonic Blue Flames, Soul Burial Wave, and the ultimate technique Spirit Rotation Wave.
  • Wuxin trained with Hakurei, learned close-combat techniques, and grew to Silver Saint speed in less than three months, though Yuzuriha remained much faster.
  • Hakurei sent Wuxin toward Sanctuary to obtain a Cloth and ordered him to investigate the priestess’s death in Tehran.
  • Wuxin reached Tehran, found the temple sealed off by the mayor’s soldiers, and approached to investigate.
  • The soldiers blocked Wuxin, saying no one could enter the temple until Sanctuary’s people arrived.

Ch. 16Being a Saint from the Age of Myth

Wuxin investigated the murder of Athena’s priestess, found no clues among the living, and summoned a ghost who had witnessed the crime. Before the old man could identify the murderer, Ursa Major Mike and Walter of Canes Venatici mistook Wuxin for an enemy and attacked him.

  • Wuxin entered Athena’s temple and discovered that the murdered priestess had been tortured and violated, but Sekishiki found no lingering thoughts in her corpse.
  • After questioning nearby residents yielded nothing, Wuxin summoned two ghosts and learned that an old man had witnessed the murder fifty years after becoming bound to a tree.
  • Wuxin promised to send the old man to the Underworld if he helped find the murderer, but Ursa Major Mike arrived and accused Wuxin of capturing innocent souls.
  • Ursa Major Mike attacked Wuxin with Raging Blow, but Wuxin blocked the strike effortlessly, prompting Mike to recognize him as a Silver-level opponent.
  • Walter of Canes Venatici arrived and prepared to fight Wuxin, who urged the two Saints to determine who was friend and foe before attacking.

Ch. 17Being a Saint since the Age of Myth

After Walter of Canes Venatici failed to track the killer by scent, Wuxin, Walter, and Ursa Major Mike went to the tavern and waited for the priestess’s three local accomplices. They captured Laus, One-Eyed Zack, and Six-Fingered Neil, then demanded to know the killer’s identity and whereabouts.

  • Walter of Canes Venatici could not detect the killer’s scent, so Wuxin and the two Saints followed the lead to the tavern.
  • The three Saints hid and waited through the night for the mysterious fourth person, but he never appeared.
  • Wuxin confronted Laus at the tavern and used Sekishiki Meikai Ha to separate his soul from his body.
  • Walter of Canes Venatici and Ursa Major Mike brought in the severely injured Six-Fingered Neil and One-Eyed Zack.
  • Walter of Canes Venatici demanded that the prisoners identify the killer and say where he was.

Ch. 18Being a Saint since the age of myth

Wuxin and the Saints killed Neil and Zack after confirming they knew nothing about the hidden fourth man, then tried to bring Laus back to Sanctuary. Red ambushed them on the way, severely wounded Wuxin, and left Walter to face him while Wuxin prepared a sneak attack.

  • Laus refused to reveal the hidden fourth man's identity despite Wuxin's torture, while Neil and Zack confirmed they knew nothing about him.
  • Walter, Wuxin, and Ursa Major Mike killed Neil and Zack, then Wuxin returned Laus's soul to his body so they could take him to Sanctuary.
  • A man at a distant manor noticed two candles go out and ordered Red to kill the Saints and prepare to leave.
  • Red intercepted the group, and Wuxin sent Ursa Major Mike away with Laus before he and Walter attacked the newcomer.
  • Red evaded their attacks and struck them with Dark Feather, badly wounding Wuxin while Walter suffered only minor injuries thanks to his Silver Cloth.
  • Wuxin feigned unconsciousness and prepared to use Sekishiki Meikai Ha in a surprise attack as Walter faced Red alone.

Ch. 19Being a Saint since the age of myth

Wuxin, Walter, and Ursa Major defeated Red, but an ominous newcomer called the Blasphemer arrived and overwhelmed them with the force of his footsteps. The chapter ended as the Blasphemer approached, with Red’s soul and Laus begging for mercy at his feet.

  • Red’s Wind of Extinction struck Walter, but Walter counterattacked with Hunting Bite and pinned Red in the jaws of his phantom hound.
  • Wuxin feigned unconsciousness, then used Sekishiki Meikai Ha to pull Red’s soul from his body while Walter held him down.
  • Walter stopped Wuxin from destroying Red’s soul so they could question him, and Ursa Major urged the group to flee.
  • The Blasphemer’s footsteps suppressed Wuxin, Walter, and Ursa Major, while Red’s soul and Laus broke free and rushed to beg him for mercy.
  • The Blasphemer emerged in black armor and dismissed their pleas as he stamped his foot, releasing a terrifying shock wave.

Ch. 20Being a Saint since the Age of Myth

The Blasphemer defeated Red, Laus, Wuxin, Walter, and Mike, then tried to recruit Wuxin before attacking him. Manigoldo arrived in time to rescue them, and the Blasphemer prepared to test the Cancer Gold Saint.

  • The Blasphemer killed Red and Laus, then overpowered Wuxin, Canes Venatici, and Ursa Major after revealing he had murdered a priestess.
  • The Blasphemer offered Wuxin greater power and armor if he joined him, but became enraged when Wuxin tried to learn his name and stamped down to kill him.
  • Manigoldo arrived, struck the Blasphemer away, and greeted Wuxin as his junior brother.
  • Manigoldo explained that Lady Sasha had sensed danger and that the old man had sent him to follow the Saints in secret.
  • Manigoldo warned Wuxin, Walter, and Mike to withdraw, and the Blasphemer moved to fight him.
