Geography and Locations
- Four gates and districts: Shenglin City has eastern, western, southern, and northern gates, with garrison barracks near each. The eastern district is the most heavily defended because of the beast-filled mountains beyond it 10.
- Black Mountain: An extensive mountain range east of the city, containing vast numbers of Sin Beasts and more than five Gold Realm beasts. Its outskirts serve as hunting grounds for Lin An and his guards 17.
- City Lord’s Estate: The Lin Family’s residence and administrative center, containing a council hall, cultivation chambers, treasury, and library 1 7 12 22.
- Great-family estates: The Zhao, Zhang, and Wang families maintain their own compounds within the city. Lin Xiao and Lin An visit them while investigating Sin Beast possession 4 6 7.
- Western Spirit Realm entrance: A temporary Bronze-tier Spirit Realm appears three kilometers west of Shenglin City. The City Lord’s Estate and the three great families send exploration teams inside 22 27 28.

Lin Family Rule
The Lin Family has ruled Shenglin City since its founding. The ancestors of the Zhao, Zhang, and Wang families were attendants of the founder and settled in the city under his protection 2 3.
The family’s platinum-quality inherited cultivation technique is central to its dominance: its cultivation-speed bonuses have enabled successive generations to reach Gold Realm. Aside from the founder, who surpassed Platinum Realm, later descendants reached no higher than Gold Ninth Grade 7 39.

Three Great Families
- Zhao Family: Led by Zhao Tong. After Lin Xiao and Lin An remove possessing Sin Beasts and save his youngest daughter, Zhao Tong pledges the family’s loyalty 6.
- Zhang Clan and Wang Clan: Also investigated during the possession purge; their heads subsequently join Zhao Tong in presenting gifts and reaffirming their support 7 9.
- Cooperation with the estate: The families offer Spirit Realm resources to Lin An and later send younger members into the garrison, where they must follow military orders 22 38 40.

History
Founding and Earlier Siege
Shenglin City was founded approximately seven centuries before the story by an Awakened Lin Family ancestor. The “Lin” in its name refers to the ruling family 2.
A Sin Beast siege ten years before the current events cost Lin Xiao’s father his life and left Lin An severely traumatized. The city then enjoyed a decade of peace before another large gathering of Sin Beasts appeared 40 41.
Destruction in the Previous Timeline
In Lin An’s previous life, Shenglin City was his starting settlement, and he joined its garrison after entering Sin Abyss. He remembers players arriving on September 1, 3215, followed by the city’s destruction on December 15 of that year 1 10.
Sin Beasts from Black Mountain overwhelmed the city, and Lin Xiao self-destructed in an attempt to take them down with him. Surviving players became wanderers without a secure place to rest or replenish supplies 1 17.
After learning about Black Mountain’s hierarchy in his new life, Lin An suspects that a beast’s advancement to Platinum Realm enabled the final assault. This remains his inference rather than a confirmed account of the city’s destruction 17.
Possession Purge
Lin An’s return begins with the discovery that Physician Liu is possessed by a Sin Beast. Using his ability to identify hidden beasts, he helps Lin Xiao investigate the estate’s guards, the three great families, and all four garrison camps 1 3 7 11.
The purge exposes seventeen possessed personal guards and 372 possessed soldiers in the eastern garrison alone. At the Zhao estate, Lin Xiao also extracts an Envy Louse from Zhao Tong’s daughter before her possession becomes irreversible 3 6 10.
The operation removes infiltrators while establishing Lin An’s authority as the city’s future ruler. Lin Xiao orders the dead guards’ remains collected and their families compensated as for battlefield casualties 4.
Western Spirit Realm Expedition
The three great families discover a Bronze-tier Spirit Realm west of the city and offer to explore under the estate’s direction or give Lin An half their gains. Lin An instead enters with ten personal guards and allows the clan teams to explore independently 22 28.
He returns with a Heaven and Earth Spirit Crystal intended to help Lin Xiao perfect the family cultivation technique. Reports of his slaughter of more than ten thousand Sin Beasts prompt the clan heads to commit further resources to supporting him 36 38.
Current-Timeline Sin Beast Siege
Zhao Tao notices groups of Sin Beasts deliberately moving toward Shenglin City and reports the pattern. Feng Shan confirms that beasts are converging from all four directions, strengthens patrols, and eventually requests Lin Xiao’s intervention 40 41.
The attacking force grows to 180,000. Lin An fights outside the eastern gate while the garrison and great families hold the walls. He kills the Gold Second Grade Thunder Griffin; Lin Xiao captures the Flame Hell Dragon Lizard and delivers it to him to finish 43 44 46 47.
The captured beast reveals that its head chief ordered the attack to test whether Lin Xiao had reached Platinum Realm. With both Gold Realm commanders dead, the remaining beasts lose organized leadership, and the siege ends three hours later with Shenglin City intact 47.
The defenders’ firsthand experience of Lin An’s strength greatly increases their confidence in him as their future protector. This victory resolves the current siege, not the later destruction he remembers from his previous life 1 47.
