• Uya teamed up with Might Duy for a mission and discovered that their caravan assignment concealed an elite Kirigakure force led by Hozuki Mugetsu.

Uya joined the war in the Land of Rain, survived the destruction of his squad, and grew into a powerful special Anbu while befriending Yahiko and Konan. After claiming the Kusanagi Sword and uncovering his clan identity, he left to rescue Tsunade and faced an approaching Iwagakure force alone.

• Guren Gekko led Uya, Ino Yamanaka, and Sana Asama into the Land of Rain, where an Iwagakure trap killed him and Uya annihilated the enemy unit that attacked his squad.
• Hiruzen Sarutobi assigned Uya to the Anbu Special Force as Ten'u, and Uya trained in Kumogakure’s Lightning Body Tempering Secret Technique before beginning another mission in the Land of Rain.
• Uya rejected Danzo’s attempt to seize control of him, killed Nara Shikachi and Kurama Yasō, and later met Yahiko and Konan while they were fleeing after stealing bread.
• Uya protected Yahiko and Konan from a Sunagakure unit, settled with them in a secluded cabin, and began teaching them Ninjutsu as they trained together.
• Uya defeated Senjin, claimed the Kusanagi Sword, and revealed himself as Kusanagi Yoru before killing Senjin when he threatened Yahiko and Konan.
• After receiving word that Tsunade’s squad was trapped by Iwagakure, Uya left Yahiko and Konan and raced to rescue her as Hyuga Ushin sacrificed himself to help her escape.
• Uya caught the exhausted Tsunade and confronted the pursuing Stone Ninja alone, using the Kusanagi Sword to deflect their attacks as more than thirty enemies approached.
