Background / History

Angel Clan Heir and Papal Candidate

Qian Xunji entered Spirit Hall’s Elite Selection Tournament as the nine-year-old son of Pope Qian Daoliu. He arrived with Xiong Shan, Ci Xue, Feng Wen, and Shi Lei, attracting immediate attention as a likely future Holy Son 40.

Meng Qianqiu’s superior cultivation and unusually old Soul Rings disrupted that expectation. Qian Xunji sought additional allies, but Ling Yuan chose Meng Qianqiu, while Yan Yang rejected his attempt to use status and threats. Watching the confrontation, Qian Daoliu criticized his son’s lack of magnanimity 42.

Soul Bone Shortcut

Qian Xunji planted Xu Qianqian in Meng Qianqiu’s squad through an agreement involving Spirit Hall and the Star Crown Sect. Her reports revealed the connection between physical constitution and beyond-limit Soul Rings, along with Meng Qianqiu’s plans for a thirty-thousand-year fifth ring 47 81.

Unable to match his rival through cultivation alone, Qian Xunji absorbed six ten-thousand-year Soul Bones. Qian Daoliu condemned the decision: occupying all six ordinary slots prevented him from taking the Angel God Bones and completing the inheritance’s required equipment. Qian Xunji nevertheless insisted that preserving the Angel Clan’s hold on the papacy mattered more than becoming a god 53 60 95.

Individual Tournament Defeat

Qian Xunji defeated Gui Mei in the quarterfinals and advanced to face Meng Qianqiu among the final four 58. His Angel Holy Sword was caught between Meng Qianqiu’s fingers, and his subsequent attacks failed to overcome his rival’s close-combat techniques and External Soul Bones 58 59 60.

Despite Qian Daoliu’s warning not to harm a fellow Spirit Hall talent, Qian Xunji developed the intent to kill Meng Qianqiu. He was ultimately worn down by the Manggu Vermilion Toad’s ultimate fire poison and lost the match. He acknowledged the defeat but continued preparing for the team competition 54 60 61.

Espionage and the Canceled Team Competition

Meng Qianqiu countered Qian Xunji’s infiltration by placing Ye Renxin in his team. Qian Xunji discovered the deception only after Ye Renxin left and Xu Qianqian sent word. He arranged for Xu Qianqian to replace the departed healer and distributed ten-thousand-year Soul Bones to his squad to strengthen its chances 82 83 84.

The anticipated rematch never occurred: Qian Daoliu canceled the team competition and graduated the candidates. Qian Xunji joined the Angel Legion, persuaded his subordinates to accompany him, and established influence there with his father’s assistance 84 88.

Loss of the Papacy

Qian Daoliu offered his son an alternative route through law enforcement and military authority. The proposed Elder Hall would place the Angel Demon-Extermination Legion and several elders under its jurisdiction, preserving the Qian Family’s influence even if Meng Qianqiu became Pope. Qian Xunji initially regarded this as inferior to holding the papal throne himself 63 88.

At the Youth Exchange Conference, witnessing Meng Qianqiu’s overwhelming strength finally led Qian Xunji to concede the contest for Pope. He admitted inferiority in both methods and breadth of heart 98. However, he did not attend the abdication ceremony and later refused Meng Qianqiu’s offer of cooperation. Ci Xue, Feng Wen, Xiong Shan, Yan Yang, Shi Lei, and Xu Qianqian subsequently entered the new Pope’s service 99 108.

Judgment Elder and Later Cultivation

As Judgment Elder, Qian Xunji remained associated with the Qian Family’s separate power base. On learning that Meng Qianqiu had reached Titled Douluo while he was still struggling toward Soul Saint, he described his own office as “a title with no substance” and accepted that he could no longer oppose him 116.

He nevertheless continued cultivating and reached rank 80 sooner than Qian Daoliu expected. His father identified an eighty-thousand-year Holy Light Butterfly and its much older Light Goddess Butterfly mate as hunting targets, reserving the latter for his ninth ring 132.

As tensions between the Pope and the Qian faction increased, Meng Qianqiu ordered that Qian Xunji be closely watched 138. The latest report placed him in the Star Dou Great Forest with Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile; their expedition had not yet returned 141.

Personality

Qian Xunji strongly identifies the Angel Clan’s prestige with its control of Spirit Hall. He initially treats the papacy as the Qian Family’s rightful inheritance and resents his father’s willingness to accommodate an outsider. Even after sacrificing his chance at the Angel God Trial, he insists that losing the papacy would be an intolerable humiliation 47 53 63.

His competitiveness encourages shortcuts, espionage, and lavish spending on followers. Under pressure, it can become murderous: during his tournament match, he decides that Meng Qianqiu’s continued growth is too dangerous to permit 47 60 84.

He is also capable of recognizing talent and admitting defeat. He expresses reluctant admiration for Meng Qianqiu’s willingness to risk himself and later openly concedes the papal contest. That concession does not erase his pride, however; he remains unwilling to serve beneath his former rival 47 98 108.
